    The silver swan
    Who living had no note
    When death approached
    Unlocked her silent throat
Leaning her breast against the reedy shore
Thus sung her first and last and sang no more
    Farewell all joys
O death come close mine eyes
More geese than swans now live
    More fools than wise

The silver Swan, who, living, had no Note,
when Death approached, unlocked her silent throat.
Leaning her breast against the reedy shore,
thus sang her first and last, and sang no more:
"Farewell, all joys! O Death, come close mine eyes!
More Geese than Swans now live, more Fools than Wise."

The true 'tune' of this is in the tenor line. Try it - it is a better tune, and will suit alto well too

You may be able to find it in a different key. Good luck!

The 'true' tune of this is in the tenor line, except for one phrase near the end (swap with soprano). Try it - it is a better tune, and will suit alto well too.
