Try mixing your green stuff then setting it aside for an hour or so. It'll start to cure so it's easy to cut, but still be plenty soft enough to sculpt and bend. If you can find the sweet spot between malleable and cured then it's like you're working with an entirely different product.

Blue is the hardener. More blue, more rubber like. More yellow, more clay like. However, there is a point of too much of either one, and it won't cure.
I love watching what little twists you add to make them interesting. I think an interesting challenge would be the Carcharodons. Their colour scheme is just grey and white, so its a challenge to make them stand out.
They were lost in the warp and the remaining used the 13th banners to honour them and all the space wolves who fell in combat.. Then the returned from the warp and most were wulfen and had scavenged armour from the choas guys they had killed
My humble chapter request is the Sons of the Phoenix. They were created to be a different take on religious space Marines but accidentally look like an Emperor's children successor chapter. They don't have a tonne of lore, but I think they're really cool.
The 13th Great Company accompanied Russ into the Eye of Terror during the scouring. There were rules for them in Codex: Eye of Terror during 3rd Edition as they followed The Black Legion and Abaddon out of The Eye to fight against his forces during the (old) 13th Black Crusade, though I'm sure this has all been retconned now. This is where where Wulfen were introduced as a playable unit. SW only got more dumb from that point onwards. It should be noted though that a slightly earlier incarnation (Bill King's version from the 2E Codex and the Ragnar Blackmane novels) noted the 13th Great Company as being based on Fenris and containing all the Wolf Priest...or Iron Priests or something. I can't remember exactly. Also, in that version of the canon Russ left Fenris to find the Seed of the World Tree which he intended to use to heal The Emperor.
I love Space Wolves. I've always felt that Space Wolves are one of the few Space Marine chapters that have fun and they encourage individuality in each models design with the little charms, teeth, claws and fur :P
If you’ve got a spare chaos head, then an Exorcist chapter marine would be fun. Dark red, demon skull emblem, and their super secret ritual of having their recruits get possessed by a demon, exorcising that demon, and ending up with a chapter more resistant to chaos.
Not lore accurate atall, but I have an exorcist in my deathwatch made up from a spare grey kngiht torso and helmet due to them being similar. Think it could make a larger killteam or chapter with GK bits mixed in feel more unique (along with being a colour you don't really see GK in)
In an older codex the Space Wolves were described as a fantasy army placed into the 40k setting, they more than any other main chapter feel like a separate independent army so primaris units can sometimes look out of place compare to older ones, but this model turned out great!

Try dry brushing a white or something over the glaciers to make them look more frozen. The edges of ice are more focused so they appear more white. Right now the glaciers ended up just looking like blue rocks
Good job Jay here’s a tip to remember about Green stuff though, It cures more over time and working with it can occur in stages. If you wait an hour to an hour and a half it’ll become less sticky and firmer. Experiment with letting it sit for a little bit before you start to work with it depending on what you wanna do. You can also use thin coating of mineral oil to get rid of fingerprints instead of water and mineral oil evaporates within a few hours.
I like to paint blood ravens. So much red paint. To make it fun i like using upgrade sprues from other chapters. Mostly a combination of blood angels and raven guard for the blood and raven bits. But i have made a point to make intercessor sergeants wearing gear "borrowed" from other chapters.
Great video dude! For suggestions on what to paint next, I would love to see some marines from the Badab war. Most space marines are just the progenitor chapters now a days, and it would be cool if you highlighted some of the great chapters that have fallen by the wayside. I still think you should do Marines Errant; it would be a fun challenge to paint an entirely metallic paint scheme. The conversation options are also great, you could build a boarding shield or build a base that's the destroyed remains of a spaceship's hull. I love your videos and keep on keeping on dude!
Fine aluminum mesh used for clay sculpting can be used as cloth armatures. Cut it to size, shape how you want, apply a thin layer of miliput or aves apoxie sculpt, sand anything as needed when cured, and now you have a hard, clothed shape substrate to sculpt on.
Classic SW (before primaris, we are still waiting to have proper SW primaris units) hold the bolter in one hand and a chainsword in another. So that is a super wolfy detail, unique to them. I hope they get that again.
Here's a interesting thing about their strategems. Once you complete certain sagas they each enhance a single strategem making them go from good, to absolutely brutal. Beastslayer gives you -1 AP and LANCE on a unit (Doing this when charging a knight with their cavalry can bring down a large knight.) Warrior Born gives you fallback/advance and shoot/charge Majesty gives you battleshock tests and a 6 inch consolidation. Bear gives you a 4+ FNP against mortals and psychic attacks.
7:37 - I'm sure someone has suggested this to you before, but if you use Micro-Set and Micro-Sol solution (from Microscale Decals), that will soften the decals so they can be placed on uneven surfaces and help protect them from cracking.
I would love to see your take on the Exorcists! I'm currently working on an army of them and decided to give some of them just a few signs of corruption based on the demon they were possessed with and their length of service.
For My current SW army I'm painting all the old first born units in 2nd edition colors, big and bright, complete with goblin green bases. But the Combat patrol being my only source of new primaris models is more grimdark with cracked ice bases and a healthy amount of snow. I'm pretty much just doing it for aesthetic reasons but I guess Cawl didn't get the memo on what the SWs colors actually are XD
love the army painter snow. tip from my side: try to sprinkle some of the powder over the wet snow - depending on how wet it is, maybe you have to wait. looks much better to me.

