I'm from Germany. I think in America, like everywhere else in the world, there are great people, as well as negative people.
I don't like the american system, neither politically nor economically. In my eyes, it's inhumane.

Norwegian here. Americans are not at all unpopular here. We might not like the politics, but we like Americans. I allways meet and talk to Americans when i am travaling around my continent. They are easy to talk to and generally nice.

It heavily depends on where in Europe you ask that question. Americans are probably more liked in Eastern Europe than Western Europe where American culture seen as competition. Here in Poland, for the last 10 years, Americans have always been in the top five most liked nations, often topping the rankings, Italians were the only Western European nation to be in the top five, and most Western European nations were not eligible for top 10, usually because people from Western Europe consider themselves more cultured, educated and righteous than others, and they perceive other parts of the world as backward, which is why we perceive them as arrogant and pretentious.

Just because people may hate what the government of a country does that doesn't mean they hate its inhabitants. Most Europeans like Americans, hard not to, even if, for various reasons ,they may dislike the foreign policy of the US regarding certain things..

When I think about the massive polarization in the US, I always have to think about a Dutch saying that goes _'Twee honden vechten om een been en een derde gaat ermee heen'._ Wich means as much as _'Two dogs fight over a bone while a third one takes it home'._ In my opinion this saying describes perfectly what is happening in Amerika.

Good one, 100% agree. I also don't understand how the US in so many ways, doesn't try to be the best- they don't try to be the most ''free'' anymore, or in terms of democracy, they don't want to fix their mobility system, or inefficiency in city building. So on. All they try to be. is the strongest in terms of military, but that will too fall because of de wet van de vertragende voorsprong ''Law of the handicap of a head start'' they're decreasing in most positive metrics, and I'm not sure how they can improve again and be what they were in like the 1900's or so.

What people in the USA (and as half American, USA and half European lived and worked , studied on both continents), (yes my dear fellow Americans Europe is a continent not a single country just like the USA is. Europe has a lot of countries 44-50 depending on what you include for a country to be a country. And American is a broad concept North America is 23 countries but when you talk to Americans in the USA it is only one in best scenarios they will mention Canada. The USA was once great but has fallen down the lists of pretty much everything nowadays. I remember how much easier the classes were at university in the USA the tests, the classes, the final exam but the worst were how little was taught on every country outside of the USA and still I knew more about the USA than most of my fellow students at the university in the states. But "Americans" are very friendly and ope I just wish they could eat some more greens in their diet for man they are huge at an early age and it does not help that on average they are also bit shorter than Europeans in general. It is much easier to start a successful company in the states than in Europe I know from experience. But the most funny thing is that so so many Americans say they are Italian or Greek, Swedish and what not just because their great xxxxxxxx father came from that country but they know absolutely nothing about the respective country they cannot point on it on a map nor name the capital or speak that particular language so sorry no you are not Swedish just because you inherit a MORA-ClOCK from you ancestor 200 years back, unless you set it at the Swedish timeline hehehehe, just kidding. My bf is 100% USA-American but he says he is German/Danish so when he moved back here to Europe with me we managed to get in contact with some relatives of him, but he did not like that can speak both German and Danish and ofc I teased him for that not being "European" ofc I do not know every language here in Europe but I was born in Greece and brought up in Sweden, Greek spoken ofc so with that Norwegian and Danish comes without much difficulty and English, German, French is mandatory plus (if you want) a fourth language of choice in my case Spanish. I wished more people from the USA could afford to come to Europe they would get a total different picture of it, my boyfriends friends/family tells us that when they come to visit us that every country is so different from the next and the USA and Europe is more or less equal land-size wise. I do like going to the states much more than my "American" bf he usually stays back home here in the UK!

