We invented hair weaves and we dominate the hair industry WE CAN DO WHATEVER WE WANT WITH OUR HAIR! It is OUR culture. White people need to stick to their green and blue Mohawks and stop catching lice trying to compete with the Queens just to get black 🍆 💯

Really black people invented weave? I thought it was a Chinese and Indian because they own all the weave shop. weaves and braids is for everyone.

why is racism all people can see about video, I believe freedom Styles is not racist that was why she chose to braid this lady's hair.... you guys are judging and making comments that don't even make sense! The hair has already been done, all you need to do is appreciate the good Job done and ask questions about the hair or something...instead of making noise about skin color....I'm proudly Ghanaian and if braiding white people's hair would generate money I definitely will do....y'all are wearing wigs and you want to make comparisons....YOU NEED JESUS!
GOOD JOB freedom, and what was the hair color you used?.

This is nice to read this. I am white and I've loved wearing afro hairstyles (micro braids, box braids, crochet) since I was like 15. And it was not popular AT ALL by that time in my area. Only when I grew did I realize what cultural appropriation is. Yet I instinctively always understood that, and that's why I was feeling a bit guilty, so everytime a white person was talking about my braids or crochet, I always told them that this is an African or Creole (I'm French so many black people here are West Indian) hairstyle, mostly worn by black women.
Right now I'm wearing a weave because I was fed up with my last too short bad haircut. But I did it at a salon, while usually I do my braids by myself. So I already sent 2 women to that salon, because they liked it and I couldn't but tell them that my hairdresser is African and has a afro hair salon.
I don't really know how to behave about cultural appropriation because I LOVE wearing braids and crochet sooooo much! I learnt to cornrow on my Barbie doll when I was a kid.
So if anyone can tell me how to wear it right as a white girl, except from telling people that it's an afro hairstyle because I already do that systematically, please feel free to tell me how you feel about it.
      Thx in advance.
(PS : I was taught at school that if someone copies you, it's because they know you're good.)

People should be encouraging this. There is so much hate in this world against people. Women should be sticking together and embracing each other’s cultural habits (not the way kardashian does it for fame) to prove that we are all equals . Teach each other , learn from each other, that’s the bests way to unite as women.

Kudos to you for a job well done. I didn’t see color. I saw skill. My hair is thin and it’s very hard to braid so when I realized that your client had even thinner hair and the hair you were using wasn’t that high quality, I was even more impressed by what you did with it and how neatly you braided it. As for the racists in the comment section, stop. Racism is stupid no matter how “oppressed “ the racist might feel. Hate is hate. And the hypocrisy is disgusting. I live in a neighborhood where there are more beauty supply stores than supermarkets. And the variety of weaves are endless. Therefore, I think all of the people who wear weaves, straighten their hair in any way should collectively sit down and reflect on their own insecurities. I for one have a big head. Thus, more hair to distract from the obvious. As for all of the “cultural appropriation”, I am sick of this argument. We are never going to see racism go anywhere even in 2018 if we are infected by the same idiocy as the bigots who are the real issue here. Not this innocent young woman who probably paid a lot of money to try a new hairstyle. We’ve all been there. Wouldn’t it be great if we could “share” the things that we think are being stolen from us and find some common ground. Awesome video.. Horrible comments. Smh.

Menya Nimyel I hate the natural hair war. Wear your hair your way natural, straightened, permed, relaxed, colored.
There is only one place that talks about how women should wear their hair. That is in The Bible. That will only be done by those who have a revelation of that.
But back to this art. The braider got down on this hair. Young model wears it well.

but I've never seen so many racist people that like to scream stop racism and say the most racist thing she wants her hair braided most likely your hair is too soft to braid naturally probably unravels easily so she had some weave put in her hair what's the problem and the hairdresser did her job money don't discriminate make your money and it's a good thing she's out there making people happy and feel better about themselves and that doesn't have a color on it

The Braiding of the hair goes way back all the way to Medieval times, not only that I've seen ancient art work of women in Asia wearing their hair in braids. As far as I am concerned, braiding hair should be something that everyone can do, regardless of their heritage, because it was apart of everyone's at one point in time. The braiding of the hair is not just an "African thing". If this girl can't get her hair braided just like the rest of us, then black people need to stop straightening their hair and dyeing it blonde! Just saying!
You did an AWESOME job on her hair, regardless! She looked so cute!!!!!!!!!

I am white and was not aware of how people discriminate against black people for wearing their natural hair as it was never something i had experienced. It is a stigma that refuses to shift, regardless of what people claim to be "open to". I understand why it feels that when white people wear these styles they wear as a novelty, but what needs to change is the stigma and does it not only make it worse by saying that caucasian people can't wear these styles? You want to preserve your heritage, yes? these styles are your culture, yes? Yours to keep and not share or teach about? You feel your culture is being washed away when people say that your natural hair isn't "good enough" isn't "professional". Why can a person of different hair color, skin tone and roots not learn about it and then teach their children about it do that they grow up with respect and understanding of peoples different uniqueness.
You want to protect but your protecting is also stopping the teaching. Thankyou for reading.

I love the fact that millennials are shying away from our county's negative past when it comes to racism. Once all the 40+ (negative & racist) people die out, no one would even acknowledge this as a "problem" due to the fact that this client is white. Ppl would just see the video as it is and commend the stylist in her beautiful & hard work 🙏🏾💯

Honestly. Someone answer me this question, (but please don't be rude, I'm just asking a question) Why is it such a bad thing if a white girl gets braids. It's not because she is trying to steal your culture, but that she finds beauty in your culture and wants to adapt it to herself. Yes, the style did originate in African culture, and it is a hairstyle found in the black community. But why is it such a problem for white (or other colors even) to have a hairstyle that they find beautiful?

Connie Lee because black hairstyles is a way to express our culture and our history. Wearing afros and box braids and cornrows and etc is a way to celebrate and express our blackness and it gets frustrating when other people wear it because we simply cant have shit to ourselves. Also we get shitted on for wearing our natural hair and our own styles but when when a white girl wears them its trendy so every other white girl gotta hop on the “new trend” you understand what i mean.

I just wish that the person who did mine had done then correctly, because after 2 1/2 weeks they became lose and there were large gaps between my Scalp and where the braid started I do wanna get mine redone I just have to find the right person to do with it.
