      The funny thing is I didn't realize I had done it until I watched it back.

    Nice Chopper, I'm working on an R5. As I am currently in the middle of that process, seeing other maker's techniques is really helpful. Thinning down the puddy with acetone is very interesting, I'm going to have to try that.

      It's a good option for helping to stretch your spot putty. I've always found that applying by hand for small layer lines just uses more than you really need, and thinning it down really helps to cut down on that.

    I have to agree on using the acetone/putty mix. Wish I knew that one a few years ago. So many old projects I would love to do over.

    Nice start on the R5. Are you looking at a fully printed Droid, or are you using other material for the body/legs/etc.? I was hoping you'd do one eventually. There is a bit of crossover in the halloween building/Droid building communities. :)

      I’m not actually building a droid, this is just one part of an upcoming lighting project.

    Have you ever considered using a two part epoxy primer? It's a little pricey but great for filling in small gaps and scratches . Another question I have that's a bit off topic is where do you find the best photo reference for the figures in the Haunted Mansion?

    • @VanOaksProps
      @VanOaksProps  Рік тому

      I have, but like you mentioned catalyzed primers are not cheap. Definitely good, and a big timesaver, but not for casual makers/hobbyists.
      As for reference photos, mice chat has a few threads on the mansion that are really useful. Also photo sites like Flickr are full of great images that people have taken over the years.

    Sanding, sanding and more sanding. Only way to get a perfect finish unfortunately. Great work.
