I actually started vlogging just for myself. I did it so when I look back when I’m older I can see all the things that I did. It’s been fun but a lot of work.

Vlogging is such an interesting way to show your life from a cinematic perspective. I love doing it, but the downside is that when you start a vlog, you can't stop. You always get back to it ah ah

Watching this in December 2020! These tips still apply!
I believe it depends on your purpose. For myself I do Photography and videography and started it as a small business. The fact of the matter is, by doing vlogging or video content it puts me out there and it helps build my brand. You can't be successful in certain fields if you DON'T show your face. It's something I had to accept and get over because I value my privacy. But nobody is gonna know or give a damn who I am if they can't see me.
You inspired me more than just a bit Matti lol just spend 2 months editing my Japan vlogs and enjoyed every second of it

Matti! im glad you made this video! Ive been posting weekly vlogs for the past few weeks, and although I dont get many views, its something I love doing! hopefully one day more people will be able to see them!
Started my vlog 2 months ago and have almost no followers, but oh my, the vlog has already helped me so much! I'm mainly vloging about dog agility competitions and making a coherent story about them help me to better gauge our progress, see some patterns and actually evaluate my own reaction to what happens on the competition day. Plus for me it's a great pleasure to be learning something new and video creating is a great outlet for me. Feels silly now that like half a year ago I thought I really don't like videos at all.

Filming with the sun at your back, with proper exposure on your face (most of the time), on a one wheel... camera has issues but the vlogger is always on point! Thanks for the work Matti!

Just jump into it everyone! It get's easier over time! At the beginning I wanted to be behind the camera similar to what Matti was saying because it's what I was comfortable with; all my experience was filming from behind the camera, so naturally that will be my go to. As you film yourself more, you'll get more and more comfortable with it, it just takes time! Also, my first time on camera compared to these days 😂😂😂

Great video Matti. I recently started a channel and have the upmost respect for anyone who can manage vlogs on a regular basis. I've started out doing a video once every two weeks and didnt realise how much work needs to go into it.

I did a video this year on my channel where I climbed up a mountain with my pal I really enjoyed making the video but feel like I would have to keep doing something big to make a video but after watching this it's shown me to just go out and film. Topman

Greatly agree on everything you just said buddy, especially the work ethics. Sometimes if I will let the time just past by without me doing anything at all, I will always run out of YT post, so I guess after posting you need to think ahead of the next post like instantly. But not a problem if you love editing and staying infront of your cam or PC. Mostly I always use my Logitech C930e and talk to it (literally), but since I saw this episode, I think I like to go out as well and do something like this too (except for the 1 wheel i guess). Very Inspiring bro. Thanks for sharing.

Formal filmmaking is so collaborative, and you spend a ton of time on one quality piece of content.
The thing about vlogging is that it's all you, and you have to film yourself so it's even harder than the standard one-man-band thing. To be a filmmaker-vlogger is actually super impressive in light of that.
With that being said, though. There are a lot of successful youtubers and vloggers out there that I wouldn't classify as filmmakers. Some of them would not thrive as a film director or a DP, and I think that's worth acknowledging too.

"Being okay with being on camera" is a huge one. In the years since the Travel Feels tutorials on colour grading etc, you have become a different person on screen, Matti. Which is a relief, because that guy from 2017 was STIFF. Love watching you grow as a presenter, filmmaker and family man.

Currently watching this because I want to start a youtube channel centered around vlogs which i've been hesitant to do because I do in fact feel like I'm super boring and I live on a farm in the middle of nowhere and when you said "I'd love to see what it's like living on a farm in the middle of nowhere" it hit me like a truck lol!

the 360 camera is awesome and i love how it takes the stick out of the video but in the opening montage its funny because although there is no stick in the video, the shadow for the stick is still there!
