Oh my goodness kid, you have the sweetest giggle. You've done a wonderful job making your property gorgeous, you're a hard working girl. I like Hosta blooms myself, I'm thinking moving your Hosta instead of the Hydrangea would be an easier task. Lastly, I like the big Hosta around the birdbath, gives them some privacy 😉

I love that you do everything on a budget and the wonderful thing about many of your plants is that they can be divided over and over again. I consider a hosta bloom more for the bees and hummers than for me. I let them enjoy the nectar and cut them off as needed. We are all happy. Thank you for another fun and informative video. Happy gardening everyone

HI Jes- I watched my first vid from your channel the other day. It was a walk through your gardens with snow so then i searched earlier videos to see everything with out the snow. WOW! I didn't expect to see such a large beautiful space. I'm hooked😃 I hope you keep sharing your knowledge, ideas and vision for your gardens. I gave up, temporarily, on an area in my yard that is full of weeds and poison ivy. I know what i want it to look like. Its just so daunting. 😂Thank you for sharing how you made your property so beautiful.
Awe thanks Mala! That’s very nice of you! I feel the pain of poison Ivy. It’s been years of battling it. All the gardens on the outside perimeter of my yard were once woods so I know it will just be something I deal with here and there. But there are ways to steer clear of it! Don't spray with round up near plants or bushes. It follows the root system of the plant and will cross any root by it and kill the other plants next to it if they cross.

Your astilbe are beautiful! If you want to clip a few blooms off and try spray painting, you could. I know someone who did that with Shubertii allium seed heads .

Loved walking around your garden. It’s breathtakingly beautiful & shows all the hard work & love you’ve put into it. I leave my hosts blooms on too. I too have a Cheyenne spirit coneflower but their all red & I thought they would be 3 different colors but I love it anyway. Your so sweet & I love that your channel is real life. Great job 😊👏👏👏
Margie yes, Im not sure about those coneflower they just change from year to year its so strange but I hear they revert back to their original purple because that is the dominant color. But who know! thanks for being here :)
All my coneflowers have reverted back after 3 years. I’m thinking about pulling them out next year. They grow wild in our ditches and pastures.

First, I do love the hosta flowers, too…I’ve heard you shouldn’t spray your blooms with paint as it may harm pollinators, bees, hummingbirds, etc..and last, your “hodgepodge of crap” is gorgeous! My garden should look so good! Love your channel and I hope you are all better from the heat stroke!

I chop the hosta blooms off. 😀 Actually I did all of mine today (apx. 40). I love the plants, not the blooms 😉I find them unattractive, especially when the bottom petals start to brown and they are messy. My pollinators have many other plants, so I don’t feel bad. I have known people that have spray painted the spent allium heads 😁. There are no rules to gardening 🤣😂. Always enjoy your energy and sweetness.

Loved this. This winter I plan to watch your movies and make my list! I want to do more seeds also. I did some sunflowers and zinnias and was amazed. I want to add the impatient for sure. That will free up for buying at sales and perennials! I keep the hosta blooms. I love blooms although I am using more coleus and caladiums for their beautiful color!
Yes thats a great Idea! I don't do many seeds cuz my sister has a little greenhouse and does some things for me like impatiens so im very blessed with that! The bunny ate my sunflowers I think :( Good luck with your garden!

Gardeners private backyards is where we bring out our personality more in designs. Making it original makes more special. I see many other gardeners plant way too much, resulting in no design at all.

I would leave the white hydrangeas, they’re nicely established to move just to put the hostas in front of them.. having the hostas behind is kind of secret gardenesque.. and I love the size of the hostas around the birdbath, don’t move them, they’ve earned their height ☺️ And as for loving or hating hosta blooms, for me, it depends on the type of bloom and color. Some I cut off, some I leave. Thanks for sharing, and God bless your heart ♥️

Your yard is SO PRETTY!!! I love all your hostas. I like the blooms on them, especially the little blue mouse ears; they are so cute. The 3 little sedge plants where one is different look like carex Everest which has white stripes and carex Everglow with the yellowish striping. Yours look good.
Unless you want the bunny to eat up your plants ( good thing you have a bunch) I would discourage him with Liquid Fence or something similar. Chipmunks are VERY destructive. You don’t want to know my course of action after they mangled every geranium I had three times. They did not eat the plants; they just destroyed them. They did the same thing in my deck rail planters. I called the state wildlife service and followed their advice. End of chipmunk problem.
yep they are so naughty, always up to something that im gonna be mad about. Thanks for the info on the carex, they all had the same tag when I bought them but they were on clearance so it was hard to tell they didn't look the greatest at the time

You are a very creative gardener. How do you prevent weeds in your flower beds? I’m setting up a new flower bed and need some advice on how to start and what to cover the beds against weeds.
Mulch and preen! I go out in the spring and do one giant weeding day then make sure to spread preen down ASAP! and that is a huge help! I also kinda love pulling weeds, its relaxing for me so if I see a weed I pull it no matter if im working on something else or not, it helps keep up on it
You do grow vegetables. I just never seen the vegetable beds before. With all the things you are growing I thought how come she doesn’t grow vegetables, but you do.
I do LOL that area has been neglected cuz we are having a deck build and its a construction site. But ill get out there and clean it up soon

I just cut the flowers off my hostas today, they were pretty much done & not many blooms left but I like them.
Side note: you can spray paint whatever you want because the pollinators aren't going to mess with anything that's painted. I think they may have more sense than alot of people these days🤣

I wish I could get my Japanese forest grass to take off. Maybe it doesn’t like my humidity? I have better luck with carex
You know Johnny, I had that grass in a lot more sun and it was struggling. Then I moved it down there, where it only gets like maybe 4 hours of sun and it does amazing!! Im in zone 4/5
