This is how to strike the string.
You push the string all the way down to the skin (kawa) and the slide the bachi off the string allowing the string to snap back. It's a lot more fluid than it sounds.
Advanced. You can do it in 3 steps - Chitoshan
Step 1 - Chi: the sound of scraping the skin.
With your bachi, before you reach the string, you scrape the skin until the bachi touches the string. Then you press the string down with the bachi.
Step 2 - To: Sounding the String.
This is obvious.
Step 3 - Shan: letting the string resonate.
After you sound the string, you bring the bachi up off the kawa to let the string resonate fully.
This helps me with my shamisen thank you ☺️
It might be cool if I can see the angles at which bachi is making relative to the skin surface from probably 4 different directions. I think beginners to tend to make sharper angles. They try to pluck the string. Your book may have already covered, but I haven't see it yet.
Wow, I've never seen this before! I'm glad youtube recommend it to me:) Greetings from Arg.
Where did you get your shamisen?
Did you go to Japan?
Or did you buy it over the internet, if so could you tell me which site you got it from.
There are a few options online for buying a shamisen you have cheaper ones but those qre still pretty expensive
