The video titled "How to back up beestation to another NAS" on the DIGIBITE channel provides a comprehensive guide on how to back up data from a single bay BeeStation NAS to another NAS device. It starts by explaining that typically, cloud backup is limited to the provider's cloud or to a USB. However, the video illustrates how to enable local backup by adjusting the BeeStation settings to enable local access with a username and password, and activating the SMB service. It then instructs viewers to create a shared folder on the main NAS for backup and remote access purposes. The video details the process of linking the two NAS devices by mapping a network drive through the file station, using the provided IP address, and setting it to automatically connect at startup. This setup allows the user to select which folder to map to the remote NAS. The tutorial continues with creating a backup schedule using the Hyper Backup tool, selecting a local shared folder (single version) for the backup, and specifying the source and destination folders. It concludes by showing how the backup task, once initiated, begins to transfer files from the BeeStation to the specified backup folder on the main NAS, demonstrating the content from the BeeStation being backed up in real time.

Great video, thank you. I followed your guide and successfully set up the backup between BeeStation and DiskStation. However, I noticed that in this configuration, the BeeStation never goes into standby (HDD Hibernation). Is it possible that the CIFS connection between the two systems remains always active and prevents this energy-saving mode?

Yes, it's highly likely that the ongoing CIFS connection between BeeStation and DiskStation is preventing the BeeStation from entering standby.
CIFS (Common Internet File System) is a network protocol that allows computers to share files and resources over a network. When the BeeStation is actively connected to the DiskStation via CIFS, it's essentially engaged in a communication process, which keeps the system awake.

Through USB port, can it deliver powers for an external HDD as a backup medium ?

Yes, external drives that are normally powered from a normal PC will also be powered on a NAS

Interesting, in HyperBackup, I'm not able to select the BeeStation as a source because "remote folders cannot be selected as the backup source". I'm trying to figure out what I did differently from you.

The only way to do it is via Maping Beestation drive inside the other NAS.

Nice. Do you know if the BeeStation can be backed up offsite? I'm going to buy this for my elderly parents, but want to backup their data with my own Synology or Unraid server, since it only has one drive.

Currently it only supports backup to a USB drive or Synology Cloud. You would need to create VPN connection between both location using Synology routers or other. This would allow maping beestation drive just like I did in the video (but remotely)
