I agree, bro. "You get what you pay for" doesn't always apply with basses because there are so many affordable great basses out there, and I think SX basses are worth owning.
Sounds wonderful! Like a ' 74 Fender P-bass. Especially with pick. Beautiful vintage sound. Slap sounded good too. Both SX PB57 and SX PB62 are on my to buy list.
I just bought my first SX back in November - the Andromeda 3TS jazz bass. Great instrument for the price. Hell, just a great bass overall, regardless of what's written on the headstock. It's now become one of my main gigging basses. Thinking I might grab an SX P-bass down the line. Nice review, man.
bflo1000 I have a Fender Am Std that I play even less than the SX. It's a great bass for sure. I have the sunburst finish one that isn't available anymore on Rondo's site. They were having a sale on them and I got it for about $188.00 shipped.
I got to get my hands on one of these yesterday to do a setup for a friend. Very interesting experience! Very much a tale of two halves, the adjustments themselves were a pain. The truss rod nut was rubbish, and the bridge was hideous. Also, I had to tell him to get the frets sorted if he wanted it to go any lower, there were some sprouting a bit. Also, the tuning heads, while functional, were hit and miss. Also, raising and lowering the pickups took some pursuasion, but i got there. On the flip side, when i got it to the same specs as my fender (more or less), it was really, really nice to play. Not just 'for the price', i was genuinely disappointed when he came to pick it up. He's decided to upgrade as he goes, starting with the bridge. Great instrument, with some crappy bits of tin stuck on. Would reccomend!
hi rumblin man. I was on the fence about purchasing the sx p bass, but I just heard you play yours and you just pushed me over the fence. it sounds awsome!!! I have a chris aiken bass with round sounds. bought some thomastik flats to put on it but I like the sound with the round sounds for that one. I will put the flats on the sx p when I get it. that should be a nice duo. Thanks for posting, I'm subscribing to your channel/site.
I just got my SX Jazz in Candy Apple Red with the maple neck. I can honestly say this is one of the best basses I've ever held...and I play Warwick basses lol
I have a Squire and an Esp Ltd P Bass but the Warwick jazz give me the growl I want. I'm going to pick up that same P Bass model you have in this video.
Great video, been considering purchasing an SX Ursa Bass after a friend turned me onto rondo music and was skeptical because of the low price, but this changed my mind! Will be ordering asap!
It sounds killer for the roice. I love it. Would totally recommend the SX jazz bass. I just got my SX precision bass yesterday. Gave it a setup, new strings, and she flew.
After rewatching this review, I can say that it even with as far as you have advanced, this one is just as relevant now as it was back then. I have loved (and still love) the SX basses and I’m really disappointed to see that they’re on their way out☹️
Loved the video. I just ordered this same exact model a few days ago and it'll be arriving sometime tomorrow. The only difference is that I'm left-handed. I honestly cannot wait. I am going to slap some flats on it and play the living hell out of it. This would be my second SX bass. I've got Jazz bass that's equivalent to the Squier VM 70s jazz bass or Fender Deluxe Jazz. It's $200, but dang. The bass is freaking awesome! Next to my 77' Precision bass, it's my next go to bass. I use it for everything. I was even more surprised when I took it out the box because the body is made out of American Ash, and the neck is real American Maple. The block inlays aren't painted on like the Squier, they're actually real. It's insane what you get for these prices. At first, I thought they were too good to be true, but they're awesome basses. I would totally recommend the Jazz SX. It's awesome!
Yeah man I totally agree. Something is wrong with the electronics in my precision right now, but I'll get it fixed at some point I'm sure. Which bass did you order?? I'm glad they make lefty basses because honestly Fender does not have enough options for left-handed players. How does the jazz sound?? I'd like to have one.
i would without a doubt for sure! don't get me wrong cause Squier basses are good too though an SX bass will do what other higher end basses do without breaking your bank! i've had many bass guitars in my life time & i truly find SX Ursa basses very pleasing to play whether it be for practice or concert performances it'll do the job for a very low price. cheers!
