Thanks for the shout out! Happy these finally made it to you & can't wait to see the finished products!! We are sending over another small care package to help with your electrical connections. Cheers from everyone at Rick's!
Hi Rick's Motorsport Electronics can you explain me what does it means "Our design also eliminates the black signal wire" from which cable you are talking about? I have 3 cables coming from the alternator and 3 additional cable out : Black , Green and Red. Thank you in advance for your help.
It's true... As long as you don't have failing product and need a replacement, they are are very informative. Just cross your fingers that you won't need any sort of help should their RR fail a simple diode board test. Make sure you ask for a proof of purchase if it's a reseller (order summary is not enough, even if it's an official reseller), and prepare yourself to be blamed for whatever is happening to the unit or the way you've performed the test featured in their videos... Empathy is a foreign notion to them.
Love all your shows, always give them thumbs up, you look like you would be a great friend to hang out with but I wish you would keep the garage cleaner. Love ya brother 😎
Have you managed to find a company in UK that make reg/rect. , i am looking for one now for my cb500 four build but struggle to find one. I would appreciate any help. Thanks
I want to go lithium on my 1982 cx500. Is there a way I can test the stock rectifier while running to see if it is ok to use a lithium or if I have to buy one of these?
They say anything post 80s electrical system is ok. But considering the cost of one of these vs a LiFePO4 battery you’re worth getting one of these. Plus you wouldn’t be taking the chance that a 37 year old reg/rec unit still works properly.
Hey, for the bold degrees, I've always wondered what the box is at 5.59. I have one on the cb750k and plan to put a m-unit on it and wondered what that box does. Thanks! Love all the videos, wish you the best of luck
Would be pretty happy for the petcock video. Since the plastic bit that i can pull out might be the filter but unsure. My manual doesn't show anything about the filter at all it seems :/
I might add it at the start of the next video then. The filter would be the long white plastic thing that goes into the tank. But if unsure you can always add an inline filter.
Just ordered one of these for my build $129 (£98.59) minus shipping.....and now have a bill for import charges £38.72....so that's around £180 all in.....that's 4 times dearer than the Lithium battery I bought @ £45
Do they have to be mounted on a metal part? heard someone say that they have to be, so that the metal part draws some of the heat off of the regulator rectifier and prevent them from overheating.
On the original bike they're mounted on the side of the frame, a flimsy bit of metal, I'm no reg engineer but I think the fins are designed to cool them down enough. Anyone an engineer here that can say more?
Don’t know about battery prices in UK, but here in Belgium they are really cheap. Bought a battery last year for my Triumph for about 30€, while the R/R has cost me 170£ plus shipping. Since I learned that my model year has a weak stator, I am now going to install a small voltmeter (15€) in the dash, so at least I won’t get stranded again.
after mounting my rr on the underside of the electrics tray beneath the seat, I am feeling a fair amount of heat after about 20mins of riding. Electrics are all stock other than the LED tail light, and AGM battery...considering it is 40 year old tech, it might be worth an upgrade.
@@forthebold my thoughts exactly...or it could be normal as a one would never feel the heat in the stock location. Under the seat however, it gets a little toasty.
can you make a video about security also? It was kinda sad to watch you talk about your new monster bike, I am glad you have a new bike you enjoy to ride but you said CX500 would be stolen so you cant (dont) want to ride it... :(
I will be riding it. Don’t worry. Just not leaving it where I can’t see it. So popping to the shops or anything where I leave the bike I just wouldn’t take the CX. Tbh there isn’t w whole much to stop people taking your bike. If they want to, 3 people or even 2 could lift a padlocked CX and move it onto a van and be off
100%, I was going to bring it over to the workshop the other week before the Ducati came but no room now, I'll bring it in when I either sell the GS550 or the CB750 is delivered to the customer.
No, she doesn't ride, all the bikes are for me, but if I have to make room that would be the one I would sell. That's if I don't decide on extending the workshop.
For The Bold - dreegez Man that would be a hard decision for me. I love the sound and 2stroke like power band in the 4 popper, but I love the looks of the cx. I do know that the cx's sound great also if you run duel pipe without a crossover. The has the same cylinder degree as a V8 mustang, and with duel pipe without a crossover it sounds just like one.
you shouldn't crimp those connectors unless you absolutely must. Order up this kit and solder the connections. You will never have trouble with them. BTW, the bike looks amazing and I love your videos! I don't mean to be a complainer, I just want your bike to be problem free! www.amazon.com/Ninth-City-Motorcycle-Terminals-Connector-Insulation/dp/B01N0403PD/ref=sr_1_5_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1533567545&sr=8-5&keywords=motorcycle+bullet+connectors&dpID=51I07z0i3gL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
I hate to say it but all those bullet connectors make me shudder...a nightmare awaits someone later who has to chase an electrical problem! I always solder and shrink my work..!!!

