So for the antiwax discussion - how is making rail less slippery any different from making it more slippery with wax? In both cases you use an external tool to adjust the speed at which you grind the rail.
nka was talking in the interview before the premiere about "wow, the iphone footage looked so good! after we got some of the clips and saw how it looked we knew we could do the whole part on an iphone". he's a good filmer but i definitely did not agree with him on that one lol, look at a brett novak part in comparison. he's obviously got an eye for cinematography, but on top of that everything just looks amazing because it looks like it's shot on very nice cameras and colour graded (which obviously not everything needs to be or can be, but it represents the other end of the spectrum from the "do the whole flagship part on an iphone" approach)
Andy is the only guy who does these kinda illegal tricks but can also skate big stuff Imo usually ppl who get super tech and do the kinda illegal tricks Andy does, are doing so because they don’t have that much power and can’t skate that big, so to progress they get more complicated within that limitation. Andy is powerful and can skate big stuff and still skates this way and it’s awesome
dont know if anyone said this before but with a lot of tricks the only reason people are hating is because andy is the one executing them. if this was max palmer or anyone else "cool", people would be loosing their minds (and thats coming from a huuuge max fan boy). I do know that style and the lack of irony in this case play a huge role but I dont really think should hate as much as they do
100% accurate. max palmer does a lot of combo tricks which people have made fun of && for. it's pure hypocrisy because it's the popular thing to do. his style isn't great but it doesn't justify the amount of hate he gets. you would think he did some horrible thing but no. i've seen them try to twist his awkwardness into him being a narcissist and shit too which is fucked. they try to find any reason to justify their hatred of him. most values that skaters claim to have is marketing and an image to uphold.
I think the whole unwritten skateboarding rules are so stupid. The only rule should be that you can't lie about it, he showed that he altered the spot so it's fine to me
the problem is this part is like watching a transformers movie. it just KEEPS FUCKIN COMING and blasting you with combinations of genuinely inspired skating amid piles of very improvisational blues guitar BS. take this 12 minutes down to the top four and it's an all timer clinic in weird futuristic skating from a time-traveler's iphone, but the entire twelve minutes just causes too much fatigue to appropriately frame andy's language
i'm skeptical of anyone that hates on this dude. not liking his skating is understandable but bullying is too far. clearly he's not all there socially. it's like bullying a disabled person. that's some sadistic borderline psychopathic behavior. respect for not shitting on him which is the popular thing to do.
Back in the day skaters used to get 100 dollars for every time they wore a swatch in promo so skaters would start wearing a ton of them to get more money. They don’t do that anymore but Andy is paying homage to the 80’s skaters who did that.
the rock fakie on a rail has been done before by cole wilson in his 'oddity' part. this rail looks far more difficult and gnarly though. the rail is so different that one could argue that it's not really the same trick. at the same time i wouldn't say that andy's trick is an nbd for that reason.
The reason why andy doesnt care much about the cameras is because he thinks if a clip loks more like it couldve been filmed by everyone, then it seems more accesible to the people who dont fully understand it, he spoke about it alot in detail on hawk and wolf

So for the antiwax discussion - how is making rail less slippery any different from making it more slippery with wax? In both cases you use an external tool to adjust the speed at which you grind the rail.
anything that they feel takes away risk is bad basically from what i can tell
nka was talking in the interview before the premiere about "wow, the iphone footage looked so good! after we got some of the clips and saw how it looked we knew we could do the whole part on an iphone". he's a good filmer but i definitely did not agree with him on that one lol, look at a brett novak part in comparison. he's obviously got an eye for cinematography, but on top of that everything just looks amazing because it looks like it's shot on very nice cameras and colour graded (which obviously not everything needs to be or can be, but it represents the other end of the spectrum from the "do the whole flagship part on an iphone" approach)
I really wish he had Brett do this part as well, that guy had an eye for him.
9:20 the trick history part killed me lol
The comedic timing of that guy in the green shirts clip right after Andys part was f**king gold 😂
It's funny how that song Joa put on genuinely fit the footage much better than the original
He will be remembered as a genius, I knew him when he was cringe.
Andy has officially evolved into an NBD demigod!
Andy is the only guy who does these kinda illegal tricks but can also skate big stuff
Imo usually ppl who get super tech and do the kinda illegal tricks Andy does, are doing so because they don’t have that much power and can’t skate that big, so to progress they get more complicated within that limitation. Andy is powerful and can skate big stuff and still skates this way and it’s awesome
Skating so out of the box gifted hater finds he who was once hated gifted
dont know if anyone said this before but with a lot of tricks the only reason people are hating is because andy is the one executing them. if this was max palmer or anyone else "cool", people would be loosing their minds (and thats coming from a huuuge max fan boy).
The only rule should be that you can't lie about it, he showed that he altered the spot so it's fine to me
52:50 greatest thing ive seen from Joa yet 🤣🤣🤣 pure amazement
"Crazy Wisdom" is in fact not an oxymoron. One can be crazy and have wisdom.
Andy Anderson invented yoga mufflers.
the problem is this part is like watching a transformers movie. it just KEEPS FUCKIN COMING and blasting you with combinations of genuinely inspired skating amid piles of very improvisational blues guitar BS. take this 12 minutes down to the top four and it's an all timer clinic in weird futuristic skating from a time-traveler's iphone, but the entire twelve minutes just causes too much fatigue to appropriately frame andy's language
i'm skeptical of anyone that hates on this dude. not liking his skating is understandable but bullying is too far. clearly he's not all there socially. it's like bullying a disabled person. that's some sadistic borderline psychopathic behavior. respect for not shitting on him which is the popular thing to do.
Is he wearing 2 watches in the curved rail darkslide?!
And for every other trick in the part. He’s sponsored by swatch
Andy for frog
he was so mesmerized he didnt even comment on the triple watch swag
The watch on both wrists got me😂
The reason why andy doesnt care much about the cameras is because he thinks if a clip loks more like it couldve been filmed by everyone, then it seems more accesible to the people who dont fully understand it, he spoke about it alot in detail on hawk and wolf
The anti wax made me think of Dane Burman using Copers on that aluminum Staples rail to ledge. Made it work, fuck it
CRAZY WISDOM
Andy's transcended beyond regular tricks.
