Do you have a Nikon Zf or plan on getting one?
Pete, the ZF has two card slots. One is a mini SD. Think of it as internal memory. Also long before Fuji had it Nikon had a switch for video and photo.

I already tried the Zfc and really liked it, so I’ll be trading my FF Sony in on this next and going full-on Nikon again for the first time in 8 years.
It’s not just the retro design (which I admit is very cool), but the features, great sensor, impressive autofocus, processor, etc. it just seems to be a very good all-round package.
Nice to see Nikon didn’t half-ass this camera just to be “trendy”.
Right, it certainly seems like it's designed to be a great camera but not at the expense of the retro design.
Recently got my ZF and it is an AMAZING camera! This camera is by far the best value in its class bar none.I wish there's a Deeper grip out ther other than the Smallrig
There are some wood grips online that's a bit deeper than the smallrig one

I love my ZF. I bought it not for the style, but the features built into it. I like the articulating screen, the autofocus system is very good, built quality is fantastic, adding the IBIS function to the autofocus point is a great option in this camera. I also like the black and white switch. I didn't think I would use it, but it is convenient to make the quick switch to it. Overall, it is a fun camera to use. I do have the Small Rig grip on it and it's helpful. I do shoot with larger lenses with this camera, but it doesn't bother me.

I think the NIKON DF is sexier looking IMO. Yes, I know they are 2 different cameras but that DF looks awesome and produces special Nikon images the same way the D700 did.

My Z8 did come with a charger, but one thing where I really have to compliment Fuji, is the included strap.
The strap included with the Nikon Z8 is just your average, cheap strap, while the one included in my X-H2 was super thick, padded and rubberized. So, when I sold the Fuji, I kept the strap, and I'm now using it on the Nikon. 😅
The Fuji strap is nice! Still no charger there either though. You know how crazy using that strap on a Nikon would make some people? 😅😅😅 I'm like you I don't care. Ive used Canon straps on my Fujis lol.
Have you tried the Z8?
I think if you really want to experience Nikon at its best the ZF isn't the best option, because the ergonomics and controls aren't like a "normal" pro Nikon camera. With that said, Nikon raw files are amazing and I suppose the ZF have the same excellent quality raw files that other Nikon cameras.
About SD, it have two slots, one SD and one MicroSD. Most people buy a fast 256gb or bigger MicroSD and let it inside the camera like an internal storage, and managed it like an internal storage. As a action cam user i have good big microSD and i can say that the speeds are the same of normal SD.
Haven't tried the Z8 yet. I will talk about the micro sd in my next vid, but yes, people really were not happy with me for overlooking that LOL. Personally, I still wouldn't want a micro sd as a 2nd slot, but it's better than nothing of course.
Camera for me. Fuji take a lot inspiration from various Contax camera bodies... ;)
I’ve noticed that over the last two months that there are quite a few Fuji users are also buying Zfs. I could be wrong but my sense is that many Fuji users are buying the Zf as a complement to their existing Fuji system rather than a replacement. Certainly, that’s my mindset right now. One of the great things about both systems is the fact that the screen information shifts to align with a vertical position when you’re in portrait orientation. It seems like a fairly trivial point but I find that I can’t use another system anymore after getting used to this feature on both the newer Fuji and Nikon cameras. I’m wondering why other camera manufacturers haven’t followed their lead?
It certainly hits a lot of marks for Fuji users who love the retro design and manual dials. That's why I wanted to check it out too! I think you are right that it's probably to compliment a system rather than replace it.

I was torn between the Fujifilm XT-5 and the Nikon Zf. I finally decided to go in and buy the Zf in-store. When I actually got to handle the camera, it just didn’t feel right. I wasn’t thrilled with its ergonomics. I asked to also see the Fujifilm XT-5. The ergonomics felt much better as I don’t have large hands. I ended up buying the XT-5. It just felt much better in the hands. The Zf is a wonderful camera, no doubt, but for me Nikon missed the mark with regard to ergonomics. But I guess each photographer will be different in terms of what feels right in their hands, and for me, actually holding both cameras in my hands convinced me to go for the Fujifilm.
It certainly doesn't have the ergonomics of an X-T5 or 4, I agree. The major difference is that Fuji is invested in the classic design and for Nikon these are just one off cameras, at least at this point. Plus, Fuji has so many amazing lenses for the system so it's tough to compete.
Nikon really need to encourage Sigma to bring their I series to z mount.
The analog dials are made out brass.

