Wonderlands x Showtime is a lot more depressing than they’re given credit for, in general. You’ll never hear a Tsukasa fan shut up about how disturbing his backstory is (for good reason, because it really is; Tsukasa is basically one of those kids that had to grow up at a young age and those never end well), Rui has some pretty bad trust and abandonment issues, and Emu is more aware and affected by her family situation than is realized. Nene is basically the only one that I can’t name some deep emotional conflict for and that’s probably only because I haven’t read Mermaid Admiration yet. Even just in their first wave of commissions they’re at the very least two for five with depressing songs (World Hasn’t Even Started Yet and Becoming Potatoes), with two of the other three (Nijiiro Stories and Once Upon A Dream) being ambiguously sad but hopeful (which is par for the course with Wonderlands x Showtime, as seen in their third wave of commissions which are so far all bittersweet songs talking about their eventual parting of ways) and Tondemo Wonders being wacko-screwball nonsense masking Tsukasa’s trauma. What’s almost more sad is that while N25 are actually trying to talk about their issues, the members of Wonderlands x Showtime have not built themselves a nearly good enough support system for this stuff, and they usually never talk about their issues until it interferes with their work. Tsukasa has been left entirely out of the loop for the past two commissions regarding Rui and Emu’s feelings towards their eventual separation (his next focus event is going to be a delight) despite being one of the main catalysts for those feelings, at least in Emu’s case.

I make a pose like I’m gonna save everyone.* ... and speaking of helping... tsukasa won't let himself be helped, huh? yet he helps all he can. i feel like tsukasa thinks that he fulfills a role for someone and then said someone moves on. take toya, for example. i'm not saying that tsukasa doesn't consider him his friend. not at all! tsukasa adores toya and toya adores tsukasa back. but once he met akito he basically went "ah well toya's leaving the nest, i'll leave him in your care

And I’m well aware of how fucked up Tondemo-Wonderz is, but when just looking at the lyrics or listening to the song it is much harder to find the dark undertone of the song, or indeed any sensible meaning to it at all, which is why I referred to it as *”wacko-screwball nonsense masking Tsukasa’s trauma”* . I’ve never read an examination of Tondemo-Wonderz at that deep of a level, though, so thanks for opening my eyes to how badly Tsukasa is messed up.
wanted to add to tsukasa discourse. un the event "never give up cooking!" tenma's throw a white day family tea party, toya is invited. siblings make their preparations (room, decoration, tea/coffee, etc) and toya makes cupcakes for the tenmas and vbs, since he's at it. rui ends up helping both toya and tsukasa. with toya, he helps him to even think about making cupcakes, how they should be, encouraged toya, when his first try wasn't good enough to even look at (the first time we see rui with "blued" face btw) and so on, being supportive director he is. with tsukasa tho, situation is a little different. tsukasa wants to throw a little play for saki and toya, because it's what he's always been doing for them to make them feel better, and when he's out of ideas he asks rui's opinion, and rui says "tsukasa, i'm sure saki and toya love you because you're their family, not because you're an actor. let yourself be yourself at least with them for once", and tsukasa is genuinely surprised by this revelation. yet, he still thanks rui a lot and tries to just enjoy himself on the gathering
I am a sucker for tsukasa backstory stuff. I wouldn't go as far as to say his parents treated him similarly as Mafuyu's parents do considering Mafuyu's mum is, without question, abusive. Meanwhile, Tsukasa's parents *couldn't* be there for him because Saki was ill in hospital. Mafuyu has unwillingly become a puppet for her mother, meanwhile Tsukasa *chose* to be a puppet for other people because he *wants* to make other people happy. Tsukasa is willingly being what others want and expect of him, with no regard for himself whatsoever. Tsukasa's priorities are always other people, and whenever he does something to upset someone he beats himself up about it (calling himself useless etc). He is a people-pleaser to such an extreme degree, you can't look at all this and then say he's perfectly fine. And people are a sucker for the happy outgoing people secretly not being very okay, so ofc Tsukasa fans (such as myself) won't shut up about it lmao Edit: yeah so about the puppet thing? We got a puppeteer Tsukasa card so- +Plus inferiority complex. Lovely.