To my ears, the sound of the SX is a perfect copy of the Fender!....i Have SX Jazz 57 and 62, Fender P and Sandberg, but SX is Great in P....Thanks, very nice job
I have a Squier VM Jaguar with stingray type p/u configuration. I just couldn't make it work for me until I put a set of flats on it. Good Review bro. Peace.
there's an old saying "you get what you paid for", but in this case the SX Ursa basses are worth buying for the very low price it cost. it's a 100% bass for sure!
Danielle I have this same P- bass from SX and I'm ready to sell it. I dont like the way it sounds it's only a year old. Anyone want it it's yours for $200 with a hard shell case.
Great vid! I am thinking about getting one of these but I have doubts about the scale radius feel. It says on the website that it has 15". Isn't too flat compared to the regular modern Fenders?
you are an extremely talented bass player my friend ! What are your thoughts on using one of these for pop punk? and how is the bass in dropped tunings ?? Thanks you! ~Joe
thanks very much, Joe!! In pop punk, the Precision bass is the perfect bass. If you're on a real tight budget, this is the bass to get. Put some good round-wound strings on it, and it'll do a great job for you!! It should be able to handle dropped tunings well, I imagine.
Joe, it all depends on what model you're looking at. There are some Squier basses that are far better instruments than the SXs. However, the SX are better than the lower end Squiers. Shoot me a private message and I'll give you a free consultation.
Man, I just found out about these from Earl at maxproud, too! So excited about these. Why the Warwick hate, though? Hahaha. I never played one, just curious. Thump on, sir!
Hey bro. Thanks. I found out about these from Earl as well, and they're fantastic. I'm not a warwick fan because I think they put too much emphasis on innovation than on tone and play-ability, and I hate how they feel in my hands. But, to each his own.
Ugh... I am getting tired of the scrawny necks on my Ibanez Soundgears, I would love to try out one of those SX Ursa 1 basses! For the price, I bet I wouldn't lose much if I picked one up, played it and if I decided I hated it dump it off on Craigslist...
Update. This stared me down a road of SX instruments. I now have the basic model P bass / rosewood board in burst, the 5 string J bass maple board in burst, and the 4 string alder body PJ bass maple board in burst... Plus a B stock Hawk (strat type guitar) in candy apple red with a maple board... All the basses needed strings, but once restrung have been awesome. The guitar came with D'Addario strings and was awesome right off the bat...
I have the same exact bass, I'm a beginner so I just want to see if my bass was a "good" bass if you know what I mean... And any things I could do to improve reply it would help :-)
I got the exact same one, color combo and everything... Although I thought it sounded pretty decent with a light touch, I generally have a pretty heavy picking style and I thought it sounded abnormally harsh when you dig in too far... dynamics didn't translate as well as on other P-basses I've played. Adjusting the pickup height didn't help much. Pots were stratchy out of the box.. I replaced all of the electronics. Duncan SPB-1 replaced the stock ceramic pickup. Sounds excellent now. I too had fret level issues, which my guy leveled out. All in all I spent under $300 for a very usable bass... Should I have just sprung for a Squire? Maybe. It was a fun project either way.
Man, I'd rather have an SX than a Squier… unless it was one of the good Squiers, such as the Classic Vibe Series, the Vintage Modified 70's Jazz, or the Matt Freeman Precision which is awesome. I've had trouble with mine as well. I had to get my friend to work on the very problematic electronics. The pickup doesn't blow me away, but I think it sounds great for such an affordable bass. I love the woods they used and the general feel of the bass.
I enjoyed the video until you said god bless. i find this offensive to my culture and people and you can expect me to never watch a video of yours again.
Wow,Great Tone,Perfection for sure. sound's just as good as any Fender !
I agree, bro. "You get what you pay for" doesn't always apply with basses because there are so many affordable great basses out there, and I think SX basses are worth owning.