You do you, but I am going to be that guy... The Wolves are the army I play. First as of last week in the updated Balance Data Sheet Space Wolves running Champions of Russ, now start with one Saga of your choice active. So much better then before! Saga of the Bear is so meaty! Second, canonically the 13th company escaped the destruction of Prospero by entering the webway and chasing the remaining Thousand Sons who were also trying to escape the Burning. Hunting the Thousand Sons in the Warp and ever since. The 13th company was rediscovered, and they had all become Wulfen, still hunting the Thousand Sons. This was discussed in the novel "The Curse of the Wulfen" and in "Wolf's Honor" (I think, its been a while since I read Wolf's Honor, or the Curse and I might be confusing books)... But again you do you, it is your army.
the data slate update made CoR better because we finally start with one active which is way better than having to try to achive them all throuhout the game. his space wolves kill team decked out with primal hounds bits is leagues above the space wolves guy he made in this video. all of the other guys, such as the White scars, Dark angels, Blood angels and even the Ultramarine guys he's made previously in this little series are way better looking and show proper chapter design compared to this guy, who is barely above what GW does for primaris Space wolves atm.
As ideas for more legions, I'd love to see Mantis Warriors, Mentor Legion or Raptors.... You might want to consider making them a crusade army (where it is an amalgamation of different chapters while not being death watch put together to face a common foe...)
I find the problem with the Space Wolves is you end up spending more money on supplies or 3rd party conversion bits to make them look more like actual Space Wolves. Also anytime GW makes an upgrade kit for them in 40k it is lackluster compared to other ones. Just look at the upgrade kit for both 1st born and primaris Black Templars. Hopefully they get a range refresh like the rumor mill is saying and a more extensive upgrade kit is included.
The Lich's Laboratory channel did a video with them recently called "Kitbashing The Charcharodons | The Pentarchy of Blood | Warhammer 40k Conversion Guide" Its a pretty perfect video from a small channel. Pete the wargamer also did a 5 Ways to Convert Space Marines Into Carcharadons video for a more primaris take, but both methods apply well across the board.
I don't yet have that much experience in working with Greenstuff and the like, but you could try creating stuff like Hair or fur with something like Nail scissors. Take the Greenstuff, bring it roughly into shape, but leave it a bit thicker, and then take a small, fine pair of scissors and start cutting little V shapes into the putty in a way, that roughly resembles overlapping scales. After that, you can either cut smaller V shapes into the big ones, or take a hobby knife and start "cutting" into the V shapes until the structures resemble tufts of hair. I used this process to create a (in lack of a better word) "mane" of feathers on a shaman like figure, by placing a piece of putty on the back of the Mini's head, neck and upper back, cutting those V shapes into it, and then flattened the Vs a bit and carefully cut a structure resembling a feather into each of the Vs with a hobby knife.
Fenrys Hjolda! I feel Space Wolves are the one Legion (and Chapter) that have so much flavor potential while building each model. Plus, there's a ton of stuff from 3rd party companies to add to the models.
YET, Jay completly forgot about the 3rd party stuff such as the Primal Hounds which would have made this model leagues better than the end result. Jay worked with the Primal Hounds bits while the primal hounds campaign was going on in order to somewhat act as a promotion of the campaign, where were these bits when they were truly needed?
The 13th Company followed the Chaos Marines after the battles on Prospero with the aim of anialhating them once and for all. Also due to their range from the Fang they became feral and existed on scavenging from whatever they found useful. Bolters were dropped in favour of axes and chain-swords plus hammers.
Great video. Abit too bright blue for me ( I like everything very grim dark) but some really cool techniques here and the end result looked really clean 👌🏻

