There are two angles on a correctly sharpened chisel. Grinding angle and honing or sharpening angle. This video is showing how to sharpen a chisel incorrectly.

Didn't know carpenters were putting a secondary bevel on chisels.
I now stand informed. Thank you.

Or spend a couple of quid on a honing guide. Even a cheap one will give better results for all your chisels

Should have shown a leather strap and polish as well. Especially handy for keeping the edge when ik use. Use it after every few minutes.

There's a reason they call that plate on a grinding wheel a tool rest that's adjustable you need to go out and buy one and read the directions it also comes with a water area to make the wheel wet for grinding tools for lays chisels Etc you're trying to reinvent the wheel

So much work to make a honing guide that you can buy for a couple of quid.... 😢. Imagine this guy's toolbox, full of amateur inventions like a video diskwithwet n dry glued to it and put in an angle grinder .. would you hire him as acarpenter looking at his tools,?

What rubbish, use a sharpening guide, you would have to move the screws for different chisels, and where is the second angle? You have invented nothing.

Building the jig is some extra work, you're right. But once it's built, sharpening chisels will be a breeze. You will eventually save way more time than it took to build it.

The cutting face will be concave, from the shape of your grinding wheel, after you've put it on the grinder, when you sharpen it on your oil stone, less than 8mm
of your cutting edge will contact the stone.
When you think it's sharp enough, you now must remove the burr, you place your chisel flat on the face of the stone, an stroke full length of the stone, at least 12 times, it's crucial the blade stays dead flat to the face of the stone, what your doing is removing the burr, you'll always get burr on the cutting edge when you sharpening chisels ,this is how you remove it...
Your chisel is now at its sharpest..
I'm kidding, you can stropp that chisel sames a cutthroat razor, now it's razor sharp you can shave with it ..

That is a good way for some. Appreciate. Since my situation doesn’t include a shop, I use items I always have, with multiple uses - a sanding sponge and strop on my leather belt. Razor sharp 🫵👍
