I like how the baseline is the sentinel. It's reviews like this that keep affirming how good an investment into a transition bike will be worth it. Can't wait to see the showdown video now.
I just bout this bike and it is amazing. I purchaced the GX and it was a great deal. Only thing is I am definitely upgrading to some better brakes. Im a big guy so definitely going for some SRAM mavens.
i laughed when they came out with this bike, they said a few times that they would never make an ebike. there is no difference between that and my norco sight VLT. the i have had for 4 years. i love it the the "kool kids" are finally coming on board...
A lot of folks actually prefer the non AXS dropper, myself included. It’s really heavy and comes in a 170mm max drop. I’ll take a 200+mm cable dropper over the AXS version every day.
@@bikersedge I have heard the opposite from some people so it just comes down to preference. It's more just strange that Transition would refer to this as the Repeater AXS model and then not spec it with the AXS Dropper post. The bike is awesome regardless.
Awesome video as always! I just rode paradise myself today! I’m riding a carbon sentinel v2; off topic but my OneUp dropper keeps slipping, bike is fairly new. I’ve cleaned, carbon pasted collar and post and torqued to 6nm and still getting slippage. Any experience with that or ideas? Thinking I might buy a bikeyoke squeezy collar to see if it’s the stock collar, at a loss.. also outer seattube diameter is 37mm right?
Weird on it slipping. I haven’t had that issue. To be honest I’ve never used a torque wrench to tighten the seatpost collar. I wonder if mine is tighter than 6nm
@@bikersedge it is strange, I’m just overly cautious with carbon, gonna have to teach me to hit that drop in the entrance pit, still scared of that one
So, I'm getting older and increasingly e-bike curious... but that EP8 rattle would drive me INSANE. Think I'll pass till they figure out how to fix that.
I'm hyped for the new Relay, I don't want to wait till Spring to get one and I wonder how the Fazua 60 is noise and performance wise, but darn do I think I want it
Another great video. Just got my 2022 Bronson so not in the market but love your videos. This trail looks awesome. See you willing to share where it is?
What has been your experience with the ep8, 630watt vs Bosch with 625watt? Have been doing about a year of riding with our crew and find that the shimano battery life just can’t keep up with the Bosch system. Shimano on empty(which limits our rides) and Bosch 32-40% battery left. Quite a disparity. The shimano motor equipped bikes(Santa Cruz, husquavarna,Commencal) running in tour mode vs Bosch(trek, mondraker, niner) in tour/Emtb has a significant better range. Is the motor in the shimano not efficient? Battery? What are your thoughts… thanks for the great content.
I haven’t ridden a Bosch motor for a few years. Can’t really compare. I’d imagine it has to do with how much power you put in vs the bike. The EP8 is pretty generous with the power.
Looking forward to your ebike comparison. Not sure why the 160e isn’t included in that discussion. Really curious how the Repeater compares to that bike.
Love Transition. Love e-bikes. Maybe one day I will own one. Pricing is out of this world. I bought a 2018 KTM 450 XCF w/ 13 engine hours for a grand less than what a specialized turbo Levo frameset costs. The frame alone costs more than my dirt bike.
Seat tube angles mane such a big difference in the seated position on a bike. This didn’t feel too big while seated. The roomy reach is nice on the DH.
Yikes, I'm not sure if it is the cable routing or the battery cover, but something is really loud (rattling). I can say that, I'm born, raised & still live in Bellingham 😂👍🏼 Don't get me wrong, great bike.
How long had you ridden the bike before this video? I was really surprised how poor the brakes where the first few rides. But after that they got really good and are super powerful now.
@@petersussmann489 Magura MT5, and they are pretty dang awesome as far as power goes. They are not the quietest brakes out there but power is comparable to Code RSC.
What the heck is that rattling noise? That's the reason I sold my Canyon spectral, because it had a rattling noise that sounded like it was the shim stack in the rear shock. I rebuilt all the pivots, replaced the fork, and did a lot of cable management on it and finally traced it down to the shim stack in the shock. so I said screw it! I'm not riding a rattling bike and sold it
I just read some of the comments.. sounds like it's the motor. well I guess it'll be another couple years before I buy an e-bike, because I would drive me freaking insane.
Watch until the end of the video. I discuss it. Microphone settings made it much worse than it is in person. The EP8 is famous for rattling. Other motors not so much. Don’t shoot down all ebikes just yet.
@@bikersedge I was kind of excited about the Rocky Mountain altitude power play until I saw it was a high pivot with an idler and all the trouble that people are having wearing out idler gears, I could imagine that and the ebike would just magnify that issue. That's a lot of power throwing down on a little idler gear like that.
We call them shopping carts but yeah. Also the audio/mic in this video made it sound really bad for some reason. Worse than it sounds in person. Won’t say it doesn’t rattle though.
I don't know, just yet another ebike with nothing pushing the progress or evolution at all. Basically 'I guess we need to release an ebike, so...' which is kind of the impression you get from the videos of the Transition guys. Like the brand but boring a$$ release
I agree to an extent but I don’t see anything wrong with making a safe bike that you know people will like and buy. I don’t see the need for every bike to be radically pushing the boundaries. I’d argue that more folks will be content on this bike than if they had made it some untested, extreme freak of a bike.

It’s partly due to that being the bike I ride most days and partly due to it being one of the best all mountain bikes you can buy right now.

You should so test the giant reign, I rode one and bought one. Great value, suspension and motor
I would love to. The Trance E was amazing.
I just picked one up but haven't ridden it yet due to weather. One complaint out of the box, my AXS build should have come with AXS dropper.