Now you get to choose one Saga completed at the start of the Game. I would choose Sustained 1 for my Cavalry, coz they already have Lethal Hits and some of my mounts have Devastating Wounds. FNP you can complete with Bjorn and Techmarine supporting him.

Black Dragons - 21st (Cursed) Founding - Their bone blades should be cool to see on your models. Blood Ravens - Unknown Founding - Mostly just a DoW ask. Crimson Fists - 2nd Founding - The first chapter to ever be seen, having been on the cover art of Rogue Trader. Make sure they have a crimson power fist. Deathwatch - Ordo Xenos - You can basically use whatever chapter you want with this one. Flesh Tearers - 2nd Founding - A more vicious form of the Blood Angels chapter (they actually take pride in the Red Thirst, and are quite a lot more prone to the Black Rage than their progenitors). Plenty of opportunities for chain weapons. Also, Gabriel Seth's take on the Primaris Marines is based. Grey Knights - Ordo Malleus - Can you do this without any of the special parts? Or will you cave? Iron Snakes - 2nd Founding - Out of all art of space marines, one of my favourite will always be that one Marine with the respirator with a grill like that of a snarling beast, and the giant, thick, slab-like pauldrons. It's such an evocative image. Lamenters - 21st (Cursed) Founding - The checkered pattern on the pauldrons will give you a good challenge. Plus, we gotta love these boys. Mantis Warriors - Possible 8th Founding - Stealthy Samurai Marines. Rainbow Warriors - Unknown Founding - In the official lore, there's next to no information about them (though they do have rainbow-coloured plasma weapons according to a Trazyn novel), but there is someone who decided to do their own version of the Rainbow Warriors as an Aztec-themed chapter. Good luck on the fine rainbow stripes. Storm Giants - Unknown Founding (possibly during the 36th Millennium, so between 15th through 21st foundings, maybe older) - These Salamanders successors are described as being even larger and stronger than the marines of other chapters. I wanna see how you can do with kitbashing the size of your marines. Storm Wardens - Unknown Founding - Mostly because I love the idea of Scottish Space Marines.
Like to see your take on The Fallen I've always had an interest in them, specifically the Fallen who were deceived into attacking The Lion; tricked into thinking that their Primarch had betrayed The Emperor. Space Wolves are amazing to build and paint, the variations you can do are endless. Getting some primal hounds upgrades is just one of many that I have used with my army. Love everything about space Wolves. @jay The space Wolves detachment now allows you to auto complete a saga at the beginning of your first turn. So if there are less characters you can kill you can immediately take sustained hits. Last night I had sustained and lethal hits before round two. Also Saga of the bear can be done with hazardous rolls on Njal or Librarians. It's luck based but last night I managed to fail the roll with my Librarian, had to choose though between Lethal or 6+ fnp 😢. Overall my favourite detachment from a fun perspective.

