Dual screws are the game changer here! I have 99A I use it for dark sky observetions mainly, quality of the optics is insane! I have lightweigth scope that easily rivals bigger aperture astro scopes. I am now thinking of adding Quark solar filter for solar observations. Now researching the topic not to destroy "my precious..." scope :D Does anyone have any expoerience with solar observations with the refractors here? I need any info about potentioal risk of such setup.

Does the new tsn-88 have the same problem of "sticky paint" that the older models have? Or does the new scope have a different external coating?

I’d love to see a revised Highlander with these coatings, I’m guessing brand new highlanders would receive latest coatings?
OR a Kowa produced bracket system that could turn two straight spotters into big binos. Hugely popular in US with third party manufacturers making them for enthusiasts.

Its a lot of extra money for very little improvement .Who really cares how stylish it looks when you out in the field in then rain and mud im still using my old nikon ed82 and ed60 both covered in camo tape both with ds30 eyepieces and ive tried a lot of other peoples scopes costing in the 3k bracket and not one has the clarity of mine .was thinking of buying it only because of the kowa te-80xw which looks amazing so may have to buy the old 883 instead just cant see the point of the extra money for the 88 .

I have to agree with you. With the current pinch on finance affecting everyone's cost of living, I am not going to pick a product that has had very little done to it but the price has leapt up by £800 for 4% extra light ? I like to root for the underdog considering the likes of Swarovski and Leica and Zeiss are also in this space but when you see changes like this and no one is reporting any significant difference compared to the old version it feels like we are being taken for a ride in a time where no one has the money to afford the significant price hike.

Are u really going to notice 4% extra light. And the weight difference is not massive either. I actually prefer it without the black rubber too. I guess the black rubber could wear over time toi?

I have both a Nikon ED82 with 30x wide + 25-75 Zoom and a Kowa 883 with the 25-60 zoom. The 30x is pretty close to the Kowa but with the Zoom the 883 is in a completely different league to the Nikon. Nikon EDG was such a poor move, if they had produced a quality WA Zoom for the ED82 to compare with Kowa & Swaro, I wouldn't have bought an 883. Sometimes Nikon just don't read the mood music.

The dual thread mounts are the best improvement!

Does the TSN-99 have all of the newer features that the TSN-88 has?

Why don’t you make a binocular attachment. I have to go for the Swaro BTX
