On release you had to grind to get the good shipment cards. If you changed the home city you would have to grind all over again which made multiplayer extremely uneven. It wouldn't matter much if you only played single player but multiplayer was highly imbalanced. The game was extremely unfriendly to new players who not only lacked experience but also lacked good upgrades.
Couldn’t you just edit your home city text file to give you the level, xp, and card unlocks? It’s tedious, but a lot less so than grinding games where you were capped at earning two levels each.
yeah also ESOC had a mode where it'd update your Home cities to 100 if you win a game with a player, so you just set up a match with one of your buds v comps and stomp them.
I would say its second. AOE1 was the worst- buggy and pathfinding was horrible. AOE2 with Conquerors expansion is the best- no doubt. One of the greatest RTS games of all time.
It's because it was the one that was furthest away from the AoE formula. I don't hate 3 myself, I actually quite like it, but it's undeniable it strayed from the classic formula big time with a lot of changes. Whether this is good or bad is for each to decide, but for people that loved 2 for what it was, 3 was a massive departure from it.
It's crazy to me that they built up almost entire civilizations for a 30 minute campaign. It makes me wonder whether they are planning to add ethiopia or the others as full civilizations.
Yo Samurai, me again! This is so dope! I'm so happy that DE is here! I just wanted to ask if you'll make some videos on for example tutorials, quick tips,... or just a review on the DE? Love from Belgium!
Originally I imagine it was to constrain the amount of work the pathing algorithms had to do. There is really no reason to have such a feature any more unless you really want to emphasize the multitasking skills of players in high-level competitions, but I don't think that is the case here. More likely, they did not want to change any actual gameplay functionality from the original.
It seems like "Revenge" and "Dead Captains" is a recurrent theme in every Portuguese appearance in an Age of Empires game. In Aoe2 I was expecting the Portuguese campaign to be about their biggest and most important wars, as well as famous national heroes such as Afonso Henriques and the Reconquista or Nuno Alvares Pereira and the Interregnum war (1383-85) and in Aoe3 some large scale decisive battle such as the Battle of Diu (1509), the Siege of Mazagan (1562) Battle of Elmina (1625) or Lines of Elvas (1659). But instead we got obscure skirmishes fought by obscure Capitains in the far corners of the world in both games. I guess they want to use the Portuguese as a proxy to showcase African and Asian civilizations. Its also curious that the Portuguese Campaign in Aoe2 and historical battles in Aoe3 take place at the exact same place (East Africa) and at the exact same time (in the early 1500's). I don't know, i think the Portuguese early discoveries period is vastly overdone in comparison to the rest of their history which is very underrepresented in media.
As much as I'm glad they added Sweden and the Inca (both of which should have already been in the game, imo), I'm really disappointed that DE didn't come with an African expansion. The Ashanti, Kongo, and the Swahili would be a great fit for AoE3.
@SamuraiRevolution You didn't receive shipments since Oruc says in the start that your pirate base cannot provide shipments thanks to the spanish blockade.
what quality do you use dude, my AOEDE3 looks so bad man. so now I'm playing complete collection again. but can you tell me why yours looks so much better?
There should be a attack-move option, better used when getting in range and not before, else once the first line of troops get close enough they stop and block the rest of the troops. Also, treasures aren't useless, and the heroes/explorers might have special abilities, try to use them. When playing with the Russians, try to keep 1-2 villagers/settlers with the main army, to build those blockhouses on the way. Both strelets and cossacks are cheap but weak units, so you need to train more and more.
First scenario is bugged on even hard difficulty where southern gate wont get attacked at all. So even on hard you can completely ignore southern gate because of a bad trigger work. The triggers are there to make waves to attack but are broken. The spanish will spawn ships to harass your navy but are never too many and easy to overcome with privateers and galley spam. If you are going by history you should not have allowed the player navy access or have it so that frigates deter them from leaving the cape and moving out. You can easily avoid the patrols and outposts if you want to break the scenario with landing on the other side or constructing docks from the left side. The other things are fine with the scenario. De gama scenario is also badly triggered where if one of the ethiopian attack waves break through the wall, every other lane reroutes at the breakthrough. For a dota/moba clone of a scenario this should never happen and the waypoint should be outside the wall and reposition after a wall in the lane breaksthrough than place the waypoints inside the base.
your CPU should be good enough, but your GPU is lacking a bit. I have a worse graphic card and I can run it on medium-low settings. So you can surely play it, but just not on the highest setting. (hope that helped)
I'm starting to think the only thing the devs of this remaster are actually good at is high def 3d modeling. The building and ship destruction animations are worse than the original ones, and a lot of the replacement sound effects are flat out bad, the weirdest being the mining sound effect, and this sound (26:15) of a stone wall being destroyed, which for some reason sounds like hollow pieces of wood hitting the floor. The only way these sound effects make any creative sense is if they were made with the intention of making it feel like Age of Empires 3 is a world of miniature figurines, which is an idea I really dislike.
A lot of these issues will likely be sorted out within, at most, a month of release. At least that's my guess, considering that's how it went for the other games.
@@goddriftybummy9686 I hope you're right, but I have to wonder why they would put in the bad sfx in the first place. It seems less like a technical issue then a creative choice.
@@Tareltonlives age 3 has lesser number of civs because they are different than each other in terms of gameplay. Age 2 has a lot more civs but differences between them are mostly 1 special unit and 2 or 3 passive bonuses.
I see Ethiopian civilizations in Historical Battle but as NPC in this game and there's no Ethiopian as playable civilization just scenarios. Hopefully it will next update will be add Zulu civilization based of Anglo Zulu War and Ethiopians Civilization.
Hey samurai, don't know if this is gonna be relevant or maybe you already figure it out, but in the stream when you were playing against the AI, right before the historycal battles, you were saying that there's a huge gap between hard difficulty and hardest, because hard was too easy and hardest too hard; but, if i'm not mistaken, the two games you played against hard and hardest you were actually playing against moderate and extreme; i think you can see it in your stream, if you're interested i can later point out the exact times, just let me know. So when you were going to play in hard, i think you leave the match yo check something and when you went back you just put start game, but the changes didn't save, i think it saves the same of your last match wich was in moderate, just like in AoE 3 original, so you played in moderate thinking it was hard so you though hard was too easy; and the same happened in the hardest one, after the second moderate you went for extreme, wich was in fact extreme so it was too hard, but when you did hardest next to that, you again leave the match to check something and just went back to play start, so it saved in extreme difficulty and was too hard... So if you noticed it just ignore this :)
Okay, so the new Russian flag is to show the Russian Empire. The Original flag for Russia, the eagle, was the standard of the Duchy of Moscow and personal coat of arms for the Tsars, based on the Roman flag. Historically speaking at this period Ivan IV's flag was an Icon of Christ. It was under Peter I that Russia adopted the Tricolor, based on the Dutch (since Peter was a Dutch fanboy). This flag was used until the Russian Revolution, then restored after the collapse of the USSR.

this might be my favorite age to play in "realistic" RTS's. I love cannons, muskets and else-wise. I'm glad to see they added 2 new civs, but I wish one of them would've been USA. I feel like the US could easily fit into this period...Plus, I could play 1776 all over again! Or I could play Independence Day, starring Mel Gibson as William Wallace!
