Gorgeously understated~~~~~~~~~the Jimmy Z and Angie duet...l remember the video of them meeting for the first time. She sang Etta James' At Last, for him. Happy Hanukkah.
Her saxophonist with this one is no other than the legendary Jimmy Z. One of the best if not the best. And yes, this one feels different... I would say her vocal here compliments the sax beautifully. And i really love the back and forth of her vocal and the sax.. its like she's having a duet with Jimmy Z.
Angelina Jordan the best vocalist in the world, unique and unmatched duetting with the legendary and virtuoso saxophonist Jimmy Z Zavala played for: Etta James, Rod Stewart, Eurythmics and Jaguares (famous Mexican rock band), the legendary blues diva Etta James called to Jimmy Z his "Hootchie Cootchie Man" and Dave Stewart of Eurythmics calls him. "the best harmonica player in the world, excellent duet
No mistaking those 'breathy', whisper like' releases she learned from Billie Holiday. They just add so much depth to her 'rasp' and 'silky' delivery, all of which makes this my favorite Christmas song, for sure.
The sax player is the famous Jimmy Z... her musicians on this are absolutely top-notch: they've played with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Ella Fitzgerald, Rod Stewart... yet they were still in awe of Angelina when they played with her... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Zavala
Wow thank you for that information and i know Angelina loves to be around real musicians. The elite musicians... Merry Christmas to you and your family.. much appreciated
@@musicandvocals143 and they love to be around her ! :) One of the musicians when this recorded said something like "She's the greatest story-telling singer since Frank Sinatra...."
I hope her 2024 Tour in Europe she will sing her new music and include any Rap Bars. This song, it’s like Angelina is whispering to us. This a great Driving Song. Any occasion while driving home. Even driving home from work.
I imagine Mr. Chris Rea listening to this song (he is still alive), smiling "You got this lass, you get the blues." British Blues musician. For the Sax, ask your uncle who Jimmy Z is. He layes here Say and harmonica.
Great reaction! I do believe that this one is a new recording. It definitely wasn't part of the 2021 Christmas concert 🙂 And I also think I can hear it in her voice that she was a bit older here. I have never heard her THIS consistently smooth and airy. Sure, we've heard elements of this from way back, at least from when she was 11/12, but not in this manner. I totally love it tbh. Much love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
Yeah many people also told me that it could be a new recording coz it was different.. again as I've said either way i love just to listen to her.. thank you and merry Christmas brother...
Shark, I am pretty sure, when I look at who is playing for her (musicians) and the producers, that this is NEW. This guys from her 2021 Chrismas show are here again, but also Victoria Fatu is in it, I don´t think she was in 2021. But first and formost, as you, I hear her new sound, totaly different from 2021, I just saw the show on YT. Love from South Germany
That's also a good point and i appreciate your honesty.. music still depends on the one that's listening.. some might like it and some might find it safe.. maybe because we have a very high standard for Angelina coz we know how good she is.. i mean the EP is all about Christmas and that's celebrating LOVE... Celebrating God.. may the spirit of Christmas be with you and me.. maybe they just wanted to enjoy playing and sharing ideas while recording it just to be happy while singing.. i appreciate your point of view.. again Merry Christmas
The best interpretation of this cover. Better than the original IMHO. Perfect soft silk breathy tone and sax. She's a genius all her arrangement. No coercion. Amazing voice , she knows how to put her own spin on this one. Best Christmas song this year.
Her breathy tone reminds me of crispy snow.. so smooth and silky! 😊
I totally agree! And you can hear Christmas on her voice..

I couldn't agree more... Only the music minded people would appreciate the lvl of musicality they brought for this song... Amazing

Another one of Angeiina's 1,000 voices :)

Angelina on vocals..Rob Cristy on piano and Jimmy Z on sax.......AWESOME
Only music minded people would appreciate what they deed magical on this song..
YES exactly, soft and breathy, but with a powerful voice, you can FEEL underneath. Have a peaceful time, you and yours. German Greetings.
Her passion for music is so powerful
This one just keeps resonating in my head . A.J the Christmas muse for this time. Merry Christmas to you in your piece of tropical paradise.

Wow that's another legend with Angelina.. thank you
Love the chooks and roosters serenading Angelina.
Beautiful setting.
You are right. Not a fan of Xmas songs but this is sumptuous by AJ.
Haha nature 😀

Yeah she likes to surround herself with excellent musicians! On the other songs from the EP, the band had a total of about two dozen Grammy's.
@@pietersbart and the fact that they are happy to do the surrounding is a testament to her brilliance ! :)

No creo.

Not much of a White Christmas in your part of the world..😂
We have 50cm snow..😊
Hahaha we still make decorations like snow.. :) Merry Christmas brother..

Her smokey contralto is the sound of a great tequila being strained through a silk stocking
On point.. i totally agree 💯
Driving Home For Christmas
Angelina Jordan's album "Driving Home For Christmas" is a mixed bag for me. The first track, which shares the name of the album, is a decent song, but it lacks the originality and flair that Angelina usually brings to her covers. (Driving Home for Christmas" is a Christmas song written and composed by British singer-songwriter Chris Rea) AJ has a knack for transforming any cover into a work of art, but this one feels too conventional and safe, I wonder how much latitude she had with this track. The rest of the tracks are live recordings from her Christmas concert on Dec 23, 2021, at the old age of 15, and they are masterpieces. Angelina showcases her incredible voice and style in these songs, and they are a joy to listen to. © Larry D. Pifer
Rose Mary Clooney hated “Come On-a My House”
She had to sing "Come On-a My House" for a long time, but Clooney admitted that she despised the song. She explained that Miller had given her a demo record of it and she had rejected it as unsuitable for her. Miller threatened to fire her if she did not record the song. Clooney recalled in a 1988 interview that her voice in the recording revealed her anger at being coerced to sing it.
A major hit for Clooney in 1951, it was the first of a number of dialect songs she did. She recorded it in the early part of 1951, with Mitch Miller leading an ensemble of four musicians, including harpsichordist Stan Freeman. It reached number one on the Billboard charts, staying in the top position for six weeks. (Will the same thing happen with "Driving Home For Christmas"?)
