    A good way to get cork sticks from wine corks is to use a bread/meat punch and a hammer, definitely worth some time sharpening the punch with a file first but you can get nice tidy cylinders as sold in shops for free, works better if you slice the cork first so you are punching out little barrels rather than long strips. Anyway, cheers for the vid, hopefully giving them a go this weekend if I get the chance

    Hi mark, how long can you keep these for before they go off? Also once they have cooled after cooking, are they okay to freeze and then use another time? And another question (last one now I promise lol) once cooked do you just leave them in the water you have cooked them in until you use them? Thanks

      hi phil, yes leave them in the water you have cooked them in. They take a while to go off, I generally use them within 3 days but I know some people who keep them weeks, it's up to you how long you keep them before you use them but my advice is 'fresh is best'. Lastly, yes you can freeze them no trouble at all, I usually keep a spare bag in the bottom of the freezer myself👍

    I have cooked a batch up for France and added sugar with the intention of them going gloopy. Been sitting in bucket for 3 days since being cooked will crack open and check on day 5/6 but bucket seems to be sucking in is this normal?

    • @MarkCarp
      @MarkCarp  Рік тому

      yeah it's normal mr t, open the lid now and again so the bucket doesn't suck in, remember those nuts are fermenting👍

    Could you prep these with the thermos flask method

    • @MarkCarp
      @MarkCarp  6 років тому

      no elian, tiger nuts are much bigger and harder than hemp, they need to be soaked for 24hr and then boiled in an open pan for at least 30 minutes, the flask method should never be used for tigers mate😉