Awesome, dude. Thanks! I hope to get an SX Jazz down the line. They seem like great basses!

I've got a an Sx Jazz vintage series and the sound of that guitar is unbelievable for the price, not to mention the guitar looks amazing.
How do you like the SX Jazz?? I would like to get one when I can afford it.
Rumblin Man It's amazing. The sound is so smooth and the neck feels perfect. I am very happy with it.
Nice!! Thanks for the comments. I'm thinking about getting a second SX myself.
This is a really beautiful bass
Mochi x Wobble agreed!
This is a really great bass, I'm a beginner an it was my first bass and I loved that I chose it (:
hi rumblin man. I was on the fence about purchasing the sx p bass, but I just heard you play yours and you just pushed me over the fence. it sounds awsome!!! I have thought about getting that exact same model. I consider any bass to be superior to what Warwick has to offer, but that's just me.
My Warwick has been the best so far for my melodeath metal band..it's very fast to play on. I know they are an acquired taste though lol
James Hochmuth haha well to each his own. Different basses work for different things I guess. Have you tried using the sound of a P Bass?
I have a Squire and an Esp Ltd P Bass but the Warwick jazz give me the growl I want. I'm going to pick up that same P Bass model you have in this video.
James Hochmuth yeah man for your type of music I definitely recommend having one!
I love my SX Fretless !
great basses!
Great video, been considering purchasing an SX Ursa Bass after a friend turned me onto rondo music and was skeptical because of the low price, but this changed my mind! Will be ordering asap!
Go for it! Can't beat the value. Sounds and feels great. The electronics are kinda crap but that's not a huge deal.
It sounds killer for the roice. I love it. Would totally recommend the SX jazz bass. I just got my SX precision bass yesterday. Gave it a setup, new strings, and she flew.
awesome. what color?
After rewatching this review, I can say that it even with as far as you have advanced, this one is just as relevant now as it was back then. I have loved (and still love) the SX basses and I’m really disappointed to see that they’re on their way out☹️
Thanks so much bro!! I’m with ya. I love their guitars and their basses.
They’re still being made. 👍

Great sounding bass. I may have to pick one up for flat wounds. Good idea and an economical way to have both.
P-bass plus flatwounds plus a pick is the way to go. Thumbs up. Also worth trying with some tube overdrive or some fuzz ;)
i would without a doubt for sure! don't get me wrong cause Squier basses are good too though an SX bass will do what other higher end basses do without breaking your bank! i've had many bass guitars in my life time & i truly find SX Ursa basses very pleasing to play whether it be for practice or concert performances it'll do the job for a very low price. cheers!

Thanks man! Yeah, I must say…. SX comes pretty close!
I have a Squier VM Jaguar with stingray type p/u configuration. I just couldn't make it work for me until I put a set of flats on it. Good Review bro. Peace.
I'm hearing good things about this and the best thing about them is that they aren't expensive!
Absolutely.
Thanks bro. Yeah, that's the same issue I had with this bass. Sometimes flats fix the issue.
there's an old saying "you get what you paid for", but in this case the SX Ursa basses are worth buying for the very low price it cost. it's a 100% bass for sure!
Holy shit! It sounds great :o
glad ya like it.

I’ll take it 🤪

Joe, it depends on what Squier you're looking at. SXs generally cost less, but there are some Squier models that are better basses.
Great chops bro
thanks bro!
Yes, I believe it is worth the investment, greetings from Rio!!Hot City.

Would you recomend an sx over a squier?

Thanks for the word on SX basses! Love fender tone but not so much the look. What do you think of Rickenbakers 4003/4001?
The Ricks seem like really good basses. I've never played one, though.
Great review great channel my friend
Thank you sir!!
would you recommend a precision rondo bass with maple fretboard??
I have the same exact bass, I'm a beginner so I just want to see if my bass was a "good" bass if you know what I mean... And any things I could do to improve reply it would help :-)

I LIKE IT!
u EVER TRIED THE Douglas WVEB Violin Bass? i HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR REVIEW ON ONE AND CAN'T FIND A GOOD ONE
Randy Burnett never have checked it out, but would like to.
Is this a short scale?
this one is not.
You're friends with Sean Hurley?! (Mayer's bassist?)
yes.
What kind of flatwounds are they?
D'Addario XL Chromes
How're the tuners on these? Do they stay in tune fairly well?
Yeah. Not as well as say the Fenders, but they hold tune.
round wounds x 2.☺☺
Just bought this, here in a few days. What strings would you recommend? Flats?
www.rondomusic.com/ursa2mnct3tsash.html
It's sunburst.
bro you do not like warwick!!! you must have never played one lol. thanks for the review
you already played in the model, more expensive..... . Andromeda Jazz?
I haven't played one. But it seems to be a superior upgrade.
nice and stanky playing.
funny face while plaing
I enjoyed the video until you said god bless. i find this offensive to my culture and people and you can expect me to never watch a video of yours again.
Ha!
Nobody cares. UA-cam wasn’t created by your culture or your people so fuck off.
