hey! regarding the gay thing, it's a sad reality in India where no one seems to be talking about it. gay people aren't accepted in india. they used to be, before the British came. they brought laws which sent people to jail for life (+non bailable offence) for being born that way. that law was removed by the Britishers back in the 70s in their own country but India followed the same laws after independence and didn't remove it until 2018. i know people personally whose husbands are gay. those men have family pressure to be married and most marriages here are arranged so it's hard to love a stranger anyway. so they just live together for the kids. and divorce is a taboo and society looks down at people, so there's no way out for both parties in those marriages. it's a grey area where the woman is left without any choices, and the man is with someone he doesn't love. It's just a sad reality
That is very sad. I wonder if the British realize the damage they caused throughout the world and those effects are still being felt today. Even here in the USA there are states that are still discriminating against gay culture. Sometimes we forget about it because we live in a state where no one cares if someone is gay. I feel so bad for people that are stuck in that situation. I think I saw a trailer for a movie on Netflix that kind of describes a situation like that (Badai Do I think it was called) Miguel and I watch "Indian Matchmaking" (guilty pleasure) and I am pretty sure at least 1 or 2 of the guys were gay especially the one where his mom was using emotional blackmail to get him to marry. 😓 It's good things are progressing but I wish it would happen faster.
