I debated this like crazy: 4-prong vs. 3-prong vs. 6-prong. I decided on 6-prong for my 4cttw solitaires because it made the stones look bigger and rounder. The 4-prong makes round solitaires look too square, IMO.
It's not just girls with pierced ears nowadays, but quite a few of us guys have pierced ears with earrings in them.
Personally I prefer the 4 prong basket setting for my diamond stud earrings. I originally had the 3 prong martini style earrings, but found the sharp point of the earring base worked its way into the piercing holes, irritating them and making the entrance to the holes bigger. Earlobes are much more comfortable with the 4 prong ear studs as the base of the earring where it joins the post, sits flat against the earlobe.
Great explanation as always Bonnie! Thank you 😊
Both settings are lovely. I love the delicacy of the settings, allowing for the diamond to shine. Your craftsmanship is wonderful!! I love the basket as shown here- delicate yet strong! ❤
Absolutely! Also, I love the way you put it! Delicate yet strong.
Such a helpful & thorough video! You covered ALL of my questions & concerns re: Martini vs. Basket setting! Thank you!!!!💎💎
Glad you enjoyed it, dear 😍 so happy I could help!
Thank you!!!! This was incredibly helpful. I know exactly what I’m looking for now.
Yay we're so happy our content was helpful to you!
Martini 3-prong settings are perfect for “mature” earlobes! Just saying. Big disc backs are a must.
I did have this question and know you read my mind and did this video just for me! Mind reader, Bonnie!
Just for you, Debra ;) Thanks for your support.
Yes!!! Thank you!! I tried researching this for MONTHS, & NOTHING!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤😍

Best bonnie super quality diamond's
I have .80 total for the pair, lol, I wish either setting would make them look bigger, but I don't think that's going to happen, I actually graduated to this size from a half CT. Looking at these makes me feel like I haven't even started school yet!
Love your channel!
OMG! 😱Think I'll start saving for diamond studs! I never went ahead because the piercing on my right ear isn't straight and makes a lot of earrings look droopy. That martini setting is screming my name! ❤️
YAY! Well so happy you've find the diamond stud setting that is right for you!
My favorite video. I have watched for multiple times. LOL.
Yayyyyy :-)
I had my jeweler create a low profile to my 3ct studs. 4 prong. I don’t like how the martini feels. Also, bezel setting is pretty too.
Hey bonnie please could you do a video on oval solitaire stud earrings in larger carat size too xxx
Will keep that in mind! Thank you for your support
Hey Bonnie, apart the beautiful studs wish to compliment You on the amazing Hair!..simply gorgeous! ❤️🥰
You are so sweet, Sharon!
@@ByBonnieJewelry …not to mention the unique beauty You are and Your style!…simply to die for!…God bless You 🙏🏻❤️🥰
❤❤❤
Thank you so much for this! Does the martini setting allow more light to the diamond? With the 4 prong basket covering more of the surface of the side of the diamond, will it appear less sparkly?
Hi dear! Great questions. No matter the martini or the 4 prong, both styles allow as much light to enter the diamond as possible. Both styles will also be just as sparkly, as long as you have the same quality diamond for each ear!
What about for lower carat weights. 1 or less...
My earrings (2ct ea) are set in a martini setting & while they do NOT DROOP, the diamond feels loose! I've had it tightened TWICE (these were purchased b4 I knew about Ms Bonnie). It drives me CRAZY. 1st, I thought it was caused by wearing my mask, & I had them tightened. Then it happened again! I'm EXTREMELY GENTLE w/ my jewelry, don't even wear them frequently! I also take all my jewelry off when I get home!! I thought it was d/t the martini setting, but now I see this & NOPE!! Pleeeese HELP!!😭❤
We're sorry to hear about your current situation, Momma-kins. It sounds like a might be an issue of craftsmanship but we're not too sure :-/ We would love to create a new set for you. We all deserve to wear high quality diamond jewelry that we can wear daily. Please reach out through our website if you'd like to learn more about how we can help. Are these diamonds 3 or 4 carat?
What about 4 prong martini?
Hi Bonnie, do you ever use IGI certified stones? If not, can you please explain? I have seen many sellers offer IGI stones which tend to be more cost-friendly than GIA stones. I am unsure what the significant difference is other than grading standards but are stones lower quality?