I like the idea of the space wolves and would be interested in seeing some new minis for them, but a lot of the old stuff looks really silly in my opinion. And not, like, stubby-legged Crisis Suit silly, but "old man who lives alone in a forest" silly.
Wolfs hunt, so Sniperscope with a double drum-mag, for in case you have angered a bear or worse. I can see them using a Bajonet, you know. And a underslung launcher for some heavy dakka, I can see them wanting as well. Could be a short barrel (double) shotgun, a grenade launcher, a rocket launcher or even a grapple & climbing hook launcher with climbing rope winch. Naturally, it would need a bigger barrel for the main gun barrel. Plus several knives on his hip and extra drum-mags, like a double drum mounted on a mag, in between those two left front storage bags. And then a Power Sword. The alternative setup would use a power sword and a tower shield with a big gun with extra mags, mounted on the inside. And a couple of Ice-axes & ice-pikes, naturally.
Minotaurs! They're OP, and they don't come up often because of it. I still love them though, despite their Gary Stu lore, and bronze just looks right on Space Marines.
Fists would be good and I think I have a recipe. I use the army painter zealot yellow contrast paint then come in with Yriel yellow to really make it pop. Its so easy to get a lovely gradient from bright yellow higlights to yellow orange in the recesses. Who knew it could be so easy to paint Imperial Fists. It used to be a horrible chore with multi layering, which had mixed results but now its smooth and simple to get really effective gradients in just two steps. Of course why stop there. Hit it with Agrax shade then bring it back up with the Yriel yellow. This gives a less pristine finish but with further gradients. Instant Imperial Fists. Although I have always been a Space Wolves guy, the first 40K novel I read was 'Space Marine' featuring the Necromundan Spiders being recruited by the Imperial Fists. I also love the Legion and the whole you havn't lived until you have died at least twice vibe, and to serve the Emperor even in death thing. Of course the flames licking up the armour doesn't hurt either. My Legion are lead by the Artel W Legion Chaplain who is a suitable command figure for this unit.
Space wolf player here If you're doing fur/pelts/beards it's best to combine green stuff 50/50 with milliput. It's easier to sculpt and holds up just as well Also, you should paint Crimson fists next
3rd Edition states the 13th flew into the Eye Of Terror to fight Chaos in their backyard and the 13th returned to real space to help defend Cadia against Abaddons Black Crusade, they are also all suffering from the early stages of the wolfen curse.
What about some Tome Keepers, White Dwarf Magazines very own Chapter. I'm wondering how you would incorporate their unique feature of carrying tomes into batlle.
The 13th Company got lost in the Eye of Terror. They're still loyalists, but they have no access to fresh equipment, so they cannibalise parts from Chaos Legions They were one of the 4 subfactions introduced back when the 13th Black Crusade happened

The Space Wolves Detatchment rule is so cool anf fun but also so, so weak. It's what I call a "January with Vanilla Pudding" rule. Just so specific and situational that you probably won't see any benefit from it until it's too late. Like sure, you can get lethal hits, but you have to kill a monster or vehicle first, and it has to be killed by a character model, and you can only activate it at the end of your turn, and you can only have it up if you have none of the other sagas up because they don't stack, and if you choose to activate another saga you have to redo the saga you ended if you want to activate it again. The idea of Space Wolf characters earning glory and writing stories as they fight is awesome in theory. In practice, it's clunky and underwhelming. Here's hoping they get something more competitive.

First as of last week in the updated Balance Data Sheet Space Wolves running Champions of Russ, now start with one Saga of your choice active. So much better then before! Saga of the Bear is so meaty!
Second, canonically the 13th company escaped the destruction of Prospero by entering the webway and chasing the remaining Thousand Sons who were also trying to escape the Burning. Hunting the Thousand Sons in the Warp and ever since. The 13th company was rediscovered, and they had all become Wulfen, still hunting the Thousand Sons. This was discussed in the novel "The Curse of the Wulfen" and in "Wolf's Honor" (I think, its been a while since I read Wolf's Honor, or the Curse and I might be confusing books)... But again you do you, it is your army.
the data slate update made CoR better because we finally start with one active which is way better than having to try to achive them all throuhout the game.
his space wolves kill team decked out with primal hounds bits is leagues above the space wolves guy he made in this video. all of the other guys, such as the White scars, Dark angels, Blood angels and even the Ultramarine guys he's made previously in this little series are way better looking and show proper chapter design compared to this guy, who is barely above what GW does for primaris Space wolves atm.

As ideas for more legions, I'd love to see Mantis Warriors, Mentor Legion or Raptors.... You might want to consider making them a crusade army (where it is an amalgamation of different chapters while not being death watch put together to face a common foe...)
I find the problem with the Space Wolves is you end up spending more money on supplies or 3rd party conversion bits to make them look more like actual Space Wolves. Also anytime GW makes an upgrade kit for them in 40k it is lackluster compared to other ones. Just look at the upgrade kit for both 1st born and primaris Black Templars. Hopefully they get a range refresh like the rumor mill is saying and a more extensive upgrade kit is included.
This has got to be the most value anyone’s gotten out of a box of Intercessors.

