Designers from overseas also visit Okayama and Hiroshima in search of traditional denim unique to Japan, and the machines that make selvedge denim are particularly valuable.
We interviewed them about the denim-making process, the definition of denim, traditional techniques, the development of new fabrics, and the characteristics of the production areas, as well as the traditions of Japanese denim that can be proud of overseas.