He uses being a future star as an excuse to deny his issues. Kanade's funds could be mostly coming from her dad's savings and her grandmother. In the story, it's stated that the grandmother can't live/take care of Kanade because she's in the hospital most of the time. She also sends Kanade care packages of food occasionally so it's safe to assume that her grandma is the one who takes care of the bills/sets up automatic rent payments so Kanade doesn't have to worry. Due to Kanade's mom passing away and Kanade's dad becoming ill, I think her grandma became super protective of Kanade.
people keep downplaying tsukasa and emu as "loud obnoxious childish" people which is the exact opposite. while yes, they act childish, especially emu, tsukasa is EXTREMELY mature, and he takes care of people really well. while emu doesnt act like it, its obvious shes really emotionally mature. just look at everything that happens to her, from her family to people laughing negatively at her, she still puts a smile on her face. and well tsukasa; he WANTS people to be happy. hes not some idiot doing stupid things for no reason, he want them to laugh. to smile. because of saki. hes a GREAT brother and probably the best one. even though he didnt receive attention as a child due to his sister, he never resented her, and instead just wants the best for her and all. he puts on the mask all the time to hide his obvious trauma and sadness. while someone like mafuyu has her friends and all to talk to, tsukasa is the kind to plaster a smile and act like everythings okay. i love this man
He is loud and obnoxious but he does it to make people happy. Emu is just like that because thats how she is genuinely. But its uh.. hard to like Tsukasa for me. Hes mature but hes too much.

5:25 - Actually to add on to Suicidal Honami, I don't remember when exactly and I don't really remember the details but at some point Kanade asked Honami indirectly about help for Mafuyu and Honami stated that she used to want to disappear too and also gave some advice and stuff but I really don't remember.
I forgot which event that was I think it was the Marionette one. Though from what I remember it had to do with kanade wanting to try to understand or save mafuyu though this probably could be from a completely different Nightcord event
in my opinion, saki should have been the protagonist for leo/need. it makes literally no sense for ichika to be the protagonist when saki's whole thing could be figuring out what happened between the friends
There was an official interview where colorful palette confirmed that Leo/need’s main story has two protagonists and it’s Ichika and Saki, same case for MMJ with Minori and Haruka
Yeah and for vbs it’s An telling the story and I know that Kohane does have a role, but personally I think An should be the protagonist, or at least both of them.

I think the human characters can get out of SEKAI without their phones, because in the 25ji main story, Empty Sekai's Miku basically boots out everyone out by Mafuyu's command
I think it have something to do with mafuyu being the one who made empty sekai. Since she's the owner of the feelings that made empty sekai, i think its possible to push everyone out of her command and ESPECIALLY her command
I think honami was a little bit suicidal due to she being bullied. The story did not mention bully directly, but before leo/need, she was isolated by her classmates. She has no friends apart from ichika and saki, and shiho isolating herself from others. They were probably in different classes and honami would not tell her problems directly to teammates. Not sure if it was bullying to be exact, but bad relationships probably at that time is the reason of being suicidal. (Personal opinion lol
Another one to add on "Saki Glue Theory" is that not just 1 Nightcord member to possibly die but 2 Remember how depressed Mafuyu is? If Kanade is dead because no one is there to save her physically, then Mafuyu is 100% dead, because she wants to dissapear herself, meaning she could possibly commit self inflicted death
While Mafuyu and Tsukasa both made Sekais from their feelings I think their backgrounds are also pretty different. Tsukasa’s parents aren’t shown as much but they seem to be a lot more caring for his feelings, he was moreso neglected out of unfortunate circumstance than intentionally, and it’s mentioned that his father gets carried away with buying him gifts; they obviously care about him a lot. He also does genuinely enjoy what he does and it’s not just a lie or act from him like it is for Mafuyu, as he genuinely loves making people happy. I think they’re parallels in the sense that at first Tsukasa was so obsessed with his own goals that he forgot his true passion (making others happy), while Mafuyu was so obsessed with pleasing others she forgot her own goals (which was also about helping others since she originally wanted to be a nurse). If Tsukasa does have hidden negative feelings, I think it would be more on a subconscious level rather than his personality being an act. While he’s happy performing, there are hints that he pushes down some of his negative thoughts because he doesn’t want to dwell on them or have them get in his way.
I think Tsukasa does genuinely love doing what he does; making people happy, but I think he is also wearing a mask that hides his negative feelings because he thinks that would take away from his goal of making people smile. He was already hinted at being a "pierrot" (within the lyrics of 88 stars and his newest trained card) which can also be called a clown/puppet, which symbolizes someone who masks their own feelings and opinions in order to make people laugh. He has already shown signs of this multiple times, in the following examples: (story spoilers) For one instance, in the Pop in my heart event storyline, he feels frustrated at himself after watching the incredible shows in the U.S, Kaito asks him if he is okay, which Tsukasa responds by just dismissing it and brushing it aside. Kaito then tells him that it's ok to take it one step at a time, which Tsukasa replies with "Nothing gets past you" (or something along those lines, can't remember perfectly). The next instance was in the Dazzling Light event storyline, when it dives into Tsukasa's backstory. Little Tsukasa wanted to learn to play a piano song really well, so he can teach Saki when she gets better and comes back home, but she had no sign of getting better any time soon, and on top of that his parents often left him alone to look after her (he was like 7 or something like jeez, i don't blame his parents but i feel like they could've done better). When these things happened, all he did was tell himself "I am a star so I am fine!" His situation probably isn't as severe as what a lot of Tsukasa angst theories suggest (although i myself eat those right up), but it's still a big problem in his life nonetheless.
The Saki glue theory is absolutely fucking terrifying. Imagine if one persons dies, then the all the others would have never been bought together all because of saki never recovering 😨 Edit: hehe 88 likes.( if you know you know)

