    I haven't smiled so much with the ending of a video as I did with this one in a long, long time, David. As I've already mentioned here and on Twitter, I've just discovered your channel some months ago, after you quit, then came back, and then did some videos here and there. I really love your content and think it's very useful for me, so I am very happy that you are definitely back! I wish you the very best in this return and for 2023. Have fun! Cheers! 🍻

    David is back! Great video. Can't wait to see more.
    Yes, besides the handy tap-to-focus that normally does the trick Even Longer has manual focusing. Tapping the magnifier button brings up a magnification square and the manual focus adjustment slider. Just drag the square over your point(s) of interest and check the focus in full resolution and adjust if needed.

    ND filters are quite useful, especially in very sunny bright conditions. Whenever you wanna record a video with the correct shutter speed or taking a long exposure like in this case. Quite handy to have one.

    I really like your videos. They are calm, well planned and thoughtful. You also do a fantastic job with your audio, lighting and color grading of the video. You’re also getting me back to thinking about taking photos with my iPhone again, which I pretty much gave up in favor of my Fuji cameras. The over processed “Deep Fusion” look of iOS turned me away creatively from iPhone. Your videos show that you can indeed get really nice results using more manual methods. Please keep making more of these. I like your review videos too. I think your best videos are where you talk about your approach and thought process.

    David, a couple of things. #1 You are my favorite "explainer" for this amateur iPhone photographer. I still get twisted up with ISO, EV etc. You seem to have a knack of being able to pull it together for me. I will forget in 10 minutes. However, I promise I will practice. 2. Your honesty. You have no reason whatsoever to ever lose confidence man. Just know you are always 1000 steps ahead of me! Ha. 3. This video is not a miracle. You promised that you would do a Darkroom edit just for me and you did. I wholeheartedly appreciate it mate. Keep up the great work. When I get an Addison notification, I stop everything, run upstairs and watch. The family may be stuck with a prolonged Netflix pause. However, there are some good high def screen savers out now in 4k. Thank you!

    • @dwightbroemanphotosandart
      @dwightbroemanphotosandart Рік тому +1

      @@David_Addison I think the numbers themselves. I know to start with the lowest ISO that I can. I guess EV is where it looks right on screen. This is fine for heic or jpg right? RAW, we need to test capture and then evaluate on a RAW viewer. Agree that Darkroom is best! Someday Inwould like to at least know some starting points for EV. Maybe my starting point is where the auto settings dial into. Maybe I am making it more tough than it needs to be. 🤪😵‍💫

    • @David_Addison
      @David_Addison  Рік тому +2

      @@dwightbroemanphotosandart EV is used to adjust auto exposure. For example, if auto makes things too bright then you'd dial in -1 EV etc... Whereas ISO and shutter speed are manual controls. I can feel a video coming on...

I will try that soon nearby wit the Elbe river here in Hamburg ... But apart from that: great video Andy, you really cover a niche in iPhone photography which is getting more and more interesting with improving quality of the smartphone cameras and sensors. For waterfalls it helps a lot to achieve the look shown in this video. To get results reasonably close to these you need to shoot a lot longer than 7 seconds. Without bracketing I found 20-30 seconds to work for me. With bracketing it would be at least one minute due to the drastically reduced frame rate. For waterfalls I personally do not use bracketing. I expose for the highlight and bring up the shadows in post.
