Power cuts in April - prepare to sweat! Great vid guys. Don't forget work permits. These were a big thing in 2015. Your employer is supposed to arrange these. They do sporadic checks and back-date the fines. We got hit for $100 per year for working without a work permit. Up until 2015 no-one had a permit. I had kittens because I'd been there since 2003 - would have been over $1K! Luckily they went back to the oldest visa date in my current passport. Just something to be aware of.
GlobeTrotter135 how do children find the accent? I’m Scottish so having an accent is the same as you guys. I stayed in PP this time last year for just over a month and loved the place. Looking at heading back in the next couple months. Same situation as you, no degree but have teaching experience and 190 hours TEFL course. Very informative tho!
@@samb3360 how are you mate? The accent wasn't really a massive issue, the kids were very fast at becoming comfortable with our accents and pace of speech. So much so that after a little while you could hear little Dublin accents on them and different Irish slang coming out that they just picked up 😂 quite often when myself or Jess walked into class we were greeted with "what's the story teacher?" 😂😂😂
GlobeTrotter135 I’m good mate. And I’m Edinburgh so not too thick an accent. Sure I could teach them a little of our slang 😉. So last time I was across stayed down riverside (standard) but been looking at a few places online to get an idea of what’s available. What are are you guys staying in? The demo lesson, guessing that’s just a mock up of how you would teach a class?
Howya Lads, great video, love listening to the Dub accents! Thanks for taking the time to make and post the great video! Are ye folks still in Cambodia, or did ye bolt for home due to Covid? I recently completed TEFL Level5, Teaching Business English, Teaching Young Learners and Teaching Online 1 to 1, all online due to Covid. Understand all schools are currently closed in Cambodia. Any tips for a new graduate of more advanced years? I'm 62, and a footloose globetrotter. Spent a couple of weeks in Cambodia before Covid exploded on the scene which put a stop to my rambling around SE Asia,.Would like to go back to Cambodia to teach English. Any additional advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Go raibh maith agat.
Hi love your video's. Planning on coming up there to work with hubby and our two sons. We have a daughter who is in grade 4 now. Just wanted info on the schools for her. We are from south africa
This is so good!! I’ve learnt so much from this! I plan on tefling in Cambodia hopefully soon! Do you guys have an Instagram or something that I could follow? I’m absolutely loving these videos!
Thank so much Mauritia, we're delighted you got any information you were looking for from the video. Yes we do have Instagram, we have links in the video descriptions to our social media accounts. Have an amazing day, thanks so much for the lovely comment 🙏👌💚
Thank you for this informative vblog. I"m from Nigeria and would like to venture into the world of teaching English abroad. Please kindly recommend a TEFL course provider I can register with.
You can get a English teacher job in Cambodia without any certifications such as ESL,TEFL,TESOL etc. I know people who have done so. You do need a good cv, dress well, speak english articulately and sell yourself. There not the norm however qualifications are overrated.
Do you think it would be harder to find a job there as a colored polynesian?. Also, did you guys just take a leap and travel there and stay a little until you found a job then you found a living space?
Hi Amanaki, no I don't think you would have much trouble finding work. I didn't find ethnicity to be a problem while we were there, I worked with people in my school of all shapes, colours, sizes etc the Khmer people are very welcoming. We kind of planned going there but we just had an air bnb booked for 2 weeks when we landed and nothing else, and within that 2 weeks we found jobs and an apartment to rent. Very easily done. Facebook helped alot with the groups.
Hi guys do you think it would be difficult to find a job with a bachelor degree and no TEFL? Or with a bachelor degree and cheap TEFL? I have volunteer experience in a classroom
I just received my level-5 180 hr Tefl Certificate yesterday!

In 20 years Cambodia adults will speak English with a funny mix of Australian, British and North American accents. :)
Sweet thanks for the info m8, some good advice.

Nope not really that difficult to find a job without a tefl I wouldn't imagine. Bachelor degree is highly regarded there
I dont think grab will get you from the airport.
I didn’t catch what you guys are making salary wise ? Googles info is from about 2 years ago
Doucheous Malfoy around $1000-$1200 per month

Hi guys . Im currently teaching in hanoi and thinking of moving over to Cambodia. Do you have a facebook i can add you on? Im john from Ireland
Can a non native teach in Cambodia?
Of course they can. We work with people from the Philippines, Belgium. There's lots of non-natives here that teach English.