Here’s my favorite: there’s a low probability glitch in the gameplay if your game is interrupted by an external occurrence on your device right before the game loads the song and music video, such as a phone call or if you opened control center. If this external occurrence happens, when you go back to the game, the music video will load and start playing, but the actual gameplay does not proceed. No notes will appear, and no audio plays. This glitch prevails until you exit the gameplay to the menu. The same can happen to the music in the menu, as well, where the problem is fixed when you exit the application. This glitch is kind of hard to replicate, but I only know this because I’ve been called so many times when I’m about to play a round or I’ve opened control center to record my gameplay. I have proof of this happening and I may even upload it to this site. It kind of makes it creepy.

Tsukasa parent's aren't bad parents like most of you think they love him as much as they love saki the only bad thing they does is leaving him alone in the house when he was child to take care of saki in the hospital
It's like with Mrs. Shinonome, people think she's a bad mother for being nonexistent in her children's lives but she also lets them do what they want in life and worry that they're putting too much responsibility on themselves. The Shinonome siblings being rather closed off individuals with communication issues (Akito and Ena have repeatedly shown that they'll rather deal with everything on their own and people had to force their way in to help them) also prevents her from knowing anything about their problems so how could she help them?
its actually canon kanade gets money from her grandma so its not unknown also, in bitter choco decoration they didnt censor nor change it, the instrumental is just quieter bc of how they mixed it so its nearly inaudible
Saki glue theory , is kinda now reminding me of Chiaki's death from danganronpa. What i remember, a charecter named Chiaki had her beloved classmates, for them she's considered as "hope", but the antagonist killed her, and brought all her classmates to despair, So as a metaphor, if Saki died, everyone will be brought to "despair". Which is imo , kinda messed up if u think about it

I'm hoping that the thing about Luka in the abandoned sekai might possibly feed into new some new groups or one new group being formed for the 3rd anniversary (as it was stated before that the 3rd anniversary will have everyone go up a year). I at least might just be very hopeful about this though, as I feel like we are in the need of an additional group. Maybe this new group could be a new school like what Bandori did for Morfonica, or be a mixed group of people situation, or maybe even college students or adults (especially adults if we think about that one abandoned dream being one that an adult abandoned, but could rekindle). I just want a new group that is hopefully all male.
MMJ story hits off with Minori being at the edge of giving up, Haruka a traumatized mess so hurt by her past experiences that she can't even stand near a stage and is haunted by various depictions of idol stuff, Airi became incredibly disillusioned with the industry as well as lost hope in her own capacity to do more than radioshows, and Shizuku dragging the baggage of people always treating her as some naturally gifted beauty who gwts by on her looks despite her working twice as hard as anyone else. MMJ can be pretty dark too.
Yea vivid bad squad only really has toya with the depressing backstory. I mean, their whole thing is to pass RAD weekend, but it’s not for some depressing reason.

The point is not that exactly Honami became housekeeper but that at the moment when Kanade collapsed Honami was close to the door and heard it, if she wasn't there who knows how much time Kanade would be lying there unconscoius, while Honami that would come to try to start working would probably think that Kanade doesn't want to see her or that she is asleep or went out. She would probably realise that something is off after few days but it would be too late, Kanade would already be dead bc of lack of food and dehydration, she fainted bc of that after all in the first place.
Someone pointed out that Tsukasa's Sekai is very cluttered, which alludes to him finding various distractions from his feelings-- Mafuyu's Sekai is empty however.
With all the recent events there’s also lore about akito with suicidal thoughts ( heavily shown in kashika ) and from all of his focus event song’s they all have dark meanings to it

