The 01 is very clearly shown boosting in Circuit Mode several times, even in Double-One when it was upgraded to the /C variant. The AKF-11 onward, though, always boosts in Aero Mode, so you're right about this particular car.

booster : wings have to be fold (Aero Mode) if not, can not turn on. when wings folded : can not curve. ASURADA have to change Circuit Mode(wings unfold) when go on curve.

The AKF-11 was powered by a V12. The GSX on the other hand is the one with the V10

Even on the older infinity games it's around 540 Kph and the car can do that top speed without the boost. Yeah monstrous power. 640 kph boosted.