I think what that woman said will go by many; the split in Western and Eastern Europe, and our differences.
Also Europe is not the same as the European Union, etc. Europe can be seen as a collective, but fact remains we are individual countries in a union.
Also, USA has more distance from many other global places, and their problems/struggles, why it can be so "focused" on itself, creating this bubble of a kind of Islanders mentality. I mean Orbán is not that different from Trump.

lol, everybody around the world that has access to whatever form of media knows what the Fourth of July is. Americans have a tendency to force their holidays upon others. Heck I have been asked while working in a Dutch Hotel "How late the fireworks will start" on what for me was a simple Tuesday evening. When asking why there would be fireworks during the week the answer was "Because it is independance day of course"
      Examples of these "exported" holidays?
The modern Christmas Celebration including Coca Cola Claus, Halloween, Valentines day, Mothersday, Fathersday to name a few.

I don't hate Americans as a Belgian usually I like them they are easy going and behave casual certainly not snooty as we Europeans can be. They are poorly educated though (not stupid just ignorent) in general knowledge.but that naivity can be charming and annoying at the same time. Their prudishness strikes me. They are so politicaly correct but they think they have freedom of speech as the only country in the world . I watched on YT Americans react on our football culture and their shocked OMG reactions were more hilarious to me then what the British supporters were singing.

Most people don't really have a solid opinion on Americans but will try to form one when asked. In most cases this will be based on current events or political situations. If you compare the "opinions" during the Obama, Trump and Biden eras, you will notice that shift very clearly. Duing Trump it probably has been the most negative since the ugly parts of the USA decided to crawl from under the rocks. Not to be an ah but in general the view on Americans is more positive when a Democrat is President than when a Republican is President.

    • @baramuth71

I also think that Trump in particular, with his manner when he was still president, his condescending manner, his way of saying who am I and what are you, and not exactly his honesty, have done enormous damage to the reputation of the USA.

    • @zugi
      @zugi 25 днів тому

I wouldn't agree with you on democrat vs. republican part of your answer. But that is again problem when asking such a small group of people and from selected european countries. Eastern Europe likes republican party in USA better ( in general) because democrat party has been pushing a lot of things with which Eastern Europe is not in agreement but it's still pushed on us trough media and politics on larger scale (such as gender, sex, abortion, race and immigration laws).
I believe Western European countries are more in agreement on those topics with democrat party and unfortunately Western Europe is writing the laws in EU whether or not Eastern Europe is liking it. That's why there is such an constant assault on Poland, Hungary, Italy and other countries.

No, you have every right to be pro-RFK. The pro Trump and Biden also don't hide their thoughts and feelings. Why should you?
It's not like he has no chance at all. Also if he fits best with your views on the policies that he represents the US should take.
If you are convinced that is the way to go, you should do that. Be true to oneself.
The people in your comment section are also all individuals, with their personal opinions and views. We should be able to communicate and live together, side by side. The issue is with how thing impact, influence others. We are not just individuals but also part of collectives and groups. If the world burns it doesn't care if you are politically left or right. It will strike both.
The denial of stuff is what holds people from moving forward. You can't change what you don't recognize. This also entails to reflect and be self-critiqual which is one of the harder things to do.
USA polarized and divided in mostly two camps/tribes/cults: Blue and Red.
It is not a representative democracy. And as is very visible at the moment, even with Biden as president, with the right-wing supreme court.... it doesn't matter. Project 2025 is already prepped, and slowly installed to be implemented at day one. The genocide enablers are not stopping this, talking about this, etc. It's not even on the mind of senile Joe. Which also makes it clear that Joe is not fully in control or running the show, his administration is.
Both sides are the wrong path, but the system.... money = speech ....etc.
What can you do, but vote with your own conscience; if that is RFK, you won't get flag by me. You would have had with Trump and Biden, from my side. I would not understand that choice. But that's me, RFK would not be my vote.... but, hey that's a democracy.

The video viewed is very biased, and seems selected from the (probably few) europeans that is mostly positive toward USA, you should probably find a "bigger" study from a single region and then do a "region" vs "USA" - Europe is so diverse in comparison to USA that you can't really make this video you reacted to without it being viewed as "cherry" picked.
So no, not a good video to react to, sorry
