Blade removal after shaving is difficult because both are cumbersome. I find that the blade gets "hung up" in the cap, on both, after a shave which could lead to a nasty cut (experienced). The only way I found to remove the blade is to tap the cap with the handle onto a face cloth and then pick up the blade on its sides (non sharp sides).
I have seen misalignment on the qshave. When I see this happening, I disassemble and do a good cleaning making sure that all the soap residue and hair is gone. When reassembling the qshave I check to see that the blade "platform" opening on each side is equal when moving the adjustment. If not, I rotate the platform 180 degrees and reassemble then check spacing again. I also check the spring. I place the blade on the platform, not the cap, at the 6 setting. I make sure that the blade is centered and then snap the cap onto the handle. I check for blade gap and alignment of the blade to the bar. Then reduce the setting from 6 to the setting that I will use for my shave. I again check for alignment and blade gap. If it still does not align I open the setting up to 6 and shake the razor and bring the setting back to my shave setting. This normally will solve my gap and alignment issue. If this still does not work I remove the cap and start the process again. This sounds like a lot of work but it only takes a few seconds to accomplish.
I have found that both razors can be very aggressive. When looking at the razors you can see why they have the nickname "potato peeler" because of the close resemblance. I purchased my qshave for traveling purposes and it works well for me, even on a daily shave. As many point out "you get what you pay for" but many cannot or don't want to spend a ton of money on a razor but want to experience a shave with the "potato peeler". I don't clearly see what causes the qshave misalignment because both have similar construction. I can only think that it has to do with tolerances and spring pressure.

I used a feather blade for the first time today and used the QShave adjustable razor on setting 4. No blood and smooth. I would therefore think the razor lined up properly. My razor has an “A” on the base plate and top. So long as both “A” are lined up in the same direction, the razor lines up properly. I know the earlier version had “dots” that needed to be lined up.

You're right about the Futur being more aggressive - no matter how careful I was, I got razor burn. I've been using the QShave ever since with excellent results..When I say,"aggressive," regarding the Futur, I mean "rough." I returned it to Amazon. I was surprised. Before that, I was shaving with a Henson.

@MarkSzorady another great detailed educational breakdown of wet shaving products. I have a 3pcs QShave razor. It was my 3rd traditional wet shaving razor i bought. It was my introduction to an aggressive razor😂. I really learned the hardway 😂. Its was good for the price , under $7 on sale. I still use it in my rotation, but it doesn't compare to the Rockwell 's, Muhle's, Merkur's, Henson's, or Leaf's of the shaving world.

I’m a shaving novice re brands and different types. I didn’t know which one to get so I chose a cheapie qshave one. Then I found out everyone loved merkur 34c so then I ordered that one. I immediately regretted buying qshave. Then when I started using the merkur it was way too mild. So I tried qshave and for me it well outperformed 34c. But snob in me didn’t want to have a cheap razor as my main one so then I got mulhue 41 which is so expensive. But that was too aggressive for my skin. So now I’m back to qshave and I’ve just ordered fatur. I didnt know what I was going to do with qshave but your idea of having it as the travel one is a great idea! I’ll do that too.

Brother i own a QShave Futur Clone and i have no idea what's wrong with the design but it always ends up cutting me and i'm using it at max on level 3, worst part is that i have a 5$ non-adjustable razor that has alignment issues and makes the blade longer on one end of it and i still get better, safer and easier shaves than with using the the potato peeler futur. i don't know if it's my fault or the razor just being bad but it got me scared and traumatized, it's a nice razor but good god does it have a "Learning" Curve, i bet it would've been easier to just use a straight razor

I watched you, Kenshaves and some others 3 years ago when i got into DE shaving and got a lot of info. I have had the Qshave now for those 3 years and it has been good BUT it's getting a little harder to turn the dial (i imagine it just needs cleaned) but now that I know that the style is my favorite im considering getting the real deal Merkur. I like the adjustable part because i may go 3-4 days so ill go wide open on 6 downward and then close it up to 1 for the next pass going against the stubboe. I could go with another QShave but hell between my Shark super chrome SS 100 pack for $6 and my 2 arko shave sticks (still on the 1st one) i wouldnt feel bad for splurging..
Hell ive gone 3 years without having to buy any shave products compared to the multiboade cartridges..

Mixwell, I was fortunate enough to find a very lightly used Futur and was able to purchase at a nicely reduced price. The previous owner claimed he only used it once and found it wasn't for him. So, even though I was buying blindly. I still had the comfort of know I wasn't paying full price if I found the razor wasn't forme. Well, I've loved using it.:)
Now ,the good thing for you is, you already know how this razor handles and you enjoy using it. You can make the purchase of the Futur knowing you'll enjoy using it. The Futur will have some more heft which I think you'll enjoy. Perhaps keep a lookout for a lightly used Futur.
the Qshave, like the Future, can be disassembled and cleaned. Just be aware how it goes back together so blade alignment remains correct.

    Hi Mark,
Just had my first shave with this Q-shave razor. 2nd use Wilkinson sword blade (black case). I was really impressed with this razor. Arko soap, T3 brush and setting 3. I got a great shave! I had 2 tiny weepers but they didn't even need the styptic pencil. I do find it annoying when I get such a great shave from a dirt cheap razor. It isn't far off my Outlaw and I didn't have to be as careful and the Outlaw is a much more expensive razor!! I am awaiting a delivery of the Executive shaving Braveheart head as I have the two different Outlaw handles. Stay safe buddy,
    Dave.

Dave, nice to her. Those slight weepers might be from having the setting dialed up just a bit much? Just a guess and not a big deal.:) Also, sounds like the blade balance in yours is pretty darn good, otherwise you would have mentioned. Mine is ever so lightly off. If I don't pay attention to it, it doesn't bother. It's minimal. Your comment reminds me to use either my Futur or Qshave.:) Thanks!:)

Just to add since I have a beard most times and just do my neck and cheeks the bulky part doesnt bother me but if i am clean shaven then the futur/shave is impossible to get right up by the nose and upper lip area so I use one of my "normal" butterfly razors.
Outta of the puck soaps ive gotten i really prefer the arko shave sticks and got the "deodorant" type dispenser, nice for face lathers. I used to load up my brush with pucks and lather it up but most times theres just way too much soap and it goes to waste.. i believe Arko uses actually beef tallow as well and it smells clean and not overbearing.

Good comparison, I don't have the Futur but I do have a Chinese clone and like you said the alignment is out a little, but not enough to prevent a reasonable shave. I tend to use quite low settings 2.5 or less, so maybe that helps alleviate the misalignment a bit. The Qshave is not one of my goto razors and I probably would not invest in the real Futur based on the experience (ie. large head, slippery handle, awkward blade loading, dangerous adjustment), I believe there are better adjustable choices out there for me.
