That is one sweet Axe there Ira! love the upwards sweep it looks like it would make it glide through your work surfaces. Can't wait for the review on it.
I've discovered I might be a little OCD on sharpness, not only on the type of grind I put on a blade but the kind of edge I use (depending on the purpose of the knife/axe). yes some grinds and edges take more work initially but the end result is a tool that complements the work you're doing and requires less maintenance. Anyway I'm rambling, I could go on for hours on this (you would think that sharpening would be more simple haha) suffice it to say; experiment with your edges/grinds and you'll find your tools will really perform for you.
Great video - congrats on the axe. You give the pro-est of tips at 4:51. Cuz we all do dumb things sometimes - better to have it damage your sheath than your blade!
I may be wrong but on the Gransfors website they write that a lefthand axe has e right bevel, so your axe is for a right handed carver right? The grinder side is against the wood to prevent digging to deep in the wood. I have the same axe as right handed carver and have a left grinded bevel like you have with chisels. man with all respect but that rivets means nothing to a forged blade, you never see how much you can beat an axe head in a metal that is not forged??? the biggest issue it is that can pass throu leather but i never saw an axe from Gransfors that had that problem..they are very decent..
Nice video. Glad I tuned in. Keep posting.
I bought one of these a few years back. It was hard to find at the time. I love it!

Sooooooo real!!!!!! Thanks for watching man!
@@irapelletier5506 right on bro! enjoyed
Watching this video makes me realize I've never actually used a sharp axe before 😂
Can't wait to see the full review after you've had it for a while!
A sharp axe is an amazing tool my friend! Not much good for leather working, but I have used it as a round knife in a pinch!
@@irapelletier5506 Haha I've actually never used a round knife!
@@BlackFlagLeatherGoods Ill do a video on round knives one of these days and get you to try one!

I plan on doing a sharpening video next actually. My cheap and easy method of sharpening any blade to scary sharp!

I’ve learned from experience!
@@irapelletier5506 ??? Are you serious? I never drink before using an axe LoL

Really? Okay. Then I have a question: what does the flat side do, hanging in the air? LoL
Draw it on the paper and you'll see which side goes where.
@@elim7228 So write an email to the Gransfors website that they change there discription maybe ?Cause they advise what i write here above.....
I'm from Chile and I want to buy this axe how I can buy?
There is a link to where I got mine in the description of the video, and you can also order them from Lee valley
