- She's become well-known in the world of horse racing due to her unique looks, but the pure white thoroughbred SODASHI is a real force on the track, too!
With three G1 victories to her name, she's made a name for herself on the turf.
Her latest victory came in the G1 Victoria Mile at Tokyo Racecourse.

Who is the most beautiful horse you remember seeing race?
That's Easy it was Secretariat. But this white horse is absolutely beautiful
Sunday Silence. Sodashi would be up there with Ruffian. My top 3.
I have a horse called Moroccan Queen who is a Gorgeous horse as well. But I could be a little prejudice
Vigors like Sodashi. The whites are magic.
Northern Dancer!
Oh wow. When she flipped to the final left lead at the end she exploded. What try and heart she has. You can see she truly loves to run. This mare will go down in history for sure and not just for her color.
Sodashi is from sanskrit and means pure, shine. It fits her well. She is sincere but friendly.
Shodashi also means , *White Lightning* another name for Lord Brahma considered the creator of our Universe in Sanskrit.
@@ahirbhairavorai7793 As i remeber the "white lightning" was name for Tamamo cross tho btw:)) (Tamamo was japanese horse like Sodashi)
There was an Australian horse called "Lightning", also known as Phar Lap ❤⚡ like him this one is a rare beauty
What a beautiful white horse she runs like the wind. 💛🌈
This mare has the turn of foot that all the great mares have! Hoping she makes it to Keenland! The Japanese are amazing horsemen.
Japanese really? Not so for Kentucky Derby, Breeder's Cup & 1987 Horse of the Year winner Ferdinand!
@@seentheah3562 That was a long time ago. The Japanese lost a lot of face over Ferdinand's death. They have gotten better since then. They know people are watching. They now work to return retired studs back to their home countries if that is what everyone wants, or pension them if they are to stay in Japan. I have met some of these horses. War Emblem was a case in point. He was a fine sire, when he could be coaxed into breeding. The Japanese were very patient with him and tried all sorts of things, including pasture breeding. Nothing worked, so he was returned to the U.S. at considerable expense, partly offset by the JRA. War Emblem ended his days at Old Friends in Georgetown KY. I believe that some of Silver Charm's old grooms from his stay in Japan have come to visit "Shiro."
@@LauraJdogmom Thank goodness, these animals deserve to be given a comfortable retirement.
What a beautiful looking horse
Excited to watch this girl run in the Breeders Cup. Never seen anything like her before
The white TBs don’t seem to be as good but this one is probably the best white Thoroughbred I’ve seen race. I wish her well in her career.
@@penelopelopez8296 Gorgeous, isn't she?
It's all about her breeding. Most of the white TBs have been bred as much for their color as for anything else. They did not originally come from top racing lines. Sodashi is different. She comes from a family of good race horses, and she was bred to race. Her white color comes from a spontaneous Dominant White mutation that appeared in her second dam (maternal granddam for those who don't know what that is). Shirayukihime was born to the well-bred but unraced mare Wave Wind, and was by the great Sunday Silence. Sodashi's dam Buchiko (King Kamehameha X Shirayukihime) was bred to be a race horse. She was a stakes winner, although not in a group stakes. Sodashi's sire Kurofune was a multiple Group stakes winner and proved to be a good sire.
There are other good race horses in the family as well. Shirayukihime's daughter Yukichan won the Kanto Oaks (then G2Jpn, now considered the equivalent of international Listed). Her son Shironii was a very good dirt horse and now stands at stud.. Her daughter Marshmallow is the dam of Hayayakko, the first white horse to win an internationally recognized G3 (Leopard Stakes, 1800M on dirt).
Sodashi is defitely the best so far, and was both Champion 2-year-old filly and Champion 3-year-old filly in Japan.
Her owners have never said that she's running in the breeders cup
Hmmm, I thought I saw somewhere that she was going to be running in the Breeders Cup. Perhaps I was wrong
@@alysewilliams3344 she earned a free entry into the breeders cup filly & mare turf by winning the victoria mile, but her connections haven't confirmed whether she's going or not. It would be great to see her there, but its a long journey.

