- The Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen) is no doubt the best known tourist attraction and has been a magnet for tourists for over 150 years. The characteristic mountain shelf 604 metres (1980ft) over Lysefjord has been visited by hundreds of thousands throughout the years.
From the Preikestolhytta, a 7 km traiI climbs the rest of the 350 metres (1148ft) to the top. Good shoes and physical health are necessary for the 2 - 3 hour hike.
The thought of standing near the edge makes my feet warm and tingly.
A truly wonderful video, and place!! I'd be paralyzed with fear even getting to the top of that rock!
I was here with my family 17 years ago.. wow, how time flies!! An amazing place... very peaceful and inspiring. A long and somewhat arduous "climb" up though! LOL Well, well worth it!! Thanks for posting this video. You've really captured the experience. Too bad I didn't know about the pools at the bottom. I would have loved a swim afterwards!!
This is a great video! It's breathtaking ... next best thing to being there. Thanks for sharing the experience.
Absolutely beautiful, Thanks for sharing this wonderful video.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it, we also had a great time there.
That is great, you are lucky, I grew up in Stavanger but left and emigrated to USA 35 years ago.

Hi,
Thank you for your nice comments.
This was my first time back as well after 35 years.
I have been there in 2007. ---from Taiwan
Wonderful video...but I missed some shots from the edge..:-)
Nice view. Too crowded for my liking though. The music made it scarier. I do a lot of hiking and love views but I don't like to sit on the edge of a cliff. That sheer drop is frightening.
Thanks to google, i got to know about this wonderful place through their email :) though the mountains quite high but its well worth that 2 to 3 hour walk..
Thank you for your nice comments, yes it is scary but very beautiful
I would be very scared even if i would look over the edge!
Were there many accidents happened over the years??
I'm sure you would love it, thanks
I'm even scared for watching this video. I could never go there.
Thanks,
you would love it
Preikestolen is very close about 40 min, but first you have to take a ferry from Stavanger to Tau and then drive from there to Prekestolen parking area.
The hike from the parking area will take you anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours.
The hike can be Strenuous so you should be in good health before taking on this hike.
Thank you for your nice comments, I love making Videos.
Did you enjoy it?
@sigbjorna Hi there...do they have shuttle buses to get from Tau to the Prekestolen parking area...?
When is the best weather to visit pulpit rock?
why the hell aren't there fences around the rock?
been there2 times, amazing place... but why the creepy music? lol
what is the temperature like there?
@ 2:45 the lady on the edge kill 2 ant's?! disgrace for his nature. Nice video btw.
Du kan ikke kalle preikestolen stavanger! det er jo 3-4mil unna
I know a guy who hanged only with his hands on the cliff!
im shittin my pants just watchin this
stavanger er den beste byen og bo mener jeg.
men kan være litt farlig når prekestolen detter ned kjansje.
håper ikke det sjer D:
VIVA MEXICO :)
