    Super helpful! This was my 3rd time trying to submit a DLA advance on Smart voucher for my upcoming PCS. And it finally went all the way through! Your explanations of what to do/select and why were the most helpful answers I’ve received. And this is after messaging DFAS help desk, multiple calls to DFAS customer service, and an unanswered request for help from my AMPO.

      Thank you for the feedback. Glad that we were able to assist. This was the main reason for making the videos.

    Roughly how long does it take once you submit? Thank you for the tutorial just submitted I PCS in 20 days

      Glad the tutorial helped. If you submitted a DLA advance it usually takes around 3-5 business days. Just keep in mind that you have to submit that advance at the 30 day mark of your PCS. If you submitted a PCS claim to DFAS, depending on what season they are in it usually takes around 10-15 business days.

      @@ftckyampo9014what if I want to request advanced travel but I already submitted DLA and got approved can I submit another one?

    • @ftckyampo9014
      @ftckyampo9014  2 місяці тому

      @@dayqwonmccullough5344 I would not suggest doing that. Advance travel is your MALT and per diem. In most cases DFAS will not advance this because of the GTC. If you have already requested the DLA advance I wouldn't request anything else and settle your voucher when you get the next duty station.

    My question is what if your dual military? We were Geo at first but now we’re PCSing together but on separate orders. Both our orders say depending not traveling.

    • @ftckyampo9014
      @ftckyampo9014  4 місяці тому

      If you are both at the same location only one of you can get DLA. Dual military, no dependents you can't claim each other as dependents. If you are PCSing from two different locations (without knowing any other information) you both could possibly get the DLA w/o rate.

    What if I want to do a travel advance (2278) and DLA advance. It doesn’t ask me if I want advance. And when I put travel dates it says I can’t do future dates. I’m PCSing to a way more expensive area and need the help.
    Also, what if you do your advance and get promoted before your travel date? Does the amount change?

    • @msgtrodriquezreynaldo4019

      Also, doing TDY en route but family is moving to the new ocs location.

    • @ftckyampo9014
      @ftckyampo9014  Місяць тому

      If you get promoted before the advance was issued there is a chance that your promotion amount could reflect. Typically if something changes the amount will be adjusted once you get to your next duty station and settle the claim.
      Advances will only be paid 30 days out from your sign out date. I am not sure about the PPM advance, but I am pretty sure that it follows the same guidelines. You can do a travel advance and a PPM advance at the same time. You will have to take the 2278 to your local PPM office for that advance payment.

      @@msgtrodriquezreynaldo4019 If you are doing TDY enroute make sure that before you PCS to the next duty station that you receive your 1610. Make sure the 1610 has the correct accounting lines for a PCS and not DTS if you want DFAS to pay it as part of your PCS claim. The way you tell the difference between the two is this. DTS will have ^^^^ symbols in the accounting line. If those are not present and it is a straight number that is usually a PCS LOC.
      Example 12222^^^22222^^1287 (DTS)
      478 22254115455GFB (PCS)
      You will also want to ensure that the remarks state what your entitlements will be while you are at the TDY location. I am not sure what you are asking when it comes to the family moving to the new PCS location, but keep in mind that your family is not authorized to move prior to your orders being cut. DFAS will not pay any PCS entitlements before the order cut date.

    Is " Rome reviewer approved " the final step in the approval chain.
    Thats what mine says currently, and im jusst wondering if that means that the payment has been sent.

    • @AmirLoren
      @AmirLoren 10 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, it's the final step. Now you just wait, unless you've already been paid!

    • @ftckyampo9014
      @ftckyampo9014  8 місяців тому +1

      Rome reviewer approved means that DFAS has the claim. This does not mean that the claim has been approved. If you do not see a payment (especially if you are stationed at Fort Campbell) We can look into it for you. Your local finance office should be able to check. If DFAS rejects the claim you should get an email from them stating why, you can also call DFAS at 888-332-7411 (follow the prompts).

    Should I apply for advance dla while I still have 3 months to report to my new duty station?

    So if you are less than 30 days do they deny your advance?

      Good morning. Sorry took so long to respond. That is a question I can't answer. I will have to get with DFAS and ask. They used to hold the advance until the 30 day mark.