I watched this race directly. Please listen carefully, when Sodashi overtakes Resistencia, the cheers grow louder at once. I felt it on my skin.
And an uncle who I don't know cried and shouted, "Sodashiiiiiiiiiiii!!",Right behind me.
The three legendary queens "Gran Alegria","Loves Only You","Chrono Genesis" have retired, and this race has brought together some very gorgeous members to become new queens.
How ABSOLUTELY GORGOUS and Love the Name !!!
beautiful horse
No problem following her in a field of horses, she is absolutely stunning!!!
They were literally flying in the air, magnificent to watch ❤️❤️❤️
Sodashi you are still the best shining star in the whole universe! I just love you so much! Watching you is pure breathtakingly beautiful!
Has a great will to win, just keeps finding another gear and races past the leader with it's ears pricked. Quite remarkable.
White angels
Beautiful white horse
Sodashi for Japan Cup, Derby and Arima Kinen!! Go beautiful girl!
Beautiful.
Beautiful run. 😍 beautiful horse
She is a beautiful creature & knows how to finish strong.
Sodashi has a unique stride, specially with the front legs. At least it appears that way as she is urged strongly towards the finish line.
Switching leads like that at the time of a race successfully us really rare.
@@marjoriecoey3418 Perhaps it was the switching of leads. I am not an expert by any means. Dabbled with racehorse ownership years ago but stopped when nearby Calder Racetrack stopped racing and became a casino. Sodashi has a long extension of the front legs but with her knees straight and both hooves striking and leaving the track almost at the same time. Again, not an expert and not criticizing. An absolute beautiful horse.
What a Magnificient Horse and What a Brilliant Riding. Hats Off to Both.. (V.M. Sridhara)
What a turn of foot!
What a Magnificent Horse! 🤩
Great White👌 Perfection 💞
I have a good feeling about her Future 😊
Beautifully moving horse
And the crowd roars....Yay!
She gallops as if like a god amongst mortals white and pristine. God bless this beautiful horse
Sodashi will run in tomorrow's mile championship
I'm looking for the Sodashi anime. If there isn't one out yet, there will be.
Stunningly beautiful horse, and exciting win.
Meaning of Sadashi; ambitious one
I am the sadoshi
She Is so Beautiful! Heart of a Champion!!
What a unbelievable horse Sodashi
Beautiful
Fantastic!
What a vision!
Triple crown winner Daring Tact in the race inched up after 200 but she couldn't muster her strength at all having muscle reduced and only trained for this race after her rest due to injury.
I hope she comes back to the front.
Wow!!! What a beautiful horse!!!!
Sodashi links directly back to The Irish thoroughbred racehorse The Tetrarch who was known in England as the spotted wonder for obvious reasons. Although sodashi shows no obvious signs of any spotted ancestry many of her relatives do including Buchiko, Marblecake, Butchini, Mumtaz Mahal, Mumtaz Begum, Pantaloon and Thormanby.
Mumtaz Mahal' s line has direct links to some of the most prolific racehorses in history to name a few, Shergar, Frankel, Red Rum, Tiger Roll, Secretariat, Galilao, Mill Reef, Njinsky, Sadlers Wells and Northern Dancer. It is interesting to note that Shergar had all three requirements to be registered as an Appaloosa (spots are not a registration requirement) He showed white sclera, striped hooves and parti coloured skin. All the above horses are indeed thoroughbreds....but........many of them show more than a little Appaloosa heritage.
Looks like flying snow ❄
Beautiful horse im a fan
My favorite
The white beauty....
マジでかっこいい!!
She’s a bold gal
Beautiful horse !! Still my favorite is Secretariat ❤️
Love Secretariat but Seattle Slew is probably my favorite of all time. All those race horses of the 1970s and early 1980s were amazing. Forego was another one I loved to watch race….he was amazing all of the weight he carried.
Penelope, I love them all ! Still almost 50 years later..no horse has beat Secretariat's record
Mine is Ruffian, my Friends owed Foolish Pleasure, win when she broke down and died in that match race, he was The Kentucky Derby winner, she was ahead until she broke her leg.😥
Me too
white wonder!!
純白の奇跡!!
No whip involved I love sodashi
Beautiful Horse !!!.
Corre como una nube Blanca un campeon💫✨
The flying white swan honey
SODASHIII
It was Secretariat But this white horse is absolutely beautiful
Unsual colour and she is so powerful
I wonder what the distance was here? I’m trying to gauge how good she is. I figured this was Japan…they have those bloodlines for the white thoroughbreds. I would love to study those bloodlines……pure white TBs are rare and this one seems to be pretty good. I wish her well.
We have a mare in NZ called The Opera House who has bred a number of white foals of which some were sold to Japan. Look her up, she's georgous.
The distance was 1600.
@@juliaforsyth8332 there’s no pics of him
The race in the video was the Victoria Mile at Tokyo Race Course. It is 1600 meters on the turf, and is a G1 race for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and up. (This race was won by Almond Eye two years ago.) Sodashi is not just good, she is a dual champion, having been named the JRA 2-year-old champion filly for 2020 and the 3-year-old champion filly for 2021.
As for her bloodlines, she has a solid racing pedigree. Her sire is the successful stallion Kurofune. His sire is French Deputy. Her dam, stakes winner Buchiko, is a daughter of major Japanese sire King Kamehameha (Kingmambo-Manfath, by Last Tycoon). Buchiko's dam is Shirayukihime (foaled1996), in whom the Dominant White color appeared as a spontaneous mutation. Shirayukihime's sire is the mighty Sunday Silence (Halo-Wishing Well, by Undertanding), and her dam is Wave Wind (Topsider-Storm and Sunshine, by Star de Naskra). Sodashi has Northern Dancer top and bottom, and Mr. Prospector on her dam's side. So she is very well bred. Her color is just a bonus. There are several other good horses in the immediate family as well.
THAT'S a REAL GEM! 😍😍💍💍💍💍💍💍💍💍
I HAVE ALL WHITE HORSES. LOVE TO BUY HER!
Brilliant !!!.
Did they clip her wings? Jockey played it perfectly and Sodashi kicked in the nitro.
外人もソダシ大好きなんやな!
WHITE LIGHTNING,,,, FOR SURE !!
Beautiful white horse. Does she only compete against other mares or does she also win against stallions?
She won against stallions too.
Sodashi will run in tomorrow's mile championship
Awesome 👍 well riden 🏇
Sodashi reminds me of Nahab, she runs exactly like him, except Nahab comes from the back. I expect Sodashi to get at least two G1s, she won with a single whip, which is insane. Not even her full potential, and she isn't even tired.
Am from turkey l love you SODASHİ
Love it
😲 WOW...☺️💕
Is there any chance she might run in any of the American horse races? Is she in any way related to some of our greats, such as Secretariat or Seattle Slew?
She's the great-great-great granddaughter of Bold Ruler, Secretariats sire. And her grandmother is sired by the legendary Sunday Silence.
Lovely horse plenty left in the tank
There is an old Sanskrit saying.
"Acharya shiskitha chatra

