As an Afghan who has lived in Afghanistan and knows the ground realities and the problems that US and Afghan govt were facing, I can clearly state that for some reason the panel has not even touched the ground to outline the real issues except the last few minutes. I was expecting a little more realistic discussion here.
Unfortunately this debates looks like USA didn’t care about Afghanistan future as partner. The fact is that when 9/11 happened we Afghan people offered our help by fighting international terrorist organizations but we never thought USA and Allie’s will leave Afghanistan in horrible situations. Taliban did not win but surely corruption paved the way for Taliban to control Afghanistan again. Whatever happened with idea of either USA want it to conquer Afghanistan or not is not question but from Afghan points of view eventually USA lead coalition forces failed to state building in Afghanistan. I remember when Taliban got defeated and new government came I was in high school with a hope of new Afghanistan and state building unfortunately it was greatly failed by USA. Now from Afghanistan points of view Afghanistan occupied by Pakistani so it’s not the end of war slowly but sure civil war will start again. But all this could prevented by our international community which they didn’t help Afghanistan.
Go Mearsheimer!

Patent nonsense. Occupation collaborators, corrupt officials and mercenaries fled when the US left. They had no roots in society.
