My favorite spots are rural areas in WV/KY/VA/TN/NC/GA and PA. It's something about those mountains that I enjoy with the trains combined, groovy job!

Next paycheck I’ll be getting this dvd. Nice scenes of that area in particular. My dad used to drive coal trucks from mines to plants and tipples in the 1980s and 1990s used to talk about Island Creek and Coal Mountain where he has family, said Island Creek Coal Company was so big in that part of the state that after other coal companies closed their company stores, Island Creek rebranded theirs as a region grocery chain. Also has stories of weaving through Williamson with a tri axle dump truck crossing into Kentucky and carrying coal back over the border into WV to take it to the plant, of course trying to avoid law enforcement because they always were overloaded and none of them ever logged mileage, use to work 20+ hours getting paid per load.
Also I was working in Bluefield (the Virginia side) through 2020, I seem to recall the PC and NKP units being there for a long time working as helpers and powering local trains don’t know if they were in some type of captive service but I would see them nightly bringing in coal trains and some aggregate from the quarry there.
    Great video

The US rail industry has done their very best to discourage passenger rail service for the more lucrative freight service. With our over crowded highways, it is short sighted to rely only on cars and buses for our future inter-urban transportation. While we here in the US think of the immediate return on our investment, the Europeans look to the future. If you want to see real modern passenger rail systems, search UA-cam for the rail systems they have in Europe.

Think how many trucks are taken off the road by a single freight train, one railcar usually holds more than a single truck.

@@tennvalleyrailproductions8140 And just think of how many cars and buses could also be taken off the roads benefiting our environment?

@@tennvalleyrailproductions8140 Most Europeans have cars, but they also have a modern rail system for the convenience of long distance travel. Rail freight service is great, it takes a lot of the truck traffic off our over crowded roads. Rail travel in the US would be even greater if there were more inter urban rail service to more cities, not just the major cities.
