I pulled my 14' Fisher and trailer out from behind the shed and began working on it about a month ago. Had to replace the transom on the boat and fix a few leaks but the real cost was in getting the trailer to a point where it was safe to use so I would feel good about letting the kids use it. I probably have around $550.00 invested in the project. There's a couple of things I want to do to it yet but I feel good about how it has turned out so far. It's usable. My Son in law, Grandson and I took it out for the first time in 22 years this past week end. It brought back a lot of memories.
Just as good as it was advertised. Keep up the good work thanks for all the hard work I know goes into making these videos. Here's to hoping we get another one before the season closes!
I have the same boat, only a 1977. The only difference is a 3rd bench in the middle with a bait well. I'm redoing mine too but I am gonna put a deck up front with storage. I say all that to say your video was very helpful to see what I'll end up with. Thanx
I'm glad I found your channel, I had been looking to buy a boat so a friend and I could go out fishing, I've been watching your older videos of your jon boat builds and just found out this weekend that the friend I've been wanting to take fishing has a 12' jon that he felt wasn't worth anything so I showed him you 12' build and now we are going to check out his boat and hopefully breathe some life into it. The first thing I noticed was that it is 4 or 5 different colors, so we have to fix that. lol Keep up the great work and hopefully this channel can help you keep going on your builds because they are fun to see take shape.
i used a wirewheel on a cheap harbor freight drill, to get my old 1436 G3 Jon Boat, went straight to the aluminum and used foam roller to apply rustoleum red paint, mixed 4:1 with some hardener and it was a sad day when I sold her.
Dang, right around 29:10 you avoided multiple "Rebel tennis ball traps" without turning an ankle. That pup might be trying to do you in ! 🤣 Keep em coming !
Great looking little budget build bro .. im glad the head gasket worked out that could have went way worse really quick .. I hope you got to enjoy you some bluegill .. we fried up about 30 of em a few weeks ago and man were they good 👍
I know where you are coming from when spending loads of dosh on anything. We call it keeping up with the Jones’s in the UK. My neighbour turned his terrace house into a palace then wanted to put it on the market for let’s say £100,000 but the estate agent refused to, saying that the area it was in only warranted a price range of £60,000 - £65,000 irrespective of condition. To say he was pi##ed was putting it lightly. Wish I was in your neck of the woods as those boats look magic.🇬🇧😊
Love the boat! It looks great I think the next build that would be cool would be a v hull boat there Arnt really any builds on those on UA-cam I think it would be a great idea for your channel
@@backwaterboatrehab sweet bro. 😎. You’re inspiring me to try to make some side hustle money doing the same thing in the Northeast. Build in fall and winter, sell in spring and summer
Im in east tn and have been trying to buy a 4-8hp outboard for my jonboat for 2 weeks now and ive literally sent 6-7 ppl pictures of cash money and they still dont want to meet up. Its been a hard one for marketplace lately
Im looking at a 12foot waco on a older trailer and a johson 15hp not running just been sitting in a barn . Was a older gentlemans .Has title on both motor and boat. In good shape no dents original paint.. They are asking 950? Really want little bigger one but it seems to be a good deal.
Check the bottom width, if it’s at least 36” I’d say it’s worth it. Anything under 36” is a little too unstable for me at least. 1236 is a really cool size boat
What did you think about the Rustoleum paint? I recently painted a jon boat using the Rustoleum spray cans which turned out okay, but we recently bought a brand new Mercury 20hp and want to repaint, and since I've watched previous videos you have done using the "Aluma Hawk"? (or Total Boat?) and what I see with these two paints is that they have resin in it which says you don't need to primer it first, where as with the "rustoleum" being water based you needed to prime it' which you weren't going to, what did you think about it? plus you said they said don't roll it on, how did that go? PS hope Rebel gets better, sure likes to chase those tennis balls!! Thanks a lot for your videos they sure have been helpful!
This paint seemed to adhere better than total boats aluminum boat paint. And it didn’t look bad after rolling it on, not really sure why they don’t recommend doing that. I have repainted many outboards using rustoleum in a rattle can and they turn out good
Nice build! That paint looks good. Got a gallon of totalboat alum paint and now I’m scared to use it after hearing you talk about it. Did you use the one for aluminum?
Yes. Maybe I just had a bad batch or it didn’t want to work with the older aluminum boat I used it on. But I’ve talked to many others who were also unhappy with it.
What did you end up selling this one for? I started doing the same thing as a hobby. Bought a similar boat and fixed it up, paid 300 dollars for boat and trailer and 200 for a 9.8 mercury. Built a deck with hatches and painted trailer sold for 1700. Just curious on how you sell yours.

Another great build just simply and easy

Nice restomod on a classic Jon boat. Keeping it simple was a good choice. Gonna make someone a nice new vessel for hooking into some fish and fun 🎣

I’ve got one similar except it has a storage compartment between the two seats. Have absolutely loved it. Thanks for sharing the build.
Another great boat build . I like the way it turned out , just a good fishing boat . Great job .
Amazing channel. Just watched several of your builds and is a must for anyone wanting a boat but dint have huge dollars for one !

Great video, I look forward to them. I just found you about a month ago. Your one of the best.
Thanks dude!
Nice job on the boat. That's what I call a 'prime honey hauler' tell you what.
You did a fantastic job on that boat. I need to strip and upgrade my 12 foot Jon boat.
You have the most random upload times.but love the videos because you do stuff the way I do it keep them coming

Hell yeah cuz, I like this one. Simple boat build.
I just picked up a 10’ jonny boat that im gonna make my own Kayak killer with. I got a long bed 94 F150 that it should sit in nicely.
Bravo!! That was a fun watch. Thanx

Wish I had a way to show you the seats on my Jon I built. They are great for a wide Jon.
Fantastic job brother 👏 👍 🙌
Great to see your back on the Jon boats only have a sundolfin 12 Jon boat is there any things you can do for them ,Thanks again form Ireland 🎣👍

I'd like to do one, only problem is trying to sell one around here after putting money in it. They aren't very popular here.
Great color! Was that the "Dead Grass" color? Nice work.
Great build,… Hope you can make a few bucks on it. Good luck and keep the videos coming
Thanks dude, already got her sold.

When putting in a seat base do you have to have a board mounted on the bench seat or can you fix the seat base directly on the aluminum bench seat?
I hear Rebel !

Are you worried about the plywood corroding the aluminum at all on this boat? Trying to choose between plywood or aluminum for my own boat’s floors.
Outdoor grade plywood shouldn’t corrode it’s the treated plywood you have to avoid
Good to know. Thanks!
Hey, you have the comments off on your video about the C-Tug Dinghy Wheels, I wanted to ask how did they hold up? How are they on concrete?
What type bracket is on the front for the trolling motor?

Nice job,,,,came out really good!!!...Question, what app are you using to read MPH when on the water?....Thanks again.
Look up speedometer 55 gps in the Apple App Store. It’s free

I get it, keep it simple..
Pool noodles are a cheap fix for the uprights.
Marketplace has taken a dive in the last year. Facebook made messenger impossible. It appears they now want to charge .😢
Agreed. I miss Craigslist. Actually how I sold that green Duracraft.
Are you a professional!
This is what I wish my 14 36 polar Kraft looked like.
Wouldn’t cost you too much. I think I put a little less than $500 in this boat/trailer (not counting the outboard)
The creek is looking low
I sold a 14ft Seaking with a 6hp for $1500 and bought a 1980 Bass Tracker 3 with a Merc 40 for $800 the next day 🫡 lmao
LOL TNX 4 VID LOL