If you end up really liking the Zf after getting used to the Nikon way of doing things, would you consider replacing your RF system with the Z system? I know it’s too early for you to answer that. Let’s see how you like the Z 85/1.8 first. 😊
Too early to tell! Although I do love Nikon cameras and I'm sure that I would be happy with a Z system.

I would love to purchase this camera, but I will need the rumored Nikon Z6III for my lowlight action shots instead. BTW, I rented the Fuji X-H2s for a dance performance, and overall it worked very well with my Tamron 17-70 2.8. I struggled from time to time to achieve focus, probably due to user error, but once locked on, this camera is a beast! The X-H2s is in a very different league than my XT-5 for autofocus performance. Iso 5000 held up pretty well and as stated many times, Fuji has a very fine, film-like "grain" structure compared to my high megapixel Z8 and Z9 cameras. I use my Xt-5 for walkaround and vacation photos, so the X-H2s and X-H2 are still in the testing phase, not to mention my slim budget right now.
Awesome. XH2s is on another level. Fuji AF always depends on the lens too, which is frustrating. On my Canon, any old EF lens focuses super fast and accurately, it doesn't matter which I use.
Hopefully Fuji will have some more firmware updates to improve auto fucus like Nikon has done with their Z series cameras. I was very impressed with the X-H2s! If I can afford it in the future, I will probably opt for the X-H2 with the higher megapixels for cropping. @@PeteCocoPhoto

What gave you the PTSD lol?
I’m a bit older. Glass coatings and flare on the old lenses. Back focusing on FF, and just missing focus more than I nailed it. The size and weight. I did love those Nikon colors though. I shoot m43 now and have more keepers. Missing key moments due to garbage focusing and slow cameras was especially bad shooting weddings and events.
Mostly just missing those once in a lifetime moments.

I did a genuine unboxing - meaning I gave first impressions without watching other vids of the camera. I missed it! Lol but I learned my lesson for the next time. But to be frank a Micro SD card does not qualify as a true second card slot for anyone shooting professionally.
I really wish the Zf was styled more like an F2 but I might be suffering from purchase bias haha
F2 is a beautiful camera so I don't blame you lol
Have to return. Not sharp for the 1:15 40mm and other f amount lenses with adapters

Well, I was really tempted when the Zf was announced. But, after the first reviews and holding it in my own hands in a local camera store, I was disappointed with it. Because of the large Z mount the camera is big and chunky, the flippy screen is awful on a photo camera and this weird mixture of PASM and dedicated dials doesn’t make any sense. The Fuji system is much better thought through.
Yes, the Zf looks gorgeous, but it’s just cosmetics. There is absolutely no transition of the concept of a FM or FE2. It’s a Z6III with a weird UX in a nice black dress - that’s it.
I think many others will share your sentiments. I'm gonna reserve judgment until I use it but for me it's the lack of an aperture ring that might be the biggest issue.
I used to own both XT-5 and ZF, and sold the XT-5 without a second thought.
How is Fuji system much better thought through?
- In order to make acceptable/good lenses, they had to go full frame size.
- XT-5 feels like a plastic toy compared to ZF build quality.
- Low light performance on 45 mp is mediocre at best, i am not going to compare it to ZF FF sensor, it is really embarrassing.
- ZF has IBIS that you can shoot hand held easily up to 0,5 seconds.
- Auto-focus is not even a comparison here. PLUS manual focus eye tracking on ZF.
- ZF comes with free grip in most markets, which helps a lot.
- Lastly, there are a ton of different manual lenses with aperture ring to select from Nikon F mount.
- I am also not a huge fan of the flippy screen, but being able to flip & hide it is a huge plus and a very clever design.
You get all these for 2000 US dollars, so ZF being "just cosmetics" is a really bold statement here.
Many Retro cameras from the past has PASM. Plus, Fuji is a crop Sensor and why have a large flange on a Crop sensor camera?

@@davecrissinger8967 I have an XT4 and 5, neither have this dial. It doesn't need to be a dial but even a menu option which easily puts it in program would be cool. Honestly I shoot manual all the time so I'm thinking more for people who are confused with how to get an X-T5 into program mode lol.
Got rid of mine after 2 weeks. There is always an extra button press or menu dive getting in the way with every different lens fitted.
Can you elaborate on that?

Sony and Canon continue to build a1 or R3 in japan.