Its a pretty perfect video from a small channel.
Pete the wargamer also did a 5 Ways to Convert Space Marines Into Carcharadons video for a more primaris take, but both methods apply well across the board.
I don't yet have that much experience in working with Greenstuff and the like, but you could try creating stuff like Hair or fur with something like Nail scissors.
Take the Greenstuff, bring it roughly into shape, but leave it a bit thicker, and then take a small, fine pair of scissors and start cutting little V shapes into the putty in a way, that roughly resembles overlapping scales.
After that, you can either cut smaller V shapes into the big ones, or take a hobby knife and start "cutting" into the V shapes until the structures resemble tufts of hair.
I used this process to create a (in lack of a better word) "mane" of feathers on a shaman like figure, by placing a piece of putty on the back of the Mini's head, neck and upper back, cutting those V shapes into it, and then flattened the Vs a bit and carefully cut a structure resembling a feather into each of the Vs with a hobby knife.
I like the info about battle mechanics. Im here for the models, never played 40k.

I feel Space Wolves are the one Legion (and Chapter) that have so much flavor potential while building each model. Plus, there's a ton of stuff from 3rd party companies to add to the models.
YET, Jay completly forgot about the 3rd party stuff such as the Primal Hounds which would have made this model leagues better than the end result. Jay worked with the Primal Hounds bits while the primal hounds campaign was going on in order to somewhat act as a promotion of the campaign, where were these bits when they were truly needed?

The 13th Company followed the Chaos Marines after the battles on Prospero with the aim of anialhating them once and for all. Also due to their range from the Fang they became feral and existed on scavenging from whatever they found useful. Bolters were dropped in favour of axes and chain-swords plus hammers.
Great video. Abit too bright blue for me ( I like everything very grim dark) but some really cool techniques here and the end result looked really clean 👌🏻

For one of your next Chapters I'd love to see you tackle the mysterious Minotaurs. Their bronze and dark red color scheme looks fantastic. They have some amazing 3rd party STLs too. If you want to get weird with it there is a hilariously loud alternate color scheme with yellow and orange stripes.

Black Dragons - 21st (Cursed) Founding - Their bone blades should be cool to see on your models.
Blood Ravens - Unknown Founding - Mostly just a DoW ask.
Crimson Fists - 2nd Founding - The first chapter to ever be seen, having been on the cover art of Rogue Trader. Make sure they have a crimson power fist.
Deathwatch - Ordo Xenos - You can basically use whatever chapter you want with this one.
Flesh Tearers - 2nd Founding - A more vicious form of the Blood Angels chapter (they actually take pride in the Red Thirst, and are quite a lot more prone to the Black Rage than their progenitors). Plenty of opportunities for chain weapons. Also, Gabriel Seth's take on the Primaris Marines is based.
Grey Knights - Ordo Malleus - Can you do this without any of the special parts? Or will you cave?
Iron Snakes - 2nd Founding - Out of all art of space marines, one of my favourite will always be that one Marine with the respirator with a grill like that of a snarling beast, and the giant, thick, slab-like pauldrons. It's such an evocative image.
Lamenters - 21st (Cursed) Founding - The checkered pattern on the pauldrons will give you a good challenge. Plus, we gotta love these boys.
Mantis Warriors - Possible 8th Founding - Stealthy Samurai Marines.
Rainbow Warriors - Unknown Founding - In the official lore, there's next to no information about them (though they do have rainbow-coloured plasma weapons according to a Trazyn novel), but there is someone who decided to do their own version of the Rainbow Warriors as an Aztec-themed chapter. Good luck on the fine rainbow stripes.
Storm Giants - Unknown Founding (possibly during the 36th Millennium, so between 15th through 21st foundings, maybe older) - These Salamanders successors are described as being even larger and stronger than the marines of other chapters. I wanna see how you can do with kitbashing the size of your marines.
Storm Wardens - Unknown Founding - Mostly because I love the idea of Scottish Space Marines.

