Yes the head on the tripod can rotate through 90 degrees.

I've reviewed as a purchaser and user. On my Android device, once connected and paired, I open the video/photo capture app and the remote button on the selfie stick, either starts or stops, if in video mode. Or takes a picture if in photo mode. Hope this helps. I can make a video for this if you would like. Let me know 👍

I'm not sure what your question is regarding. I've reviewed from a purchaser and users perspective. The device connects via Bluetooth and your phone shoots video or takes pictures. So you've either got a connection issue but I'm not sure.
