It can’t hurt!
Have cabinets over 30 years and never had problems with the holes, but they do look nice.
It’s not insanely common but it does happen!

I've recently been confronted with the need to make a wall-hanging cabinet for my home. Since I don't know when I'll build one with adjustable shelves, I think I can make a template myself, and since it's for shelves, I can use whatever spacing I want. But I'll look into the inserts and sleeves.
Absolutely! Reach out on IG if you need any help!
I like the idea of shelf pin inserts. They look great, plus the holes are stronger. I love over engineering projects! 👍👊
Right on!
Looking forward to learn as much as I have on your other channel! Just moved from Sweden to NJ and amazing to find all hardwoods you have here. We only get fir and pine.
Welcome to Jersey! Thanks for subscribing!
Really like those inserts. They give a cabinet a very professional look beyond their functionality.
And the other colors are a nice option.
Thank you! The fact that the wood holes wear out is exactly what I hate about shelf pins. This is good to know.

Would love to see more tips on common woodworking techniques. Every time I need to handle, plane, shape etc small wooden pieces for something I find it hard to fasten while working on it/them. Especially since shaping usually involves sharp chisels, planes, knives.
