You could have held out for the upcoming “Triple Takeover Dramatic Capture Series” Premium Finish that will have a better Astrotrain packed with it. And another “SS86 Starscream” coronation accessories with it too.
I got this figure when he first came out. Hes a pain to transform and the jet mode is kind of terrible. However he is my favorite triple changer so I'm glad I got him.
The tank stump isn’t supposed to stick out that much looking at the show and g1 figure it’s not that prominent and the jet looks nice from the top any other angle and it’s not good with how much hangs off When it comes to TR vs legacy it’s odd. The TR has a good jet and tank mode with a more styled robot mode with less posability compared to legacy that has a good robot mode but bad vehicle modes. I will say I got this on sale a big one at that BUT if I knew it was getting the green repaint I would’ve gotten that over the normal colours as I have the TR version but I’ll probably do a legacy custom
His exposed head when you flip it around is also screen accurate. Seen a couple of times, a few in his infamous episode with the bridge Quote, poor guy just can’t win
Perhaps I need to watch more vids, coz I've never heard you this kind of frustrated before. But I feel ya. I'm only not feeling ripped off coz I got mine for super discount at 34USD. If I got him for any more, I WOULD feel ripped off, and he's only saved coz I'm actually not a fan of the TR figure, at least as much as I used to. No excuse for the hands. At all. The tank...confidence, I can live with, but it really is a case of trying to be accurate to a fault but not even getting it right (which the Dramatic Capture PARTIALLY did, by making the canopy blue). But it's saved by being the best tank toy I've owned to roll and target with. Jet....I have to cope VERY hard with my imagination that it's the vehicle mode of the Mega Winger from Power Rangers in Space.

I'm wondering if those fists can be used for devastator? The small 12-inch one. Because my KO devastator hands look a lot like those.
