Excellent teaching method ! Please illustrate the tuning of the Hindusthani violin as opposed to GDAE tuning.. Also do you know any supporting gadgets for older people who cannot sit down and support the violin on the ankle. You correctly pointed out playing gamak is very tough on the western holding way. I am having trouble shifting to third position now, specially shifting down. Your method also avoids neck pain of holding the western way and one can play long passages without frequent rests.

You can use Shoulder Rest if someone isn't able to sit down properly or isn't able to hold the violin on the ankle .
Shoulder Rest gives proper holding over shoulder and you can shift any positions as you wanted
