    Thank you for showcasing the biggest issue with this rifle. I bought mine second hand and it was not shimmed/adjusted properly. I didn't know that you needed to do that for it to function properly and couldn't figure out what was wrong with the poor thing, but now I know everything about the rifle. That being said, I am getting some shims, but to fix the issue you fixed by removing material, wouldn't it be ok to make a precise washer to fill that gap, rather than trim everything?

    So Springfield Armory sells a rifle for $1800.00 that has to be repaired by the purchaser before it shoots properly.

      When the rifle was designed it had a wood stock that was intended for combat. The barrel tension coming out of the factory is to allow the stock to expand under certain conditions.

      @Jajroofing24 Good evening. We'll, my Gunsmith, own a few of the scout m1a's. I did email him and check mine over to see if that's the problem. He loves figuring out stuff like this and getting onto the manufacturer on not picking up the issue. It seems like this is an issue on the socom 16 models. I sent him your video to watch and look over. Let's see what he can find out.

    I want to buy a M1a very badly but I have just heard horror stories about them being not nearly as accurate as they were rumored to be, I am no gunsmith , I am a novice at best, I can not afford to spend the money on a M1A only to have to sink more money into it to make it accurate, so disappointing what Springfield has let happen to this rifle.

    Hey John,I have a M1A SOCOM 16 CQB That I bought second hand. I mounted a Vortex Red Dot on it and took it to the range to sight in. At 25 yrd the grouping was tight but at 100 yrd it looked like a buckshot pattern. Needless to say I was disappointed! I was shooting IMI ammo. I have looked at M1A blogs and UA-cam videos looking for advice on what kind of ammo these rifles like. Then I ran across you video and realized it's probably the gun itself. I am interested in having this fixed. I love The rifle and the way it shoots but without any decent accuracy it's pretty much worthless. I would like to talk to you about it.

    Too bad you just didn’t do it right and shim the gas block like the rest of us! Everyone knows Springfield armory doesn’t know what a spec is. That’s why I don’t buy Springfield, buy BULA or LRB. I guess it just depends where you want to start. How’d your crown job turn out?

    • @Jajroofing24
      @Jajroofing24  3 місяці тому

      Swimming the gas block is for timing the brake, not what the problem was the muzzle and brake did not mate end result was a very small turbulent chamber affecting accuracy. This is a 1/2 moa gun at all distances up to 500 yards, my ranges max distance. The crown turned out to be a hugely beneficial item.

    • @NeroontheGoon
      @NeroontheGoon 3 місяці тому

      @@Jajroofing24 I just picked up BULA Defence DMR M-21 and I’m very happy with the way it shoots. Broke the barrel in on Saturday and using Federal 168 gr Tac was getting 1/2” inches at 100 yards benched. Ran it out to 300 and was spot on. Do you run yours scoped or irons? The BULA I’m running has a 19 1/4” barrel on it and I’m thinking that it might just outshoot my LRB with a 22” on it. Did you replace your op rod guide by chance? Those Sadlak op rods are worth their weight in gold and really settle the op rod down. Was wondering how your crown job turned out! Does Springy use a chrome lined barrel on the Socom? I wasn’t sure and that’s why I asked. My brother has a Socom and he loves it, kinda why I bought the 19 1/2”er. Mine comes with an integrated Pic rail bridging the receiver and I’m trying one of the Arken Optics Killbox 1X8-34 on it, so far so good for a Chinese wannabe. Going to go to McMillan stocks on Monday and see about a fiberglass stock for it, not necessary but what the hell. My wood stock is showing a bit of light under the heel and I’d rather bed a fiberglass stock than cut the wood up on the walnut stock just to bed it.
