I just stumbled on this! I was lucky enough to have met Sam & Duncan (Murtagh) in Melbourne earlier this year during the Outlander convention we had. Duncan actually mentioned that that scene with Jamie was one of his favourites. It's a beautiful scene when there's no English- even though we don't know what they're talking about (it was done from Claire's perspective ie non-Gaelic speaker) Duncan's body language said absolutely EVERYTHING we needed to know. Sam of course is just a human angel as we all know :) :) - I went in costume as Claire- he saw me and called me 'Sassenach' so I called him 'Foxcub' back (Gellis Duncan's pet name for Jamie) lol

Episodes 15 and 16 are the ones I watch the most from season one because they are the most amazing in terms of acting. Sam and Tobias are incredible to watch. Yes, the scenes are horrific to watch, but they have to be and for me it's all about how the actors crafted all that with the director. Most of what happened in these scenes weren't in the books so in collaboration, Sam and Tobias put all that together. So for me it's all about the acting and that acting is amazing.
@@diannebdee you are right sam and tobias do a wonderful job but, watching someone playing with someone's mind really bothered me.

Diana Gabaldon (the writer) explained that Black Jack was not gay, he was simply a sadistic person who enjoyed torturing people.
And yes, Sam Heughan (Jamie) had a really hard time and needed a break after filming those scenes
Diana doesn't even know what gay means, There's a reason that Flapjack can only get it up for men.