Definitely, MMJ wouldn't be affected because tbh the only member of it that knew Saki before the game is Shizuku, and while Shizuku is a gentle soul who'll grieve for Saki, I don't think it will affect things that much on their end. And literally no one in Niigo even knows Saki, if Honami does get affected by Saki's death enough that she doesn't get a part-time job as a housekeeper, then Kanade's Grandmother will probably hire a different housekeeper, it's not a no-sum game there. WxS could even exist but instead of Tsukasa doing it because of a forgotten desire to make people happy, he might do it because he knows Saki will want him to make people happy even after she's gone.
the gimme gimme cover was never apart of the game! VBS Archive is a program where the members of VBS cover songs they hadn't in the game and is completely separate from the game. They also covered songs like Dramaturgy and Junky Night Town Orchestra. Still Gimme Gimme was a very inappropriate song for them to cover and wasn't very good imo, mostly because of bad mixing.
the mixing was rlly awful for that cover but even if they would've released it in game i'm sure they would've received backlash not only because of that, but gimme x gimme is about a girl cheating on her boyfriend for another girl and yk... akian aren't really fitting the lyrics...

wanted to add to tsukasa discourse. un the event "never give up cooking!" tenma's throw a white day family tea party, toya is invited. siblings make their preparations (room, decoration, tea/coffee, etc) and toya makes cupcakes for the tenmas and vbs, since he's at it. rui ends up helping both toya and tsukasa. with toya, he helps him to even think about making cupcakes, how they should be, encouraged toya, when his first try wasn't good enough to even look at (the first time we see rui with "blued" face btw) and so on, being supportive director he is. with tsukasa tho, situation is a little different. tsukasa wants to throw a little play for saki and toya, because it's what he's always been doing for them to make them feel better, and when he's out of ideas he asks rui's opinion, and rui says "tsukasa, i'm sure saki and toya love you because you're their family, not because you're an actor. let yourself be yourself at least with them for once", and tsukasa is genuinely surprised by this revelation. yet, he still thanks rui a lot and tries to just enjoy himself on the gathering

I wouldn't go as far as to say his parents treated him similarly as Mafuyu's parents do considering Mafuyu's mum is, without question, abusive. Meanwhile, Tsukasa's parents *couldn't* be there for him because Saki was ill in hospital.
Mafuyu has unwillingly become a puppet for her mother, meanwhile Tsukasa *chose* to be a puppet for other people because he *wants* to make other people happy. Tsukasa is willingly being what others want and expect of him, with no regard for himself whatsoever. Tsukasa's priorities are always other people, and whenever he does something to upset someone he beats himself up about it (calling himself useless etc). He is a people-pleaser to such an extreme degree, you can't look at all this and then say he's perfectly fine. And people are a sucker for the happy outgoing people secretly not being very okay, so ofc Tsukasa fans (such as myself) won't shut up about it lmao

Kanade's funds could be mostly coming from her dad's savings and her grandmother. In the story, it's stated that the grandmother can't live/take care of Kanade because she's in the hospital most of the time. She also sends Kanade care packages of food occasionally so it's safe to assume that her grandma is the one who takes care of the bills/sets up automatic rent payments so Kanade doesn't have to worry. Due to Kanade's mom passing away and Kanade's dad becoming ill, I think her grandma became super protective of Kanade.

I think honami was a little bit suicidal due to she being bullied.
The story did not mention bully directly, but before leo/need, she was isolated by her classmates. She has no friends apart from ichika and saki, and shiho isolating herself from others. They were probably in different classes and honami would not tell her problems directly to teammates.
Not sure if it was bullying to be exact, but bad relationships probably at that time is the reason of being suicidal.

While Mafuyu and Tsukasa both made Sekais from their feelings I think their backgrounds are also pretty different.
Tsukasa’s parents aren’t shown as much but they seem to be a lot more caring for his feelings, he was moreso neglected out of unfortunate circumstance than intentionally, and it’s mentioned that his father gets carried away with buying him gifts; they obviously care about him a lot.
He also does genuinely enjoy what he does and it’s not just a lie or act from him like it is for Mafuyu, as he genuinely loves making people happy. I think they’re parallels in the sense that at first Tsukasa was so obsessed with his own goals that he forgot his true passion (making others happy), while Mafuyu was so obsessed with pleasing others she forgot her own goals (which was also about helping others since she originally wanted to be a nurse).
If Tsukasa does have hidden negative feelings, I think it would be more on a subconscious level rather than his personality being an act. While he’s happy performing, there are hints that he pushes down some of his negative thoughts because he doesn’t want to dwell on them or have them get in his way.
I think Tsukasa does genuinely love doing what he does; making people happy, but I think he is also wearing a mask that hides his negative feelings because he thinks that would take away from his goal of making people smile. He was already hinted at being a "pierrot" (within the lyrics of 88 stars and his newest trained card) which can also be called a clown/puppet, which symbolizes someone who masks their own feelings and opinions in order to make people laugh. He has already shown signs of this multiple times, in the following examples:

For one instance, in the Pop in my heart event storyline, he feels frustrated at himself after watching the incredible shows in the U.S, Kaito asks him if he is okay, which Tsukasa responds by just dismissing it and brushing it aside. Kaito then tells him that it's ok to take it one step at a time, which Tsukasa replies with "Nothing gets past you" (or something along those lines, can't remember perfectly).
The next instance was in the Dazzling Light event storyline, when it dives into Tsukasa's backstory. Little Tsukasa wanted to learn to play a piano song really well, so he can teach Saki when she gets better and comes back home, but she had no sign of getting better any time soon, and on top of that his parents often left him alone to look after her (he was like 7 or something like jeez, i don't blame his parents but i feel like they could've done better). When these things happened, all he did was tell himself "I am a star so I am fine!"
His situation probably isn't as severe as what a lot of Tsukasa angst theories suggest (although i myself eat those right up), but it's still a big problem in his life nonetheless.

Here’s my favorite: there’s a low probability glitch in the gameplay if your game is interrupted by an external occurrence on your device right before the game loads the song and music video, such as a phone call or if you opened control center. If this external occurrence happens, when you go back to the game, the music video will load and start playing, but the actual gameplay does not proceed. No notes will appear, and no audio plays. This glitch prevails until you exit the gameplay to the menu. The same can happen to the music in the menu, as well, where the problem is fixed when you exit the application.
This glitch is kind of hard to replicate, but I only know this because I’ve been called so many times when I’m about to play a round or I’ve opened control center to record my gameplay. I have proof of this happening and I may even upload it to this site.
It kind of makes it creepy.

The Shinonome siblings being rather closed off individuals with communication issues (Akito and Ena have repeatedly shown that they'll rather deal with everything on their own and people had to force their way in to help them) also prevents her from knowing anything about their problems so how could she help them?

I'm hoping that the thing about Luka in the abandoned sekai might possibly feed into new some new groups or one new group being formed for the 3rd anniversary (as it was stated before that the 3rd anniversary will have everyone go up a year). I at least might just be very hopeful about this though, as I feel like we are in the need of an additional group. Maybe this new group could be a new school like what Bandori did for Morfonica, or be a mixed group of people situation, or maybe even college students or adults (especially adults if we think about that one abandoned dream being one that an adult abandoned, but could rekindle). I just want a new group that is hopefully all male.
So far, the only group that I think of without a super depressing backstory is vivid bad squad, or at least it’s the least depressing one.

MMJ story hits off with Minori being at the edge of giving up, Haruka a traumatized mess so hurt by her past experiences that she can't even stand near a stage and is haunted by various depictions of idol stuff, Airi became incredibly disillusioned with the industry as well as lost hope in her own capacity to do more than radioshows, and Shizuku dragging the baggage of people always treating her as some naturally gifted beauty who gwts by on her looks despite her working twice as hard as anyone else.
MMJ can be pretty dark too.

The point is not that exactly Honami became housekeeper but that at the moment when Kanade collapsed Honami was close to the door and heard it, if she wasn't there who knows how much time Kanade would be lying there unconscoius, while Honami that would come to try to start working would probably think that Kanade doesn't want to see her or that she is asleep or went out. She would probably realise that something is off after few days but it would be too late, Kanade would already be dead bc of lack of food and dehydration, she fainted bc of that after all in the first place.
Someone pointed out that Tsukasa's Sekai is very cluttered, which alludes to him finding various distractions from his feelings-- Mafuyu's Sekai is empty however.
With all the recent events there’s also lore about akito with suicidal thoughts ( heavily shown in kashika ) and from all of his focus event song’s they all have dark meanings to it

Definitely, MMJ wouldn't be affected because tbh the only member of it that knew Saki before the game is Shizuku, and while Shizuku is a gentle soul who'll grieve for Saki, I don't think it will affect things that much on their end.
And literally no one in Niigo even knows Saki, if Honami does get affected by Saki's death enough that she doesn't get a part-time job as a housekeeper, then Kanade's Grandmother will probably hire a different housekeeper, it's not a no-sum game there.
WxS could even exist but instead of Tsukasa doing it because of a forgotten desire to make people happy, he might do it because he knows Saki will want him to make people happy even after she's gone.