Do the thieving magpies! Blood ravens are one of the coolest chapters because of their lore, and they are what drew a lot of people into the hobby through DOW games

I was hesitant about using demonic yellow for the shoulders and after seeing you use it, my concerns are gone.
Space Wolves are amazing to build and paint, the variations you can do are endless. Getting some primal hounds upgrades is just one of many that I have used with my army. Love everything about space Wolves.
@jay The space Wolves detachment now allows you to auto complete a saga at the beginning of your first turn. So if there are less characters you can kill you can immediately take sustained hits. Last night I had sustained and lethal hits before round two. Also Saga of the bear can be done with hazardous rolls on Njal or Librarians. It's luck based but last night I managed to fail the roll with my Librarian, had to choose though between Lethal or 6+ fnp 😢. Overall my favourite detachment from a fun perspective.

I like the idea of the space wolves and would be interested in seeing some new minis for them, but a lot of the old stuff looks really silly in my opinion. And not, like, stubby-legged Crisis Suit silly, but "old man who lives alone in a forest" silly.

Wolfs hunt, so Sniperscope with a double drum-mag, for in case you have angered a bear or worse.
I can see them using a Bajonet, you know.
And a underslung launcher for some heavy dakka, I can see them wanting as well.
Could be a short barrel (double) shotgun, a grenade launcher, a rocket launcher or even a grapple & climbing hook launcher with climbing rope winch.
Naturally, it would need a bigger barrel for the main gun barrel.
Plus several knives on his hip and extra drum-mags, like a double drum mounted on a mag, in between those two left front storage bags.
And then a Power Sword.
The alternative setup would use a power sword and a tower shield with a big gun with extra mags, mounted on the inside.
And a couple of Ice-axes & ice-pikes, naturally.
That watercolor Space Wolf is great, ima have to check that video out.
Minotaurs! They're OP, and they don't come up often because of it. I still love them though, despite their Gary Stu lore, and bronze just looks right on Space Marines.
Fists would be good and I think I have a recipe. I use the army painter zealot yellow contrast paint then come in with Yriel yellow to really make it pop. Its so easy to get a lovely gradient from bright yellow higlights to yellow orange in the recesses. Who knew it could be so easy to paint Imperial Fists.
It used to be a horrible chore with multi layering, which had mixed results but now its smooth and simple to get really effective gradients in just two steps. Of course why stop there. Hit it with Agrax shade then bring it back up with the Yriel yellow. This gives a less pristine finish but with further gradients. Instant Imperial Fists. Although I have always been a Space Wolves guy, the first 40K novel I read was 'Space Marine' featuring the Necromundan Spiders being recruited by the Imperial Fists.
I also love the Legion and the whole you havn't lived until you have died at least twice vibe, and to serve the Emperor even in death thing. Of course the flames licking up the armour doesn't hurt either. My Legion are lead by the Artel W Legion Chaplain who is a suitable command figure for this unit.

If you're doing fur/pelts/beards it's best to combine green stuff 50/50 with milliput. It's easier to sculpt and holds up just as well

My first 40k box was the SW combat Patrol! lots of fur bits in there
3rd Edition states the 13th flew into the Eye Of Terror to fight Chaos in their backyard and the 13th returned to real space to help defend Cadia against Abaddons Black Crusade, they are also all suffering from the early stages of the wolfen curse.

They're still loyalists, but they have no access to fresh equipment, so they cannibalise parts from Chaos Legions
They were one of the 4 subfactions introduced back when the 13th Black Crusade happened

Jay, I’d love to see you do an Iron Snakes marine. Given the journey you’ve been on with finding a metallic / non metallic method you like … think it’s a fun choice
The Space Wolves Detatchment rule is so cool anf fun but also so, so weak. It's what I call a "January with Vanilla Pudding" rule. Just so specific and situational that you probably won't see any benefit from it until it's too late. Like sure, you can get lethal hits, but you have to kill a monster or vehicle first, and it has to be killed by a character model, and you can only activate it at the end of your turn, and you can only have it up if you have none of the other sagas up because they don't stack, and if you choose to activate another saga you have to redo the saga you ended if you want to activate it again. The idea of Space Wolf characters earning glory and writing stories as they fight is awesome in theory. In practice, it's clunky and underwhelming. Here's hoping they get something more competitive.