A son disciplined by a father
A horse whipped by the master

Wow she hesitates spilt seco
Short of an albino, I've never before seen a horse born white ! Technically, non albino 'white horses' are called 'greys' - just a very 'light grey' !! Horses that end up 'white' - like this filly is already ! - are often born very dark, then slowly dapple out to grey, and usually will slowly turn 'white' at a very advanced age. So for this horse to be born white IS truly unusual ! I wonder what the chances are of her throwing a white foal when it comes time to breed her ?
There's no such thing as an albino horse. This horse is dominant white, also called white spotting (W), a family of spontaneous mutations of the KIT gene which can make horses appear white or with sabino-like patterns. Dominant white horses have a 50% chance of giving it to their offspring.
Unicorn 🦄
They should have name her white angel
which one is Sodashi? i can't see him in the run
Is she coming to the uk what would be her grade to our milers

Time to bring her West to the Kentucky Derby & Belmont stakes...
How?
@@oceanwhisperer why cant it be done
@@forward_ever_ever2595 Because she isn't (and never was) eligible to run in them.
@@sethrivers5303 oh ok
@@forward_ever_ever2595 Also, Sodashi's connections have no incentive to switch surfaces when she's already winning top-level stakes races on turf. (And that's without shipping her halfway around the world to do it. Even the Japanese colts who've qualified for the Derby often aren't entered because of the travel issue.)

That horse is too pretty to race!
Don't see white horses or paints usually, needs to keep changing, I'm sure they can be bred

Is sodashi a mare or stallion?
Mare
@@wolfarmy602 she should make an excellent brood mare ...I'm thinking keen ice or arrogate for her first stud duty ...what say you ?

@@wolfarmy602 In fact, the race Victoria Mile is for mares. This means all other horses in that race also are mares

Very, very rarely, a horse can be born fully leucistic without suffering from lethal white syndrome. Leucism, which is dominant in most of its forms, is a mutation of multiple genes. Some of those genes are also associated with hearing, resulting in deaf animals. Some, like LWS, are associated with an underdeveloped colon. Some, like the human form (also dominant), can be associated with both. And some, like Sodashi's, are just...leucistic. She's not an albino, and she's not a light gray mare. She's a leuci. I hope to see this filly come to America.
She doesn’t have to come to America. If she’s doing great where she is then she doesn’t have to do anything more. She can make plenty of money where she’s racing now. The breeders cup is not what it used to be. The only good thing would be the large purse money but she doesn’t need to travel to another continent to prove anything.
@@penelopelopez8296 I know it's ultimately up to her connections, but I also know a lot of Americans would love to watch her run.
@@AtarahDerek i
Dominant White.
Thanks, knew some of that but not nearly all. I wonder if there's any Secretariat semen left? Would be an interesting breed but does a leuci breed true?
👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️👋👋👋👋👋👋
Hi Ho Silver!!
Maki bao is that you
Bring Sodashi to the home of Horse Racing and give it a real test
If you're talking about America then that is not the home of horse racing lmao, more like the shithouse of horse racing.
horses that are shipped halfway around the world usually never regain their strength, not just them, also North American horses going East..
I hope all these wins are enough to keep her out of an Alpo can...
Let’s hope so.
They will breed her.
You're kidding, right? She is a multiple grades stakes winner and twice a champion in Japan. She will go on to have a successful career as a broodmare. When she is an old lady, she will be pensioned.
@@LauraJdogmom She can come live with me anytime...I'd buy a Lone Ranger costume for me and a silver saddle for her, parades in town would be fun..
@@haroldwilkes6608 There have been a few white TBs that have had movie careers, including in The Lone Ranger. A couple of Canadian TBs, Cloud Ten and White Pharaoh, played Silver in the 2013 Johnny Depp movie (along with some other white horses). A silver parade saddle would be spectacular on such a horse.
However, I have no doubt that Sodashi will get all her parades on the track, before she retires to make beautiful babies.
