Can you please walk us through the application process how the usmle is useful, how many years the residency is what the prospects after completing the residency are and what your plans are if you would like to share them that is? Congrats on your achievement, getting into a general surgery residency anywhere is not an easy feat to achieve and you had a lot of struggles yourself, many i am sure behind the screen. So,please remember you have worked extremely hard to get here and keep going to where you want to go. There will be moments when you would be super excited, and easily glide and moments when you would question your decision but be assured you are on the right path as chosen by the lord for you.Best wishes and prayers for your successful completion of this specialty and beyond. I know the USMLE steps test a Graduate's ability to start residency in the US. But I'm confused that it may help in entering residency out of US territory. Need some light on it plz
Well I heard of a residency in Dominica for a US MED school graduate who is now doing his post residency or fellowship through UM hospital in Miami. I might be confused exactly on how this is set up but I overheard this. I live in Miami BTW. Could be wrong though. The student would be practicing in the USA.
New Zealand and maybe Dubai need the steps to get into residency. It's not US certified training. But if her program is it will be good to know as it's something new for me too.
I think that your did a good choice with Dubai. As i could see some comments under mine, some people are shocked about it. But i know for sure that in oriental countries ( like Iran )you are allowed to practice more . In Europe or America medical students are in general limited to practice their skills on patients.

I just wanted to add that there is a way to practice in the USA if you fail to secure US residency. It's via doing an "internado" in Puerto Rico. This I do know because two doctor friends of mine did it via that route. It's a lengthy process and you would have to learn Spanish.

Congratulations though getting general surgery is amazing especially in Dubai that's hard as I am guessing your not having their citizenship. You worked really hard.

Dubai...I take it that application for foreigners is possible... One question which will sound dumb and I apologize for that beforehand .....one of the prerequisites is for sure speaking arabics , right? As a native speaker I assume o how is the real deal here regarding the language?
shes not a uae graduate because uae unis arrange residency for their graduates, the reason she did usmle Step 1 is to get into dubai residency thats the link, now shes done umsle Step 2 ck and cs most likely she will be going for fellow or board exam in the us check her Instagram shes engaged to a white guy and probably plans to live their long term the reason she even did residency in Dubai is cuz of family and money, shes Indian but born n raised abroad