You're welcome, and thanks for the package, well needed :)

I second their great customer support. Called for a question on my GS550 and Rick got me squared away. Great company.
Awesome, good to hear they're consistent.

I will have to keep this company in mind when I get to that point on my build.
Highy recommended
Finally caught up to date with the CX build after watching most in the week after discovering your channel! Can't wait to see more
amazing, glad you found me, more CX videos next week.
Good vid... hopefully I'll be putting in a order to Rick's soon👍
Thanks, definitely recommended
woohoooo!! one step closer, going to be riding it soon
Next week hopefully,
Love all your shows, always give them thumbs up, you look like you would be a great friend to hang out with but I wish you would keep the garage cleaner. Love ya brother 😎
You can hang out with me if you are handy with a broom ;)
Loving ya work Anthony, They look badass, can't wait to see your monsters on the road :) MotoVlog Style!
Thanks, definitely worth the money, Monster video going up this Wednesday
Nice. My next bike once I finish my current one is definitely gonna be a CX500. When done up into a cafe racer style they're just so god damn sexy.
They are sturdy and simple bikes.
Have you managed to find a company in UK that make reg/rect. , i am looking for one now for my cb500 four build but struggle to find one. I would appreciate any help. Thanks
Only ricks motorsports reg rec unit. Dime City Cycles ship to the uk

For The Bold - dreegez when you say works properly does that mean you know how to test one to make sure?

The little box with 2 wires is the relay, the M unit has that, the bigger box is the CDI

For The Bold - dreegez I think my bike had both maybe. If i could, would it be cool if i sent you a pic when i drain the vinegar out of it?
just ordered one for mine
Amazeballs.

But a lot cheaper than replacing your lithium battery after every ride.

wow thats a quick one. thanks! total noob when it comes building motorcycles, this channel has helped me a lot! cheers!
No worries, I don't 100% know the answer but I guess you'd be ok looking at where the original was
For the Bold is right - the fins are designed for cooling purposes!
Mounting to a plate would enhance the the cooling ability if it works in your build. Heat is the enemy of electronics!

I guess it depends on the battery, I use Ballistic as they're really small and light, a normal battery for this bike would be around £30
For The Bold - dreegez thanks, I will check out Ballistics ; the smaller/lighter, the better
Have you found these to run any cooler than stock?
To be honest I haven't tested the temp on them
after mounting my rr on the underside of the electrics tray beneath the seat, I am feeling a fair amount of heat after about 20mins of riding. Electrics are all stock other than the LED tail light, and AGM battery...considering it is 40 year old tech, it might be worth an upgrade.
I don't know how they work but if it's old it could be working over time?
@@forthebold my thoughts exactly...or it could be normal as a one would never feel the heat in the stock location. Under the seat however, it gets a little toasty.
Does the CB750 require a CDI box? I see one on Rick's Motorsports Electrics but I dont remember taking one off my bike during the tear down..
It does, unlike the CX500 where there's a big box, the CDIs are 2 tiny things about the size of relays.
Will it ever be started!
Yeah it was started like 6 episodes ago

Great vid. Hey, you should do a video of your maico.

I thought the gs was for the old lady?

Say hi to Brazil!
Hi Brazil
Did you have to pay customs and duty tax on them?
Sometimes. Depends on the shipping company whether they pull it up.
I have two builds on deck. CX500 and '74 CB750K. It should be fun, but not looking forward to doing the electrics!!!
Not my favourite bit but coming up soon is wiring made simple with an m-unit
Poderia ter legenda .... seus vídeos são muito bons ... não tem nada parecido aqui no Brasil...
I will try my best to populate with subtitles
Yes sir!! 👍👍🏍️🏍️🔥🔥
Thumbs up for this.

Nice tip, I'll definitely be re-doing the harness from scratch in the future
