For my fellow westerners: this is a depiction of the events at a teahouse. The scene is a tea room with a shoji (paper) window (the big grid-like thing in the background). The patron (a man, played by one of the female performers) is seated with a Geiko in what appears to be the tea ceremony. The Geiko and Maiko entertain with song and Kyomai, the Dance of Kyoto. The patron plays a table game, Konpira Fune Fune with the Geiko. Each in turn touches a disk between them in time with the song. Each either touches the disk with their palm or picks it up. If you pick it up your opponent must touch their fist on the table. If they touch the table with their palm or the disk with their fist they lose the round. The forfeit for losing is to drink a shot of wine. In the scene the patron loses the first round, the Geiko loses the next. They also play a game called Tora Tora Tora (Tiger Tiger Tiger). The rules are the same as for Rock-Paper-Scissors. The players stand and at the end of the song assume one of three positions: Old Woman beats Samurai, who beats Tiger, who beats Old Woman. Patrons at one time were schooled in Japanese tradition and were able to perform the dances with the Geiko and Maiko, as shown here. There is a game of balance where the players dance in a circle until one falls down; here, the patron takes a tumble. It is traditional to pour drinks for others, not for oneself and to drink all one is offered. It is considered by some to be great sport to see if they can get the Geiko drunk. At one point the Geiko appears a bit overcome by all she had had to drink but pulls herself together. The Geiko is engaged to entertain for the length of time an incense stick burns. Then she is off to her next engagement. ❀

I can see that this is an old video, but it was so lovely The geiko are, of course, very beautiful and talented, but I'm afraid that they were outshone by the incredibly beautiful and extremely cute, maiko!! The sight of them, and their skill at performing their mai, would be enough to cure any illness!!!! Thank you for this really beautiful video.!
They're so cool and beautiful.... I was moved by their performance I really wanna see them someday And.. It's like a big dream you know, but I also wanna wear their clothes and makeup like them and then perform
You wouldn't be allowed to perform, but there are studios that dress their customers up as maiko and geisha especially in Kyoto. If you want to meet and interact with real maiko and watch them perform there are a couple really great businesses in kamishichiken and miyagawacho that cater to first time guests and foreigners with offering translators^^
Tsuneyuu! She certainly is an amazing dancer, before watching this I had only seen her perform a few times and always thought she was stunning. I had no idea she performed here in this video and thought she was an amazing dancer, I didn't know before reading these posts, but of course it had to be Tsuneyuu. The one and only Tsuneyuu (◕∇◕✿) Thanks for asking the question and thank you Makoto Rocha for answering.
