Iloilo city is a good start for any foreigner that is going to visit the Philippines because first of all the city is a UNESCO Gastronomy city, full of heritage places and it's a very walkable and safe city.
True. Very true of ILOILO. All that you said of ILOILO is true. You get to see a sane Philippine city that will cushion whatever bad things you will later see of the other Philippine cities.
True!! but I wish the ILO airport would really bring back its direct intl flights from singapore vice versa or hong kong thats an additional boost. We lost it during the pandemic. Hopefully by sept or oct this year.
I totally agree with the content of this video. I visited Ilo-ilo July 2024,my husband and I were so impressed by the city!!! The restaurants and food options, amazing! The esplanade and other public places like the plazas that are well-maintained, beautiful and enjoyed by many. And many trees and plants. It has culture and class!
@stevenrichards7902 it's much cleaner. The roads are better kept up and in most of the city the roads are 4 lanes. A lot less traffic. No matter what time of the day I can get anywhere in less than 10 minutes. A lot of decent sidewalks. I'm in a wheelchair so that matters to me lol. The Esplanade is nice. It's a very long 15km? Park/sidewalk along the river. Ahh and speaking of which the river is super clean. The whole city is clean as a matter of fact! This is a great place and the people are fantastic. Not a party town. So if that's what you are after, don't come here lol
Great vlog thanks for coming and sharing the good historical landmarks of our city. Those are the richie rich places you went. There's of course some ghettos too but appreciate the local government to bring Iloilo back to its glory. Next time try to go to Fort San Pedro and Villa beach. It's free view and many restaurants too by the seaside. I'm no rich but I'll be honest there's many hacienderos and local businessmen in the city that made tons of fortunes from the Spanish and American coloneal eras. Many of the ancestral houses before were huge and open. Ours is not that big but it's a double story with open windows and freeflow of fresh air. My late parents sold it after moving back to the countryside to farm. Sad to say they never renovated and preserved it. It's all gone destroyed including the houses of my late aunts and uncles. They built the houses like American style. That roads at the side along injap and SM were once field with houses and huge communities. They removed it and open it for the roads and highways in front of it. If I'm the owner I would be pest. Some were huge ancestral houses that you can never see nowadays. I heard they only pay them cheap. That airport runway there part of it too was my grandparents farm. Until now we're still fighting for them to give us the right compensation. It's a pain but what can I say. Thanks for sharing your vlog and promoting our home sweet home.
I appreciate that you liked it and I also appreciate your story. It is sad that people got underpaid and some of the heritage houses got destroyed, I just wish that they tried to just move the heritage houses to a new location. Sometimes we really pay a hefty price for development, which is a sad reality
I was actually so surprised, it was so beautiful almost like Sakura. I bet a couple more years when the trees are older it will be much much more prettier 😉
I also enjoyed seeing you walking on the streets in festive. Also you can find solitude walking at 2-3am in esplanade if it is breezy that would be perfect.
Also if you love the sea or sitting with a bonfire along the seashore you can definitely go to the southern part of Iloilo where you can find resort and beaches.
Iloilo is a very beautiful city. I'm from western Visayas near Bacolod City, but my best friend use to live in Oton,Iloilo. He ran a medical mission there. I went to visit him in Iloilo in 2017. We went all over, from SM mall to smallville. Had a great time there. RIP Sir Larry. ❤️🇵🇭🇺🇲
