    I think the biggest misconception about Katya is that all she does is say weird stuff for the sake of being purely random, but if you truly listen to her speak she is actually incredibly smart and doesn't seem to get enough credit for how insightful she is, and I think this interview gave a good glimpse at that.

    • @appended1
      @appended1 5 років тому +295

      She's also very conscious of when she says something problematic and she always corrects it without being showy. In this interview she sensed how priveleged it was to say that being on a TV show set is the most grueling job and adds on the disclaimer about ice road trucking.

    Katya talking about her psychotic episodes is an extreme truth-bomb. I've gone through one, single psychotic episode, or break or whatever you want to call it, and ended up getting arrested for disorderly conduct in the parking lot of a Waffle House at 2 in the morning. Spent 36hrs in the hold and ended up getting 'red-slipped', or involuntarily committed, into the psychiatric unit of a local hospital.
    It's no joke, what she's talking about.
    ( diagnosed, Bipolar II, off meds -- at the time )

      I lived with addiction for far too long (21 years). Beginning at age 18, I didn’t get clean until ‘09, and I still take several medications to help keep me relatively sane. Ten years later and I still make a conscious decision to abstain. I couldn’t imagine managing my sobriety in the public sphere.

      This is likely not to be seen, but this is also the first interview of yours I've seen, Joseph, and I really admire how objective you were and how you gave Katya the room to talk. And I loved hearing you say that this is your favorite job. You can see that you have a calling to it. I could also see you being an excellent therapist.
      I was dying to know more about what Katya meant when she said that her friends around her after her breakdown were "too supportive". Later on she said something about people being too nice and thinking there's a scam behind it. It would be interesting to hear about how she relates to the people around her.
      Thank you again for this fantastic work. Looking forward to watching more!

    I could watch this interview for hours and hours. I don't think I've ever seen an interview where every single question that's asked is interesting and every single answer is very in-depth. What a great interview!

    Thank you so much for this interview, Joseph! I really appreciate how you did the first 17ish minutes of the interview. This is the first time I’ve seen an interview with someone with a huge following about addiction/mental health not be rushed or you talking over the person sharing or trying to make a joke out of everything! You are very talented. Thank you for this important conversation and handling it with grace and respect!! Katya: I love you lots. Thank you for being honest and vulnerable to the world!!!

    Another fantastic and thoughtful interview. I love Katya and was so excited to get this notification, but I would watch any interview where you are the interviewer. You just have a knack for this. Thank you for all the great content!
