- Hello guys my name is Ben and this is bad bikes and today we are going to be learning how to fix a compressed brake Caliper. This is only for hydraulic brakes not mechanical. If your brakes are mechanical then you need to go find a different video. This is one of the easiest things you can fix on your bike. You don't need any specialty tools and if you watch this video you'll have all the know-how to do the job.
A compressed brake caliper can occur if you have ever squeezed your brake when your tire is out. You will recognize the compressed caliper by the fact that you won't be able to spin the wheel freely. This is because the brake pistons are rubbing against the brake disc constantly. You could ride your bike around like this but it would make riding a lot harder to do.
The first step is to remove some sort of pen or screw that is holding the pads in place. The next thing is to remove the brake pads. Now you are all set to push the pistons out. Just grab a hex or screw driver and push the pistons out. Super easy! The pistons will not move alot but you will be able to see them just slightly move out.
After you're done with that delicate prose, put back the brake pads and the pen or screw. Install your wheel and you're done. If your disc is still rubbing tan you probably need to re-align your break. I will save that for another video. Thanks for watching as always my name is Ben and this is bad bikes and I will see you in the next video.
God bless!

Yeah bro just fixed my brakes today.Youre vids are great straight to the point no trash talks just pure content , KEEP IT UP MAN !!!!!
hi, as a bike mechanic, i deal with this every day: first step take pin out which is holding the brake pads in place, second step open bleed screw on top of ur brake lever, put a piece of paper over the open hole on the brake lever, now make sure ur lever is higher than the piston and that the lever is horizontal. Then press back the pistons with the brake pads mounted, this will keep ur ceramic pistons from breaking and will press them very even. Now close the lever with the screw and o-ring sealing (no sealing on magura plastic screw- also u might have to flip the leaver 180 degrees to have the screw on top with magura) and wipe away any oil with isopropanol. If you need a little bit of extra clearance, you can carefull press back the pistons directly without brake pads afterwards, just make sure to use a plastic wheel leaver. In this process the leaver screw should be remove beforehand ofc.
thanks for the info - you have really crisp videos - what camera do you use?
