Hey there, enjoying the videos. I have a 78 CX500 with the CDI ignition as well. I have found the high speed source coil is measuring high resistance on my stator and am looking to order an new stator from RM. I have looked on their website for the part number you list for the reg/rec assembly and cannot find it. Is it listed as a part for a different motorcycle than the CX500? Did you speak to an engineer at RM to verify this part? I just want to be sure before I call them again, seems the ladies on the phone last time I called them only have the information that is listed on their website. She indicated the SF-020-006027 part number was for a 2008 model year motorcycle, cant remember the manufacturer she said it was for...
Thanks for watching. I did speak to an engineer at RMStator, but this has been so long ago now I forget details of the conversation. The part number I used was their suggestion. They are very helpful over the phone. Don't hesitate to call them, they'll treat you well.
Yes and no. Yes in that power flows to the battery eventually but the routing is Green to ground/earth and red to the positive on the battery. Hope that helps.
@@j.michel6668 In what way(s)? The ignition systems are different and the frames of course. There are more similarities than differences, but there are differences. Thanks for watching.
In the wiring harness and ignition components. Mine was running fine but lights stopped working and electric start won't work. Bump starts right up though. @@UrbanMonkTV
You are so daring drilling so close to the tire!! Great modification!!
I've got a new tire on the shelf that's going on there anyway. 🙂
Reg Rec and Stator! No wonder I was having issues
When one goes, the other follows.

Do the red and green wires go to the positive and negative battery points straight to the battery?

@@UrbanMonkTV so red directly to the battery. Green just anywhere on chassis ground?
@@mrjimenez11 Yes. A good ground and assuming the negative battery terminal is grounded well.
How are you doing?
Good! My wife had her transplant and is doing well.
How similar is the 1980 CX 500 custom model to the 1979 CX 500 standard?

What else will you be doing to the bike?
Cleaning carbs, tuning, clean up the bike up and ride. Keeping it stock. Its condition is too good to customize in my opinion.
@@UrbanMonkTV I understand that, it's a great looking bike! I have a '79 CX500 that already had some stuff done to it I bought as my first bike
