- The fascinating story of Richard S. Reynolds, who made aluminum, and the uses of aluminum, a household name. This biographical story follows his life, from his marriage to his beautiful wife, to his innovation using aluminum foil through the ages. From candy wrappers to WW2 containers for munitions, this brilliant entrepreneur even mined and produced aluminum in the United States. Filmed in brilliant Technicolor, this story was produced by Roland Reed Productions, the same company that produced the TV series Waterfront, Rocky Jones Space Ranger, and many other 50's television shows. Impressive productions values, a look at American ingenuity in peacetime and war. A piece of history you won't want to miss. The cast is not listed in the credits. Please mention any of the cast you recognize in the comments and we will update the description. From our UA-cam community: Cast includes Lyle Bettger, Olive Sturgess, Whit Bissell, and Herb Voland. Narrated by Dick Tufeld. Transferred from 16mm Technicolor film.
Some of the toupés worn in this video are a riot.
I might also point out an incongruity. Roland Reed went belly up circa 1956, but the date in the title is 1966.
Interesting...perhaps an error with Roman Numerals?
At the very end, the copyright says “Reynolds’s Metal Company MCMLXVI”.
Yea, I’d say 1966 is the correct production date. The Rocky Jones Wiki states that Roland Reed Productions shut down in November 1956, but Roland himself continued producing religious and industrial films.
19:15- Herb Voland as "Senator J. Lister Hill".
At first glance I notice Whit Bissell and Lyle Bettinger.
Correction: Bettinger = Bettger
Thanks..will revise the description with hopefully some more cast members. Appreciate your help.
Though Marlin Skiles is credited with the music score, almost all of it comes from Capitol Records' Hi-Q Library.
7:52- Whit Bissell.
Thanks for this input and others. We will add these names to the description.
Is there ANYTHING he wasn't in?
The girl Bettger wants to marry is Olive Sturgess.
Sounds like the Narrator is Dick Tufeld.
It is!
Narrated by Dick Tufeld.
