My great grandfather and both of his brothers were there in the first battle in different regiments. All three were badly wounded but all three made it home. A miracle.
I am so glad to have found this page and the information about the Yorkshire Regiments. I will share this with the friends and keep these men in my prayers. May their souls rest in peace. Amen.
My grandfather Subedar Mir Dast vc defended this city with his blood. Who got the Victoria Cross but till now neither the British Government nor the Belgian Government has made any event or program about my grandfather Subedar Mir Dast Afridi.
My mothers father, my Grandfather, is memorialised at Tyne Cot.She never got to visit that memorial, and she never met her father in person as he was gone before she was born. One of my over-riding desires is to stand in front of the Memorial to the man neither of us met as some sort of atonement.I hope to realise that dream before I turn 80--in 2 years time.

Their sacrifice will never be forgotten by the people - but it has been by the Oligarchic Establishment. They seek new sacrifice now - and the end of our free and sovereign country. God bless and never surrender.
