The Toyota GR010 HYBRID '21 is a race car produced by Toyota. It first appears in Gran Turismo 7, where it appeared in update 1.15, in order to support the 2022 Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup competition.
This is the first Le Mans Hypercar to be featured in the series.
Furthermore, this is also the first Le Mans-winning Hypercar, and also, currently the most successful Hypercar in active competition.
This car has won Le Mans for a second time in the 2022 race, albeit with the #8 car driven by Sebastien Buemi, Ryo Hirakawa and Brendon Hartley. This also marks Toyota's fifth Le Mans victory, and that the car won the FIA WEC season overall (both in drivers and manufacturers' championships) in 2021 and 2022. However, the car's (and Toyota's) Le Mans-winning streak came to an end when it finished in second place during the 2023 race, where it lost to the Ferrari 499P (not featured in the games), with the second GR010 (#7) earning a DNF due to both a crash and a mechanical failure. However, it still remains the championship-winning car of the FIA WEC for three years in a row.
The 2023 #8 livery is the championship-winning car of the 2023 season, although the livery in-game was added before sakura decals have been added to the actual car.
For the 2023 Olympic Esports Series qualifiers, finals, and replica event race, a specially liveried version (internally a separate instance to the regular car) of the car was used, featuring a carbon fiber paint color, Bridgestone tire stickers (as Bridgestone is an official Olympics partner, much like Toyota) and a manually installed car number (#7). This version of the car is not available outside of the related events, similar to GT Academy versions of certain Nissan cars in PlayStation 3-era games.
