I remember sitting in Andreas Lindemann's Proseminar and he spoke about John most probably not knowing the synoptics and then referring to when Jesus carried His cross and in John it's something like "He carried his cross for himself" (I have no bible at hand to look up the exact words), remarking that this sounds a lot like John wants to make clear here that no Simon of Cyrene helped Jesus with the burden...
If synoptic means “same eye” then there are zero synoptic Gospels. Different eyes can see the same events. It’s how they interpret the events that makes them “same eye”. And none of them seem to consistently interpret the same events the same. Edit (Not that I didn’t learn a lot from Goodacre, as always）
